Jonathan Taylor comments on his contract/Request trade (Merge)

We’ll see what they say when he is a former teammate. Of course they aren’t critical now. -

If you don’t think he is isolating himself from the team even when he is present, that’s your opinion. I think he is and he is using the hoodie to help with the isolation. He might as well pitch a tent and sit in it during practice. BTW, the hoodie at the Eagles practice read “I am stronger than my darkest." What a teammate. -

In addition to his high skill set, he has been portrayed as a great guy. Faking an injury — if that is what he has been doing — and doing his pouting/hoodie act certainly casts his character in a different light. That won’t help his trade leverage. Why wouldn’t he pull the same stunt in a year or two when he feels underpaid again, even though he is under a new contract? Remember that he is under contract now and only a few months ago emphasized that he understood he was under contract and was fine with it. Forget the money. His behavior the past month is a cancer that needs to be excised. -

True but this late in the pre-season most teams probably have this year’s budgets pretty tight. So even if they have a lot of cap space in 2024, this year might be an issue. -

A defender of Bob Irsay. That must be a lonely place. If you were going to refute my comments it would have been more sensible to say Jim Irsay is a much better person and probably also felt a little bad about Johnny Unitas and the Mayflower. -

I don’t know if you are old enough to remember the infamous Mayflower middle of the night move or how shabbily the Irsays treated Johnny U, but it was enough to cause him to no longer root for the Colts. Unlike the late, great Johnny U, I still love the Colts football players. Of course the Irsays didn’t treat me like smelly garbage. -

This gets dumber by the day. All Chips In just barely got through spouting his latest drivel about welcoming Taylor back. Meanwhile the GM obviously wasn’t listening to him…fortunately for the team. -

I don’t know what “the media” feels and I suspect they have a multitude of opinions about Taylor’s situation, but I think the recent history of this situation suggests he is mostly faking his continuing injury to ensure he gets paid while he boycotts the team. Would it have mattered if Irsay hadn’t done his meandering interview about running back pay? Maybe, maybe not, but at this point I think Taylor will be the ultimate winner. He won’t have a bad year behind a bad offensive line and will eventually find a better spot next season. -
Anyone think we will see either guy on the field often this year? Both out injured and we haven’t even played a game. And of course, their shared agent seems to be regarded as trouble. Oh well, we should get another premium #1 pick next Spring.

Yes, but the real news is JT’s hoodie is being traded to Miami for a pair of cleats to replace the ones our rookie QB foolishly gave away last week. -

Heidi game, part 2. Most of these NFL Network clowns need an education on history. -

Cliff’s Notes JT summary: He’s healthy and reluctantly will be playing on his contract; no, he won’t play without an extension; he’s in camp with his hoodie but he’s pouting and says he’s still hurt; nope, he’s gone again somewhere to get treatment; huh uh, he and his hoodie definitely are back; nope, he and his pal hoodie are definitely gonzo. -
Good decision. AR is like a second year starter in college, which means lots of mistakes as he grows. Hopefully All Chips In is uncharacteristically patient and gives him at least two or three years to learn. This also gives Ballard the chance to build towards two or three years from now. A good place to start might be trading declining highly paid players and the disgruntled hoodie though his value surely is not sky high now. But at the same time they shed assets, if they can get any help for oline it would prove they learned from the Luck experience.

The Colts in 2022 were terrible as a team, not just the QB. I don’t expect many wins and hope they give AR all of the snaps so we can find out if he looks like the future. If not, we can copy what the Cardinals did a few years ago and draft another #1 QB, perhaps even the USC QB if we are bad enough. No need to either bash or praise AR today. Just let him play every game and see what happens.

Wow, what are we paying that kicker? Looked like a duck hook golf shot.

Great TD pass to Pierce! Dropsie.
