I agree about the crap JPPT. My son watches it and it is the most mindless fodder ever! Sometimes I just sit and look at it because I can't believe what I'm seeing. One show has a penguin, a donut, and toast as characters. The toast was throwing up out of it's middle. Bizarre.

  5. In with Halloween what was your favorite Halloween TV show like growing up...

"The Adams Family" or the "The Munsters!?"

Love both to be honest as hard to tell.

I liked "The Addams Family."  Cousin Itt was one of my favorites.

    3. southwest1

I just watched the movie "Addams Family Values" recently. I love that scene near the end of the picture where Tuesday played by Cristina Ricci refuses to comply with the pilgrims sanitized version of Thanksgiving &, while portraying an American Indian leader; she proceeds to burn down the village & prevent the english colonists from stealing tribal land, relocating Indians to reservations, & signing fraudulent treaties that would never be honored anyway in American History.

What makes the scene so funny is that a goodie 2 shoes girl at summer camp who thinks she's perfect gets the tables turned on her by Tuesday who has had enough of the blond ray of sunshine. Therefore, it is time to right more than a few wrongs. This definitely isn't the traditional tale we all know & that's why it resonates with me I guess.

    2. southwest1

      southwest1

The reason I like Mr. Cohen so much is that deep voices in music outside of barbershop quartet groups or country groups like the Statler Brothers or the Oak Ridge Boys for instance don't typically reach a mainstream following, but Leonard sure it.

JPPT, did you see the intro to SNL after the election? It was very well done.

Sidenote: My post isn't meant to be perceived as a political statement of any kind. I just like how elegantly this composition was performed that's all.

  7. March 2017 Quiz #4 Who was the name of the actor, that was decapitated by a helicopter while doing the "Twilight Zone" movie in 1982? As two kids died with him as well.

Hint:He starred on the TV series "Combat!"

    1. alawai

      alawai

Ah some things are slowly coming back to me.  Think those two children were also illegal hires.  Not illegal immigrants but illegal hires.  Think because of this incident Hollywood was required to address safety issues.  Thanks again JPPT.

    2. JPPT1974

      JPPT1974

Really not a good way for Vic and the kids to die. As really no movie or TV show is worth dying in real life for.

      JPPT1974

BTW it is on Youtube. If you go to either "Twilight Zone Tragedy Vic Morrow" Or Vic Morrow death it is on there. Not for the squeamish. Will not put this up here due to it being a family friendly board.

  11. Quiz 8 July 2017...What is the Name of the Movie about an FBI agent that posed as a surfer to get a bunch of bank robbers? It was originally made in 1991 with a remake in 2015. Starred the late Patrick Swayze?!

    1. 2006Coltsbestever
    2. southwest1

      southwest1

That was one of the first movies to use bank robbers wearing Presidential masks on.

I never really cared for that flick because it was billed as this fresh crime capper. However, having an FBI agent go under cover as a surfer dude was just stupid in my opinion  & then Brody wanting 1 final ride during a tropical storm on top of a giant wave never resonated with me at all. The FBI's supervisor boss was beyond laughable too.

Just my take. Patrick Swaze's best work was "Road House".

"Be polite & take out the trash...The Double D you know what." Sam Elliot co starred in that film too. Love that guy's voice.

"Theme From A Summer Place" is a nice instrumental number. Only problem is every time I hear it, I think of the frat movie "Animal House."

      Synthetic

Gone Girl, the best movie of last year won nothing. Crappy year.

    2. southwest1

      southwest1

Part of that is due to when the studio releases the picture Bogie. If you wanna get consideration from the Academy, you distribute the film in December so that by the time the Oscars roll around in Late February, Gone Girl is still fresh in voters minds. Plus, female serial killers don't usually get nominated for awards in male dominated Hollywood. Sharon Stone didn't for "Basic Instinct."

    3. southwest1

      southwest1

I will admit though that actress Charlize Theron did win an oscar in 2003's "Monster" portraying a disturbed women named Aileen Wuornos who became a serial killer & was convicted & got the electric chair based on a true story apparently anyway. But normally, violent depictions of real life mass murders don't typically get recognized by the academy in nominations or hardware though.
