  1. That year we won the super bowl.. For the most part, we couldn't stop the run. TOTAL RUSHING YARDS 1762 2768 RUSHING (Plays-Average Yards) 439 - 4.0 519 - 5.3 TOTAL PASSING YARDS 4308 2548 PASSING (Comp-Att-Int-Avg) 362 - 557 - 9 - 7.9 266 - 415 - 15 - 6.5

bold letttering... when a tean cant throw against you theyre going to have to run the ball and that season we a two games for 250+ yards against us so if those were average number drop the total by 150-200 yards and thats a pretty balanced team. also they had 15 picks while giving up 16 TDs. not on top of the forced fumbles. if i was facing a team with that good of a passing defense then i would try and run the ball down their throats too. just my opinion. and also keeping the ball away from peyton manning.. run the ball get manageable 3rd downs by running the ball keeping yourself out of 3rd and long extending the drive burn more clock less time he would get the ball. you see teams do that to every great qb. keep the ball away from them. 22nd in pts allowed 22nd in yards not aa bad defense

22nd out of 32 isn't good on any scale

22nd allowed 1st being the most given up you want to be on the lower end of that.

  3. So you're saying that Jake Long has been with the Dolphins for 10+ seasons, and fans don't want to see him go, but his age and salary cap are a factor? I did not contradict myself, I see it as two totally different situations in the two. Jake Long has declined in the last two seasons, however, Dwight only managed to put up lower numbers this season (in a new position). Jake Long is supposedly the franchise LT of the Miami Dolphins, and saying that he's a cap casualty and not a release on play is ridiculous. Yes, cap space is a factor, BUT, the two situations are entirely different.

there really isnt a franchise player outside of qb in this league anymore because youre not going to go out and spend 70+ for 4-5 years on a skill player unless they are calvin johnson who makes 132 mil in the next 6 years. im not saying youre entirely wrong im just saying the situation is pretty much the same. im with you on freeney being a favorite player and no many fans probably dont care to see long go because oline doesnt get recognized enough for what they do. most of the year the oline in the colts got the blame when we lost but when we won it was all andrew luck. if we bring in long and he fits our scheme and can line up without replacing costanzo then im all for it. would he get 10+ mil a season from us no. will he get that from any team. maybe. his rookie contract is the reason hes makde so much money. which is why the new rookie contract system has been developed. yes dwights numbers werent there and hes been declining in the new position but that wont stop him from going to a team where he can thrive in the scheme. getting personel to fit the schemes that you run is how you win in the league. you can have as many superstars as you can sign but if they dont fit what you run youre not going to get anything done. so if long fits our scheme then yes i would love to get him. all im saying is that the situations are more similar than youd think

  4. The difference being Dwight Freeney isn't fitting our new defensive scheme, and the cap space could be used on potentially three young talents. Dwight Freeney has been, and always will be, my favorite player in the NFL. That being said, the team's new direction hasn't been the right fit for #93.Jake Long's situation in Miami IS entirely different from our situation with Dwight.

    1. Age: 11 seasons versus 5?

    2. Salary: Dwight - 14 Million vs Jake - 11 Million

    3. Position: OLB/DE vs LT meaning Expendable (because of age) vs Team Building.

Jake Long being released in Miami IS NOT the same as us potentially parting ways with #93.

okay read some previous post up there about the different coach schemes with the oline. didnt fit or looked lost in the scheme. cap space could bring in 3-4 players in miami and build a team. you seriously just contradicted youself so many times in just the first sentence alone. because hes a colt you will bias towards him its pretty much the same situation. the only difference is age

  5. you know the only reason he is getting so much money right now is because he still has his rookie contract. which was 57.75 mil over 5 years. if he doesnt pan out in miami dont expect him to be asking that much because he was the 1st pick in the 08 draft and you are not going to get resigned by that team? either youll take a pay cut or test fa and learn your not going to get as much as you expect. most i see him getting is a 30-35 million over 4-5 years which still isnt a unrealistic number. its not because hes bad its because they can take that cap space and add pieces around their qb they took. also say he sucks because his team wont resign him is kind of like the dwight freeney situation. hes been an outstanding de for us over the years and because he will probably want a big contract instead of taking the pay cut he sucks now to? hes had injuries and his numbers havent been there so now all the sudden are we going to say dwight freeney is overrated? probably our best draft pick outside of peyton manning or andrew luck.

  6. Ballard had 800+ yards this year behind a bad oline and he didn't even start the season. He can be a big numbers back. We don't need running back.

true but lattimore best rb in college or was before the injury played in the sec just imagine that duo. kinda like what the vikings had in ap and chester taylor. ap runs em over wears em down and brought in taylor. just something id like to see. i didnt really check his stats so thanks for pointing that out.

  7. F/A

wes welker.(move hilton up to 2) not conserned justd be nice

brent grimes.(so we have a cb to line up with davis and butler/powers for nickle) cherry on top

anthoney spencer(if hits f/a) or kruger either would be nice  2nd so draft wouldnt have to be all defense and we can go for more in the draft with our limited picks

idonije or melton for -would want either same as above

long and levitre(top priorites) move costanzo over to rt where he played in college

    draft

1st jordan (if he doesnt move up) if he does okafor would be nice but i would love to see indy take a chance on lattimore because our last dominant back was james. dont really see ballard being a back for big numbers.

3rd go for a&m olb if jordan isnt 1st pick.

4th move bathea over to ss to replace zib pick up tyrann mathieu and move hiim to fs where his skill set will employ the best and special teams is a plus as a dynamic return like patterson of the cards   or go oline here if fa doesnt fill any holes

  8. okay so with all this money for cap space in the offseason i think we should deffinatly focus on some holes in the line and try for long to move costanzo over to rt and also go after the g from houston who really powered their run game. and then sign some front 7 players so were not just strictly focused on that in the draft. anthoney spencer is a name thrown around out there that would be a pick up for freeney which i really like. then we can go for avril or kruger. kruger rather than avril because he played in baltimore under pagano so he knows the system a little better and wouldnt have to adapt to the system. maybe go pick up welker and move hilton up to #2 so then we have all the weapons for andrew luck to run wild next year.

draft wise with pick 1. jordan if he doesnt climb up the board and if he does draft since there is a potential steal in day three (which will be a sleeper) take marcus lattimore in the first since we dont have a 2nd because we have a rb in ballard who is good in 3rd situations and lattimore could be that 1000 yard rusher that takes pressure off of luck and it would add so much depth to rb slot. with the 3rd round pick that we get go for a&m lb or trade up to the second and draft a nice big physical nose tackle. 4th if we dont trade up get a lineman to add more depth and sit behind some big maulers we went and grabbed the offseason. and in the 6th not many people will agree with this but tyran mathieu who is very phisical and explosive on the ball and not to mention his special team skillset that he could bring and take some pressure off of hilton could be moved from cb to fs where his skill sets will employ the best of him and the colts would help him with his off the field problems with all the leaders they have on the field in the staff and office.

any comments on it let me know because if this would happen i think we would have a legit shot at running the table next year
