If Grigs would just leave him alone and let him Coach and would Draft some O.Lineman and 1 Good Pass Rusher I would be ok with briniging them both back. The Players seem to love Chuck.

Grigson, IMO, should not have the power to dictate who plays, or choosing coaching staff. At least not unilateral power.

These rumors persist about their relationship. If they are true then, as the article says, Jim has a big decision to make. No coach worth his salt is going to stand for a GM who meddles in the starting lineup and your staff hires. It looks to me like Grigson needs the boot.

If this is a fact, it would be very difficult/impossible for ANY coach to direct the team.

I'm the biggest Peyton supporter I know but there is no way you can pull Peyton for Brock if you start Peyton. That said if Brock struggles or the team isn't clicking you can bring Peyton in. So I agree it might make more sense to start Brock and save Peyton. I do think Peyton will probably get the start if he is healthy...but his foot may not hold up. I'm glad he had that one shining moment in the sun...but to expect him to play from start to finish may be too much. Peyton still has it up top its very very clear but the body is failing him. I want him to go out in a flash of glory...but realize it is more likely to be the agonizing pain like the KC game. Rarely do players get to go out on their own terms. Even an old (healthy) Peyton is better than Brock but an old (unhealthy) Peyton probably isn't enough.

    I agree with this 100%.

This must be why Kubiak is hesitant to name Manning the starter. Maybe the best case is have Brock start and then have Manning come off the bench again. Not ideal but do whatever you have to do give the team a chance to win.

IMO, that's actually not a bad idea.

It's not a point about any Kubiak / Manning camp. Manning was the starter till he was injured. He is still the starter.. I am pretty sure that the FO of Denver wants Manning to have his chance because of what he has brought to the Broncos since he has been there. Elway knows from experience what having an experienced QB can bring. When Elway won his last ring it was the defense and the running game that made it happen.

You're going to turn blue in the face trying to reason, but as a Colts fan, a blue face is good. :)

It's because he hates Peyton haha I just laugh at the haters at this point. Point proven today. I really don't want to start anything so I will leave out who I want to call out that said Peyton was done but they look pretty silly about now and they know who they are. Cant wait for the Playoffs.

It's unreal how blinded some of these people are by their dislike for Peyton. I realize Peyton isn't who he was, so don't call me blinded by my love of Peyton. It's only logical to use a HEALTHY, rested Peyton. He brings a lot more to the line than a young, inexperienced Osweiler.

Nope want around.  Only caught the end on the radio really.  He came in halfway through the third correct?  He was 5/9 for 62 or 69 yards.

That doesn't scream amazing to me.

LOL, he knew what to call because of his vast experience. Peyton put them in the best plays.

Yes it does. There are pro and cons in both cases and it's not heresy to admit it.

I just saw one of your other posts suggesting they should have kept Osweiler in even if they lose. What sense does that make? There's no sense in having any further discussion with someone taking that stance.

All 2 of the games Manning has played well in have been acknowledged by everybody including me. I get where you're going with the 3 Superbowl trips. You're dancing around his other playoff trips which amount to a losing playoff record in spite of the addition of 3 Superbowl runs. Talk about being stubborn.

This Denver team has a D like no other Peyton has ever had. The run game tonight is like no other Peyton has ever had. Assuming the D and the run can maintain, Peyton has a better shot at winning the SB than he had in his previous 2 losses. Osweiler might be younger, but he lacks experience. Peyton can adjust at the line like no other QB in the league. He only needs to hold up for 3 games. It makes no sense not to go with Peyton.

What if it is snowing and cold in Denver in two weeks like it was for the Pats game? That would be horrific for Peyton but you are right. I think Kubiak has to roll with Peyton but at this point I have no idea what he will do. I did not think he will pull Brock today.

If they can keep a strong run game going, the weather will be less of an impact. A good run game is good for any team in those conditions, not just Denver.

The Bengals have no chance without Dalton. It is a killer that they lost to Denver as they needed the bye in order to get Dalton back. McCarron is a nice kid but after a solid first half where his receivers made some acrobatic catches for him, the Denver defense ate his lunch in the second half. Maybe they luck out and draw a favorable match up in the wild card round at home but I don't see them beating KC or Pitt (if Pitt makes it in), maybe the Jets but I would not bet on it.

I have a friend that's a big Bengals fan. I said the same to him. I certainly don't think they'll go as far as the AFCCG, but they didn't get blown out at Denver. IMO, still an impressive performance (at least for part of the game) for a team with a backup QB.

Then saying Peyton has a torn plantar fasciitis makes no sense if we all knew the OP was leaving that part out.

We'll have to agree to disagree (although I'm not sure what I would be agreeing to disagree on). In a nut shell, all I'm saying is I'd go with a rested, healthy Peyton in the playoffs. If Peyton is still suffering from plantar fasciitis, then he wouldn't be healthy, therefore not the better option.

  13. 1 hour ago, BloodyChamp said:

That's everybody's suggestion. You threw it out there like nobody here knows Peyton is hurt. There is a reason why Brock is the answer to the "best chance to win" and it's not because he has the coolest shoes or something.

I am responding to the OP's subject "osweiler or peyton?" (I won't capitalize either as I'm quoting the OP). I assume the OP meant if both Osweiler and Peyton were healthy, otherwise the question would make no sense. If the subject was "Osweiler or an Injured Peyton?", I would not go with an injured Peyton.

Which is why he's not the best option at quarterback. It's why he was benched to start with.

I'm not sure what your point his here. It's my post suggesting he is still dealing with plantar fasciitis, therefore not playing. He's obviously not the better option if he has plantar fasciitis.

Yes. I don't think it would be the best idea to wait till next year to get him back into the swing of taking hits again and getting him back into the flow of playing an actual game, He is going to take hits no matter if its this year or next(Paul George for the Pacers dealt with the same issue after a season ending injury and I argued the exact opposite way as I am arguing now), Thats just part of the game and a product somewhat of him hanging onto the ball to long and WR's not getting off tight coverage.....Its best to get any rust off him now rather then next season...Because you know the starters don't play enough in the preseason to do that

Probably take more than 1 game to get the rust off and they'll all be rusty anyway after the off season.

If I were Kubiak I'd ride Brock and give Manning garbage time reps if there is any garbage time in SD.  Then in the playoffs Brock has to be your starter anywhere the wind even blows a little (which is the whole AFC playoff picture. Manning has to ride the bench.  He doesn't have the strength even when healthy to fight mother nature like he used to.  But you don't leave him cold.  ESPECIALLY if they do make the superbowl and that big game happens to be a calm day in the Golden state...  Then you might just be really glad you saved Manning for a drive or 2.

Plus Brock is already hurt by that atrocious oline of theirs.  Gotta have plan B.

Either way, Denver would be crazy not to bring Manning along. He can and does offer advice to Osweiler during games.

He is paid to play ... i would like to see what he has learned.

I would agree except this game will probably be a meaningless game. If, at this point, there's a 99.99% chance the Colts don't advance, do you risk your franchise QB? For that matter, do you risk injury to any key players? IDK, I'm just thinking out loud. It's kind of like when you're getting blown out in a game, it's not unusual to pull many of the starters when you know you can't win. If you were absolutely sure the Colts can't advance, I say don't start him just because he's getting paid. However, we're not absolutely sure the Colts won't advance (pretty close though).

If we only we played an evening game, then we would know if it really matters. :)
