So four times in 8 years.

We've just spent $200m to stay the same. I mean instead re-signing Stewart and extending Franklin sign Arik Armstead and Frankie Luvu than add a safety like Kamren Curl and a CB like Sean Murphy-Bunting. That would've cost us, what, $20m year more? Tell me the defense wouldn't instantly be better...

Absolutely no proof the D would have been better even though you spent 20M more which we currently don't have considering paying the draft choices. I prefer that we signed our own who are very good players and still have some bucks left to sign possible a CB and FS that is still left in FA.

Really surprised you continue to be a Colt fan. Seems the only player you express as liking is AR.

And if he gets it done some will complain about what was given up for him or what his new contract costs.  Some fans wants a team of 53 all pros playing on vet minimum contracts and if that’s not delivered the GM doesn’t know what he’s doing.

And if they do have all 53players on vet minimum and the don't win a SB then they will want the GM fired.

Not a huge PFF fan but they know a heck of alot more than I do about NFL position ranking but judging best at each position is very subjective and I have seen him ranked higher than they have him. Like asking 20 people to rate the top ten best pizza parlor in Indy and you are not going to get everyone rating the same. The thing about Sneed is he is so talented Spagnuolo has him on the outside, in the slot and in  the box depending on the situation.

I think each coach may have different traits they may be looking for in a CB so as I said I think it is very subjective. Bottom line is I would love to see him in a Colt uniform next year and many years to come!!

Adding Sneed would obviously make the the team better,   but he isn't a top 10 corner in the league by anyone's standard.   He isn't the best corner the Chiefs have.   Paying him 23 million isn't going to happen for any team.  Poor Destin got played

Not surprised you are concerned about paying him 23M but I question your statement that he is not a top 10 CB by anyone's standard.  I know I don't count but he is by my standard.😉

I think most colt fans would rather have a great safety or corner then a backup DT.

So the choice is a great safety or corner or a backup DT? I would say 99.9% of Colt fans would want that. Are you saying all things being equal Ballard chose a backup DT over a great safety or corner? He had that choice?

He is a statue but he also is smart and knows how to win. I would trust him to win a couple of games if AR is out. We are getting him for cheap as well and needed a solid backup, Sam wasn't it. A lot of the media had the Browns going to the AFC Title Game before the playoffs started with him in there. I am not sure why anyone would complain about this.Homer Reaction GIF by MOODMAN

2006, you've been around here long enough to know that anything the FO does you should be able by now to know the guys that will disagree. I sure you're not surprised!

It’s the samething every off-season.  People ignore how Ballard does things and expect him to sign all these big name free agents and when it doesn’t happen people get upset.

I am not going to sit here and say Ballard’s approach is perfect but like I said yesterday, good, bad, or indifferent this is who Ballard is.  Fans would be better off if they accepted it.  For the record accepting is not the samething as agreeing with it.  It’s just accepting this is who he is going to be and acknowledging that when you develop expectations for how he will operate.

I hear you 88 but this goes on every off-season during FA, the draft and then all season long. I was thinking that was why they put up the Ballard Grievances Thread but it didn't make a difference. It is what it is.

  8. Just got onto this sight and went to the Colts FA thread and thought I mistakenly got on the Ballard Grievances Thread. Ballard could trade MAC for Mahomes and several on this sight would be critical of that move. Ballard or for that matter I believe no GM would ever be accepted by many on this sight. Very disappointing coming to read about my Colts only to find a bunch of supposedly Colt fan being critical of every move the Colts make.

I believe him being injured was a huge part of it, but I would not doubt at all his wife wanted him to retire as well due to him getting banged up. He had the money to do so and could be a stay-at-home family man with his wife and kids and be 100% healthy. To me that is very believable.

I see nothing wrong with what AL did. He was getting his butt kicked due to the franchise not building a decent OL. Luck is a very intelligent guy with a beautiful and successful wife and a beautiful new baby and was smart enough to know his own body and knew if he kept taking a beating it could effect his brain and cripple his body which would effect his future. He not only had millions to retire on but the brain to earn well in society.

Yes his decision hurt the franchise but we will survive. He made a huge decision to retire. I appreciate his decision as a person who has had a double knee replacement and a couple back surgeries that has affected my quality of live as I didn't know when to back off.

To think this is a precursor to any future Colt QBs that get married and have children is a little silly. Marriage and having children have a tendency with most men to buckle down and work harder at their jobs. I think AR, coming from his background will be one that will work his rear off to assure that his children will have a better life than he did like I and I think most men who were not born with a silver spoon have done. God bless he and his family.

  10. I like Rick and got to know him from the gym we both belonged. Good guy to talk to and knows football. I haven't listened to the to the podcast but from the early comments I read I have concluded,(1) Rick has a vendetta with Bradley of some kind and (2) I don't agree that he as a Colt color man on some Colt broadcasts should be so critical of any player or coach publicly to the extent he appears to be.

Do I think we could do better at DC, yes but we could also do worse. Unfortunately our DBs are more cover 2 or zone guys which Bradley wanted for his D and most are not the best at man coverage in my uneducated opinion and we would have to adapt to man coverage till we replaced our current DBs. Seems that Steichen is pleased or Bradley would be gone.

I like Pittman and I'm fine if he stays but I've always said we could do better. My opinion probably isn't popular but I stand on it.

Do better? We need his talent and 2 more like him to be a real contender. Most top contenders have as many as 3 good options at WR (excluding KC). He is our best and a good receiver but is not at the top of WR in the league.

The same 'fans' in here bashing Freeland were the same ones bashing Raimann last year. Freeland is learning on the fly just like Raimann last year and will be just fine with some more strength and conditioning work.

Witt, cut from the same cloth as Raimann and Freeland has been sitting on the IR all year for his redshirt season doing the same - strength and conditioning, practice reps and film work.

The starting 5 are fine, injuries aside, and the line is a top 5 line in the league and will likely stay that way. Depth is needed on the interior.

I wasn't a Raimann basher last year and don't feel I am bashing Freeland to say he hasn't look good the last few games. Hope everyone is back and playing great next year but I am concerned about the future of Kelly and Smith. Nothing would please me more than to see both back next year and playing at pro bowl caliber level.

It's not that he hasn't assembled any, it's that he missed on a bunch with 2nd rounders before hitting. It took a while.

May be your opinion but may have said he missed period and should have gone for the Washington DE or draft one early this year.

  14. Hope you're right about Kelly. He makes a difference when he is out there but I know he has a slew of concussions and they brought home the twins which they were soo happy to have.

Smith is good when out there but as the saying goes, "The best ability is availability." Hope they are both back at full strength.

  15. Have a gut feeling we will need to be replacing both Kelly and Smith next year. Hope not but seems Kelly for sure and Smith has been very non-productive this year for what we are paying him. Freeland has been disappointing the last few games. We just can't seem to keep guys healthy.

Yes.  This situation seems a little weirder.  Sam hasn't even gotten a chance to be a villain....outside of two games last year where he could not be the savior.  The villain in the Commanders game was Gilmore blowing coverage on a hail mary-ish TD throw, and Pittman missing an easy catch of a perfectly thrown NFL pass.

But, after pointing out this Obvious, I'll be forever labeled a "Sam Lover"

    Sam lover!😠

    You played in the NFL?

No. I played so long ago that my first helmet in Junior High was a leather helmet with no face mask. You could fold it up and put in in your locker, I did graduate to plastic helmets with face masks in HS. That was the end of my FB career and only played baseball in college. To give you an idea of how long ago that was I will be going to my 62nd HS class reunion next June. I have been a diehard FB fan ever since then, however.
