There is always a chance that a player comes back after retiring at a young age, but I knew without a doubt after we signed Wentz in 2021, he was never coming back. If he was going to comeback, it would have been before the 2021 season after taking 2 years off which was 2019 and 2020. He would have been healthy by then and had his future more thought out.

So, this isn't surprising as I was ready to move on in 2022 for good and now I am very happy with Richardson and anxious to see how good he can be. Like I said what might of been? IMO, I still think despite not having good longevity there hasn't been 50 QBs better than him on the NFL pro-level. Based on his stats, win shares, overall wins (4 playoff wins too), importance to the team, and talent he may even crack the top 40, but definitely is top 50. As a rookie the Colts weren't as good as the Packers and he beat Rodgers and then Stafford, as a rookie - let that sink in. He was also 3-1 vs Peyton Manning in his career, one win being in the Divisional Round at Denver (2014) where he was an 8-point underdog facing Von Miller and Co.. He also orchestrated the 2nd largest playoff comeback in NFL history by taking out Justin Houston, Alex Smith, and Andy Reid in 2013.

I wish we could've seen more than one Luck¹² vs Mahomes¹⁵ battle or a Luck¹² vs Allen¹⁷ battle. We had just gotten to see the best version of Luck right when Ballard got here to draft him the O-line he so badly needed.

It’s all good!  I enjoy the discussion. I’m all on board with paying two WRs. We did it during the Manning, Wayne and Harrison years and had great success. I guess my point is I would prefer more of a Harrison/Wayne duo bc their skill sets were different and complimented each other. Right now I feel like we have Wayne and Stokley and need the Harrison type. Still, just want to be clear I do think Higgins would be an upgrade. Maybe one or both of them are more than capable of stretching the field and haven’t been given the opportunity bc of the roles they were asked to play for their teams.

Marvin Harrison Jr is that player you speak of

Why all the acceptance of the idea that trading for Sneed is a good idea at all. This is similar to the Buckner acquisition.

The usefulness of free agency is in the ability to pay top dollar to fill a need without using draft capital. We should make the tough choice and try to land an elite corner, if that is the top priority. Giving up a first or even second round pick, and then being strapped with 80 million dollar contract is no way to get ahead.

    Think harder

Hoping Richardson pans out, but unfortunately he appears to be what he showed in college. Decent runner but not much of a passer. Obviously preseason doesn't mean much, and it's too early to tell, but he wasn't a passer in college so not sure he'll pan out more than just a back up change of pace QB for someone. Still, being a major Colts fan, I hoping I am dead wrong and he turns out to be at least a 4 year spark and turns out to be at least a decent QB. Really hoping I'm wrong.

What are you watching???? He's displaying elite arm talent out there. Decent runner? He looks as quick as Lamar. You seem like a hater to me, either that or you just don't know what you're watching because these are some pretty backhanded comments.

Brees would be better than both if he became available.  Not convinced Brady gets this team to the Super Bowl.  Not the same guy.

he was playing hurt this season so idk. I think Brady still has another run left in him.

This is pretty concerning to me. You have a star linebacker questioning retirement when you've already had your franchise player retire. Sounds to me like our training staff isn't doing the best job of getting these players where they need to be health wise and reassuring them. I know that concussions aren't your typical rehab, but it doesn't sound like our training staff was doing all it could to make sure he was getting healthy. Just my two cents.

Players are starting to get worried about CTE. that's it...

You all know that's 2 years away right?

yes. everybody knows. defense in 2020. Trevor in 2021. or maybe Tua in 2020. either way, id be trading TY and talents like him at that age away for draft capital while theyre still worth something. its better that way for both sides. by the time we get a new QB and the game slows down for the new QB, TY will be washed.

How much would it cost to trade from lets say nr 14-15 spot, to get Lawrence?

    everything lol

lol. You use the term pride? Like those players, coaches, and the owner don't have pride in winning?

I cannot fathom your intent here. There is not a single good thing to be had from losing sporting contests on purpose.

we tanked for Luck. and guess what? it made us consistent contenders, and we would be winning a SB in the near future if he didn't retire. nobody cares about that 2011 season. and if we overachieved in 2011 the only thing that would happen is we would've missed out on Luck. nobody would care about the 2011 season any more than they do now if they won 6 games instead of 2.

yeah bud, refusing to tank so you can get a generational talent, as opposed to overachieving when you know your roster is lacking the most important position in the sport, that's called letting pride control you. tends to be a male problem more than anything. it doesn't make you weak, it doesn't make you a loser. it makes you smart if anything. take a loss for one season, and reap the benefits of landing a top QB for the next 10 - 20 years. as opposed to your plan of trying to overachieve and putting us in the middle of the pack for years, just like the Pacers.

Have some fricken spine. The idea of tanking is for losers.....

    ......literally.

lol however you choose to look at it. pride has been known to be detrimental. sometimes it takes more of a man to swallow their pride. its like if some dude is getting cooked out on the court, but he has too much pride to switch and ultimately makes his team lose. hundreds more examples of ways that pride hurts the team.

I dare you guys go tell Leonard, Nelson, TY, Ballard and Reich that we should tank. They would laugh at you.

who cares. if they want to get 7 wins and miss out on both the playoffs, and all the best QB prospects than so be it. pride is both important and a detriment at times. we should tank for a better future. if current players want to compete, they can ask for a trade to a team that has a realistic shot at winning something. we're not it.

pacers are a different story, they are the only team in the NBA that hasnt picked in the top 5 since the 80s.

because they refuse to tank. theyre too prideful. even when they know their team is only average at best, they still try to overachieve.

That's the NBA,which has overexpanded to a ridiculous degree to the point that there's only 2 rounds in the draft that actually matter.  The talent pool is much, much deeper in the NFL, plenty of guys slip through the cracks and can be found by a good GM in later rounds.  After all, that's pretty much literally what the patriots do.

Look at the Browns who had all the draft capital in the world and couldn't suck their way to relevance

Tanking is a crutch for terrible roster management. a good GM can avoid putting his team in a position to need to tank almost indefinitely, if he gets his talent evaluation right.

Speaking of talent evaluation -- we have a guy as our starting QB who has Bill Belichick's seal of approval.  He might be the greatest draft talent evaluator of the current football era. I wouldn't walk away from that lightly or quickly.

and the browns couldn't suck their way to relevance because they had horrible coaching and management. with our HC, Ballards drafting skills, and a generational talent @ QB... the 2020s could be ours. I get a team like the Chiefs got Mahomes at 10. but do you realize how rare that is?

yeah well he also traded him away for Phillip Dorsett.

The colts are a lot like KC. Mahomes came in his first year as a starter and they won . We don’t need a number one pick to find our QB if JB doesn’t work out. We are not rebuilding. A top ten pick we can get by moving up and if it’s the right guy we can win right away with him. We need to be rooting for JB to succeed not worrying about a QB.

believe all you want. JB isn't the guy. hes just another one of them guys thatll put you in the middle of the pack. and that is the worst place to be in sports. youre not a contender, and you also miss out on the elite draft prospects. some people are just too prideful for their own good.
