Glad to see your forum return subvet. Hope you're doing alright. Yes, sometimes life forces us to re-arrange our plans. No doubt about it. Hang in there.

  2. 97 days till the season starts, so close yet so far...

Let me know when we are down to 25 days & then I can countdown like it's a spectacular Christmas present under the tree. Woo Hoo!

  3. A reply I made now has a gold star that says "[popular" on it, first time I've seen something like that. Now I'm wondering what other surprises are programmed in to this board?

Popularity is fleeting, never got to set at the "cool" table in school.....

      BrentMc11

That is hilarious subvet!!! I was an athlete that was not in a clique....I can relate.

  4. Ahh, fall is here.

Hey subvet, nice to see you back my friend! Real football games on the TV docket is a BEAUTIFUL Thing isn't it?!!

Gotta love it in the tough temps you have to work in...glad you have some relief

It's especially tough now that I don't have computer access, I can read posts here any time but for some reason my tablet won't keyboard won't let me post here so I get on when I can and hopefully stay current enough to get my "fan" card punched.

  5. Ahh, spring is back. Temps in the 50s after a week of record highs.....

well, I admit, I became a fan because of Peyton, watched him at UT and followed him to Indy, but now I am a Colts fan.

What's not to love about the Colts? <3 Lions are my number 2 team, so.. you take the good years with the bad and support your team!

  7. Another winter storm blowing through, who was it asking where the snow was??

we had a lot of wind, just a few snow flurries so far.

    3. southwest1

      southwest1

Ditto here in Wisconsin too Gramz. High winds & just a few flakes. No real accumulation yet. I never understand why people spend good money to go downhill skiing when I do that everytime it snows on my metallic forearm crutches. Not fun at all in my humble opinion.

    4. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

SW....one thing I will never be is a skier....wanted to at one point...I'm feelin it thinking about it buddy!

  8. Beat the Ravens then go visit the Broncos!!

  9. Dallas, Nov 22nd, 1963 find a way to change what happened. And no, I haven't read the Stephen King novel yet--but it's 3rd on my list.

  10. Daughter got engaged 2 weeks ago and today I read an article that the "average" wedding costs almost $27,000!!! Anybody know a millionaire looking to give money away??

I am with you shecolt. We cannot just give an open check....or we will drain our savings. I have known people who have spent 100K on a wedding....craziness in it's utmost form.

    3. subvet

      subvet

Yeah but you should have seen the glares I got from my wife AND daughter when I (jokingly) suggested to have it in a country church we all know and have a pot luck in the basement.....

I could feel the stares even though I wasn't looking their way. Evidently wedding days are nothing to joke about.

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

Yup, for the bride to be it is their opportunity to play the role of princess. Everything is for her: the cake, the gown, the photographer, the presents, & the shiny diamond ring...Meanwhile, no one came to see rental tuxedo boy & all he gets is a thin silver band on his finger that looks like a washer that fell off a major appliance. Wedding are no laughing matter from the female perspective...EVER!!!

"Enhance your mellow" ...It sounds like a t-shirt slogan for NY Knicks basketball player Carmelo Anthony's fan club to me anyway.

Terrible to have to make that choice. The weather has been back and forth . But extremely hot this past weekend. sweltering!

    3. southwest1

Air conditioning, ice cream, & root beer floats always feel good in the Summertime.

  13. Forget what I said last night about the heat at work. Just spent 8 hours in a freezer the size of a basketball court chipping ice at -10 degrees. I hope to warm up by morning......

    1. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

You are going to have a 'pothole' forming in your bones....big change in temps makes concrete crumble....not good on the bones either. I am living proof.

  14. Gotta go to work early today for safety training. I like the OT but the subject is boooooring!!

    1. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

I would love to sit in...used to train it in trucking. Every industry is interesting. Yes sometimes it is like watching paint dry, but so important.

    2. southwest1

      southwest1

I can sit through almost any lecture topic/safety training as long as I get well compensated for my time & effort. Keeping all your limbs intact & burn free is a good policy in my book.

  15. Great season, next year will be even better!

    1. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

      I hope we can do better....tougher schedule....better roster.....better record.

If you really want to watch it, find the first season and try it. These are the last episodes before cancellation and really aren't as good as the early ones were.

  17. Had a great Easter holiday. Family, food, friends, what more does anyone need?

    1. shecolt

Glad you had a great day. I did until I made the mistake of tasting a Cadbury cream egg. Yuck! Can't understand why anyone likes them. Just tasted like slimy sugar to me.

SW...my left thigh still remembers that long needle...has not been the same since.

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

The sting of that long needle never really goes away unfortunately does it? It still hurts like h*** even years after the fact. Just like #18's departure, it is gonna kill me man because we all know what's comin'up next & we are just waiting for the other shoe to drop with an enormous t-h-u-d...This won't feel good at all. Don't we at least get a sucker for our pain? More like a stiff drink.

  20. Hot at work tonight, lost 6 pounds in 8 hours.....

Ditto! Hydrate! I remember an old NIKE commercial and it said if you're thirsty you're already a quart low!

    3. MAC

      MAC

Methinks that Nike might have a vested interest. :)

My understanding is that thirst is an accurate reflection of need, but that doesn't change the fact that 6 pounds in 8 hours is unhealthy - unless perhaps you are an elephant following a Richard Simmons video.

    4. subvet

      subvet

It wasn't that hot (93 indoors, 102 near the ovens)but it was humid and we were short handed so there wasn't much down time. I always take 4 or 5 liter size bottles of sparkling water to work with me and drink them all but rarely need to "pause for the cause."

Nope, I'll never get sunstroke, my water processing equipment works overtime.....but thank you for the good advise!

So, on Sunday night, traffic on Status Update rises significantly or does that mean the party & festivities start at your place Subvet? Does that make you the Master of Ceremonies then? Just Kidding!!!

It means after the evening news I was both laughing and annoyed with some of the postings on different threads. It was the first extended period spent reading this board and it was not boring.

I cannot believe how much fun this board is....I get on here just to laugh and have fun with friends!!

      :) I'ts a whole different world I guess.

When I hear my brother - who spent the first 40 years of his life living in NJ, then Philly, then Long Island - talking with a southern drawl, my mouth just hangs open in astonishment with probably spit pooling up on my shirt. Not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I just can't wrap my head around it. At LEAST he isn't a Cowboys fan. That would be just too much.

    4. subvet

      subvet

That is a problem because the accent is real easy to pick up, the odd thing is when I visit with friends or family from there, which happens often, the drawl creeps back into my speech and it stays for days after getting home again.

  24. I've lost 70 pounds so far this summer, hope the heat breaks before I do!

    3. southwest1

      southwest1

70 pounds really? If my memory is correct, don't you work in a bakery with hot ovens? That explains you extensive weight loss subvet. Stay hydrated & cool my friend. I don't want you passing out from exhaustion okay. :)

    4. subvet

      subvet

It's all good, the heat at work helped me lose the weight so I will look my best on 14Sept when I walk my daughter down the aisle and give her away to my new son in law. And there is a bonus to her happiness--he has field level end zone season tickets, don't get me wrong, he will be a wonderful husband as well!

  25. Important tip: If you ever need to find the exact center of anything, drop something and it will be there!

    1. southwest1

Thanks subvet now Geometry and circumference finally makes sense & has relevance to me. So much for all those pointless general education college courses in my lifetime. HA! HA!
