Hey hope you all enjoyed the Betty White as a tribute to her. RIP Betty Marion White!

      Santana Rocks!

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

Carlos Santana does rock indeed JPPT & his wife Cindy Blackman is 1 of the best drummers on this planet too. She's incredible with sticks in her hands. She truly is.

I wonder what the odds are on 2 iconic musicians hooking up & walking down the aisle? It must be extremely rare. They seem like down to earth cool everyday folks too. When they tied the knot, I smiled. No, I wasn't there BTW. I wish. LOL!

  3. This is called the new thing "Gone but Not Forgotten" as for people that have passed on. Will put them up as first one of course Princess Diana!

  4. We interrupt albeit briefly over on the Disco to remember the Day the Music Died 59 years ago. And remember Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and JP "The Big Bopper" Richardson. Plus the forgotten victim, pilot Roger Peterson

No, no, no, we're not done with Buddy yet, Let's "Not Fade Away" into the sunset just yet...

I love the percussion playing in this live version as well as the 'bop, bop; bop, bop' chorus refrain.

"Learning The Game" of love & life is never easy. Sigh....Is there a cliff notes version? Ah man.

The Bluejays dazzle us with Buddy Holly mainstays once again. I like it!

This is vintage 1950's rockabilly guitar playing by Mar T Music.

Reminiscent of Buck Owens stuff & the Bakersfield, CA sound actually.

I really like the emotional intensity of this cover of "Everyday" sung by Amelia Wallace.

Buddy Holly rest his soul would be moved by this tribute because it's just so authentic & stripped down.

Good one GFB! When the teacher what can you tell me about the milky way? I raised my hand & said "it's a decent candy bar but the caramel always sticks to my teeth though."

Remember: F stands for Fantastic & A stands for Awful. At least, that's what I kept telling my folks at parent/teacher conferences on my behalf anyway. haha

my mom has an ipad for fun. But I know what you mean. Some people spend more time starting at their electronics than they spend looking at people. My kids are like that

    4. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

Nadine: Same here. If the kids are not good listeners it is frustrating. I have to make them stop and look at me. Especially for important things.

  12. Quiz #5 A little harder this time but what is the date of December 8th 1980? Hint it had to do with a musical icon!

      JPPT1974

Unfortunately Nadine it was not. As really sad that he died like that. Yoko Ono whom I am not fond of but that is another story, you had to feel bad as her husband was brutally shot. And Ruston Rifle it was indeed way too senseless.

The man who killed him went all the way from HI to NY just to kill John L.

Gramz I feel your pain on stacking those boxes. I have several boxes in my storage room with CD's. I keep a selection in my cabinet of discographies to artists by the decade that get the most playing through the stereo.

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

I've never really counted them actually. I have a little bit of everything: CDs, records, cassettes, & an 8 track player that still runs. Yeah, shelving & storage becomes a real issue with extensive vinyl collections no doubt like Gramz & Bogie so aptly stated. I miss record stores actually vs streaming & downloading on computers now. A tornado I survived in 84 destroyed a ton of good stuff I accumulated over the years.

All in all, I haven't enjoyed the Olympics that much in some time. China was just two weeks of reminders that they intend to take over the world. More unsettling than entertaining, and I was rooting against the host country in every respect. These games were exactly the opposite.

104 medals for U.S.! Amazing talent, Congrats to all of the athletes, I have much respect for them all in all of the disciplines! I'm sure the closing ceremony was pretty cool live, the show is staged for a big live production, but ends up a bit wierd on TV.. loved the live recreation of the PF album cover! That was cool.

I sure hope Brazil works on it's Opening Ceremony in the next 4 years....if last night's preview was any indication, I'm not sure I can stay awake for it in 2016. The London games were great and the opening a closing ceremonies were entertaining...doesn't hurt to have musical legends in your backyard to come and perform. Really enjoyed the Queen performance and I had to DVR the Who and will watch tonight.

  18. Watching CNN Special Report on Charles Manson. 45 Years ago that happened. Really guy and his followers were beyond wackos. Even horrifying to yours truly!

Supposedly, the Beatles song "Helter Skelter" told him/them to do it. Hung out with the Beach Boys, wrote songs...probably has no remorse.

There was a TV movie on the Beatles song of the same name. The person that played Manson was way too convincing if the original movie.
