Harrison has played some guard in a pinch. Whoever that backup center is/will be, needs to have guard flexibility.
-
Key concern is Arthur Jones. Can he stay healthy and play with intensity throughout the season? The Ravens were not worried about letting him go, so hopefully the new DC with Pagano can truly access and make the correct business decision on his effectiveness.
Check back with Colts.com after the Combine for an update on Jones. I'm with you in that Jones and Anderson are definite keys to that defensive line group really becoming the strength of the Colts defense.
-
@ColtsAllDayLong Check out NFL.com in their "team stats" section and you can find all the info there
-
NewColtsFan, it will definitely be in there each week to conclude the notebook.
-
DAnderson, read the depth chart from left to right. This depth chart above is the same as the one underneath the "depth chart" tab on Colts.com.
Carter is over Ruffin, Smith over Carr, Butler over Casey, etc.

Where is handicap parking? I see a lot for VIP parking but not handicap. Is there a parking lot closer than 4-5 blocks away?
There will be a lot for ADA parking adjacent to the main parking lot at Anderson University. Golf cart transportation will be provided from there.

When you go into the roster listed on Colts.com, Chapman and Kerr are the only players listed as NT. Hughes, Perry listed as DT's. Putting 4 DT's and 2 NT's. Seems odd to me to have a 350lb man (The biggest guy we have on the defense by a long shot)at DT instead of NT. Do you know why?
Yeah, I've noticed that, too. I know the staff has always talked about the versatility of Hughes. He's a guy that is pretty athletic for his massive size. With defensive linemen though (besides Chapman), virtually everyone is interchangeable up front with guys sliding inside and outside on various downs.

I tried watching it, but all i got was a notification that live stream is only available for those inside LOS... It said i had to connect to Colts-LOS wifi, to confirm that i'm at the stadium..
Great job, and an even greater idea, to live stream only for those who are actually at the stadium and can watch the practice in person.
Sorry about that problem.
That shouldn't have been the case at all. We will look at that problem before Training Camp.

Coach said "every player on the team is important, even the last spot." But day in and day out I log on to see if anything is posted on Robinson or Goode. A few things about Robinson, But nothing really on Goode. Does this bode ill for the young lineman?
Goode has been working with the second team for really a majority of the past few weeks at right tackle. Again, no pads on the players this time of year so hard to truly evaluate Goode. Also to be honest, it's not like the media members are asking individual offensive line questions for a guy who was the second to last pick in the draft. If Goode continues to get first/second team reps at tackle come Training Camp, that will warrant more attention.
-
Yep. Either watch on Colts.com/live or on the Colts Mobile App.
During the season we had live practices on Thursday's.
We should have some sort of a live stream for 20 minutes or so at next week's open mini-camp practice. I would expect something similar at Training Camp.

Ryan Grigson made it clear earlier this week that he really likes the running back class in 2015. However, that also means you can get great value in the latter rounds, so maybe the Colts wait a few rounds to add a ball carrier?
Like I said above, Grigson has found impactful skill guys in the latter rounds in Hilton (3rd round), Moncrief (3rd round) and Ballard (5th round).

Nice piece, Kevin. (Are you getting sick of hearing that? Lol) "necessary cohesion" and "depth behind Adams and Lowery" ... Exactly! Adding another S behind the two certainly is not a bad idea. As a matter of fact, a necessity. Can't wait to see who that will be.
. With a 34-year-old Adams and a 29-year-old Lowery, finding a young guy to groom behind those two (if not challenging them) has to be a key come draft time.

In the future can you see TY taking over the mentor role?
I think we've got a few more years before that. Sure, T.Y. could definitely grow into that but he's nearly 10 years younger than Johnson right now. T.Y. isn't the most vocal guy but there's no question he's learned by example from Wayne, and potentially Johnson.
-
Kevin do you think that TY will be able to learn under Johnson the same way he did with Wayne?
Definitely. I think it will be really beneficial to have a different veteran voice for him to pick. The resumes of Johnson and Wayne are obviously Hall of Fame worthy and I think it will be nice for Hilton to now be a sponge for another one of the game's best receivers of all-time.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this piece, Kevin! It certainly is a luxury to have the WR corps that the Colts now enjoy. I've said it before and I'll say it again ... this is one of the most dangerous WR corps that Indy has ever had. The depth of it mirrors that. Then you have the TEs. RBs out of the backfield with good hands. Luck is loaded for bear in 2015.
Thanks. I don't think there's any doubt that outside of Andrew Luck, Chuck Pagano's presence was a certain selling point for Johnson, who didn't have his shortage of enticing options wanting him.

The June 10 mini camp open to anyone? If so, what time? Early morning or afternoon?
No times have been announced but usually they are free to the public and run from around 2-5 in the afternoon/evening.

Good morning Kevin Bowen My name is Dru Dash out of Charleston Sc.. I just wanted to know how u feel about Getting players that played college basketball and not football since being in high school. Do you Feel its worth getting them and trying to make them become something in the NFL or do u think we could use that time with someone who shows great potential and Has played college football and has what it takes to fit in to are System.
Definitely. Just a few weeks back the Colts signed Demarco Cox out of Georgia Tech. Cox played college basketball for the Yellow Jackets. This time of year is when you see those types of moves. The roster can have up to 90 players on it so there is plenty of room to take in a project like guy and see if you have found something.

"Horseshoe Bay, Tx." Love it. You know, Kevin, may just be an interesting topic to write on as far as where the Mailbag questions come from all over the world. Even the ones that do not make it on the board. Would love to see a compilation of "all" various locations one day. Would be an interesting read. Thanks.
I'm shocked each and every week about how global (international, too) the mailbag is. The fan base clearly spans all across the United States and I've seen countries like Germany, England and Saudi Arabia all send in questions.
-
Could the colts run that speed rush formation the giants used at such a high level. I believe it was their "nascar" formation. It said in the article we had 5 players who were previous starter pass rushers. Would that type of formation work with our guys?
Definitely.
Later in the year, the Colts used several multiple edge rushing packages with around 3 outside linebackers on the field at the same time.
I think that will certainly be in play a good amount in 2015.
-
Thanks, Kevin. This may be the best 'Mailbag/Responses' I have read. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, Brent.
We are getting a ton of really good questions each week and I wish I could put them all in the mailbag (having to save some for the future weeks). It really seems like the way the season ended, coupled with the moves earlier this month, has fans very interested to how the rest of the offseason plays out.

Kevin I like the RB from IU Coleman witch is projected late 2nd or 3rd round. IMO just as talented as Gordon . Would love to have him in a Colts uniform. However not sure we will go with a RB that early. My thoughts are the OL , DL , Secondary more important overall. Your thoughts ?
I tend to agree with where you're coming from. Running backs are dropping more and more every year so quality talents are around in the mid rounds. I'm with you on the positions that look to be more of a need entering free agency.
-
watched heenan play for 3 years with the saskatchewan roughriders I don't recall him playing G in canada as he was a T BUT I agree I believe his best position will be at G.
Yeah at 6-4, you just don't see too many NFL tackles at that height. Sounds like guard and then center will be where Heenan get his first look.

Neither Reggie, nor Redding gave much of an indication one way or another when they met the media on Monday. Both spoke in the future tense about the team but reiterated that they need to sit down with their families before making a decision.
Pagano lumped Ballard into the other IR rehab guys as looking to make a full recovery. Ballard was at the facility virtually every day during the season, constantly rehabbing. IMO, he is the Wild Card at the running back position after two contact injuries have ended the last two years for him.

Marcus, you aren't the only Colts fan that has thrown the name of Suh around.
It's wayyyy too early to know how realistic that is but I don't disagree with the defensive line move. You have some solid young pieces on both sides of the football but finding a young defensive lineman would surely help that area (considering the uncertain future of Cory Redding).

Just wanted to pop my head back in and thank everyone for all of the kind words.
Like I said yesterday, producing content for Colts.com was a dream and something I loved doing on a daily basis. That wouldn't have been possible without all of you reading, listening and watching some of my work.
I'm not sure what is next for me, but am excited about the possibilities.
Once again, thank you. You don't know how much it meant to me to read this forum.
