Good job on the "Hold Me" track JPPT. Yep, I heard that number a lot growing up too. Well done.

  2. Quiz #9....Name this game show where it had contestants pitting against each other to test their knowledge in tunes?!

    1. Nadine

      Nadine

      name that tune

    2. JPPT1974

      JPPT1974

Very good Nadine. Loved that show as a kid!

I remember that show. I'd do alright on a music based program. Not singing. Just recalling verses or stanzas etc.

It's been proven that music sticks in a person's brain extremely well. If you memorize something to music, you'll never forget it.

  3. Quiz #10....What is Snoopy's best  friend name?

Just out of curiosity, did Woodstock ever talk or say anything? He was a strong silent type if I remember correctly.

  4. Quiz #12....What is Snoopy's Alter Ego?

    1. JPPT1974

      JPPT1974

      It is Joe Cool!

    2. alawai

      alawai

Didn’t Snoopy have several alter egos?  WWI Ace against the Red Baron, also a business executive/lawyer type with a briefcase.  Think there were couple more.  Good trivia JP!  Love it.

    3. JPPT1974

      JPPT1974

Yeah he sure did have a lot of egos but Joe Cool was the most!

  5. Hey what did you all do for Halloween? Just hand out candy. Nothing out of the ordinary. BTW it is my least favorite holiday. Just love it for the candy! Tisk Tisk!:cheer:

Pretty much did nothing, just watching the Baseball game. I went to Sam's and bought a huge box of Snicker Bars for the Trick or Treats, had a few earlier lol.

    2. alawai

      alawai

I bought couple bags of Snickers for all the aTrick/Treaters that never show up!  The kids haven’t shown up for 25+ years, parents take the kids to younger neighborhoods, malls and/or Halloween events.  Guess I have two bags of Snickers for myself.  Darn after 25+ years you’d think I’d learn no kids are coming around!  Next year I’ll buy Kit Kat and/or M&M Peanut.  If no one shows up I’ll try to make a mental note.

    3. Nadine

      Nadine

I love halloween.  You get to meet neighbors because most kids go out with their parents.  We got about 20 kids, the best was a mummy with 2 swords!  I turned my porch light into a jack o lantern and I'm pretty sure it drew the trick and treeters in.  Cutest was a little boy who said twick o twee :)

  6. Any plans for Father's Day? My father's birthday and Father's Day BTW, are about on the same day. He does not like it. Just going to have family over for a BBQ. As dad loves everything and anything BBQ. He never met a BBQ he never liked LOL!

    1. TheRustonRifle#7

      TheRustonRifle#7

I agree with your Dad!  I am going to pay some homage to my Father who passed almost 3 years ago.  Then rejoice in the fact that my Daughter gets to spend it with me....

    2. southwest1

      southwest1

It is a good idea to pay homage to our fathers out there even the one's who departed too early. Fathers don't often get praised for their contributions enough I'm afraid. Dad's typically have a unique way of looking at things.

I get my sarcasm from my old man & you better be careful what you ask him because odds are he's going to be blunt, refreshingly honest, & tell you what he really thinks as opposed to what you want to hear.

    3. Nadine

      Nadine

I lost my dad 2 years ago.  Gathered with my family and went to the remembrance mass, then to dad's marker and read from his favorite book 2 weeks ago on the anniversary of his passing.  We had a memorial breakfast after that. The world has changed since he left

My husband is working on Sunday as he always does, luckily he has the early shift and will be home in time for dinner.  My daughters are coming up. Not sure what the dinner plans are.  I expect it will be unreasonably hot as it has been so, anything cold and inside is ok by me

  7. Question #15...Back in the 1980's-2005 After Uncle Walter Cronkite left, who were the three main anchors for the three major networks that had hard news at the time?!

    1. JPPT1974

      JPPT1974

      Peter Jennings

      Tom Brokaw

      Dan Rather

      • Thanks JP
    3. southwest1

      southwest1

I never watched Peter Jennings much, but I know Dan Rather well. I saw all his Vietnam coverage in the field stuff. Mike Wallace was really good too. I remember Tom Brokaw as well. But Tom wasn't half as good as Dan & Mike were. Not even close.

I took a military history course in graduate school & we covered journalism in wartime. I have so much respect for Cronkite, Wallace, & Rather. Those guys were through man & they refuse to be intimidated by any administration in power. They supplied the public with tangible information with no filter. And they were just as tenacious in their youth as they evolved into elder media icons too.

I just remember the sound the board made prior to a contestant stopping on that game. It was a very odd game IMO not really built for TV longevity.

Cool video montages there JPPT.

I like seeing Aretha as a younger woman because most of us are accustom to seeing her in her later yrs as opposed to an up & coming Motown star. Nice.

Sidenote: I liked singer Smokey Robinson's final farewell to Miss Franklin too. Smokey still has a beautiful voice even now & he's one hades of a storyteller too. That guy knows how to work a room & put you in a palm of his hand.

I liked "Goose" in Top Gun. Too bad, he had to die in that picture. A very young Meg Ryan played Goose's wife/window in that film too. Let's not forget the soundtrack with Kenny Logins "Highway To The Danger Zone" on it as well as The Righteous Brothers "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" track also.

Plus, the flight school dogfights in the sky were pretty sweet as well.

Cool quote game @JPPT1974. I never understood why that movie resonated with so many people or struck a chord with them anyway. Probably because I'm not the biggest Tom Cruise fan I guess. It's the whole Scientology thing I think.

BTW: Thanks for the "A Star Is Born" remake film recommendation as well starring Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper. The trailer looks very compelling. Appreciate the heads up! I wanna see the new Freddie Mercury/Queen flick too called "Bohemian Rhapsody" since music is my bag or jam as it were.

Keep doing your thang JPPT. I like it!

  20. IMHO, the 15-yard extra point will be a flop? What do you all think? The preseason will tell it all if it does.

    1. southwest1

      southwest1

I agree 100% JPPT. This new FG rule is dumb. Kickers can still miss field goals all the time & if something's not broke don't mess with it. :)

"Come on, baby, don't say maybe

I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me

I saw Nancy Kerrigan being interviewed about the infamous skating accident recently on MSNBC & she smiled & said I wish people would get past this incident. Yeah right Nancy, like you of all people want people to forget the infamous incident that made you a household name. Get real lady. You love all this attention. Who are we kidding?! LOL! SMH & rolling my eyes in complete disbelief Nancy.
