"NFL Media (i.e., the NFL) explained on Sunday that, if Luck tries to return to the Colts before the trade deadline, he has to pass through waivers. That conflicts with my prior understanding of the rules, which was that a player on the reserve/retired list could emerge from retirement at any time before the Tuesday after Week 13, and that if he were released when attempting to return after the trade deadline, he’d be required to pass through waivers."

"Reserve/Retired– The retired list is what players are placed upon if they choose to retire rather than honor their contracts. This is more procedural than anything else. The player does not count towards the roster nor do they carry any cap charges as contracts are treated just as if the player was cut for salary cap purposes with prorated bonus money accelerating and being included as “dead money”.  Teams do maintain the rights to players on the retired list. "

Reserve/Retired List – If a player retires prior to the expiration of his contract, the team can place him on the Reserve/Retired List and retain its rights to the player under the player’s contract.  The contract is tolled, so if, for example, a player retires with 2 years remaining on his contract, and is placed on the Reserve/Retired List, then, if he chooses to “unretire”, the player’s rights are still held by the team to the extent of the remaining 2 years of the contract.

I think that about covers it.

But it doesn’t hahaha. Why are NFL reporters and ESPN saying he does.

really doesn’t matter because he’s not coming back but interesting there are so many conflicting reports/opinions/interpretations of the rules.

    I’ll quote your own article..

”Beyond that, it’s a little murky. NFL Media (i.e., the NFL) explained on Sunday that, if Luck tries to return to the Colts before the trade deadline, he has to pass through waivers.”

the trade deadline has passed. If you continue reading said opinion article, it says he can return between then and the Tuesday after week 13 without going thru the waiver process....

the author then goes on to say the two rules contradict each other so the league would have to clarify this before hand...

Do you have anything saying he can return? Curious since you’re so confident he can return without going through waivers.

They did. He reported to camp so he would have to clear waivers. If he didn’t report, (like GRONK) he could come back.

I must have watched a different Colts-Raiders game.  Almost ALL of his throws were where they needed or should be.  These receivers can't get separation or catch the ball when they should.  How many dropped passes today?

I suggest anyone that thinks the WRs arent getting separation to watch the All-22 from week 2. I’m not saying people are running completely wide open but Open enough in the NFL. He often checks down instead of throwing a WR open.

Appears so. Chiefs released him, and traded Dee Ford because they switched to Steve Spagnuolo’s base 4-3 defense. (From Bob Sutton's 3 - 4)

Why then, would Eberflus desire them?

Houston has played with his hand in the dirt, he will be fine. Going from 3-4 to 4-3 isn’t that big of a deal. It’s when DE go from 4-3 to 3-4 where it can get dicey.

OLB switching to 4-3 no longer have to worry about coverage.

This is a non issue to me.

My only worry with Funchess now is his body catching. I still hope we draft a WR somewhat early for competition as it can easily become a strength.

I believe he had a top 5 catch percentage in 2017 but obviously fell off in 2018 but Cam isn’t the most accurate passer. As others have says he tends to catch with his body but that can be hopefully be coached out of him. He has super crisp routes especially for someone his size so I’m really excited for this signing.

  7. Kansas City does not look stronger, they lost some good players and with the controversy surrounding Hill, they might lose him to suspension or release.

Browns will contend for their division and arguably are the favorites to do so.

We are off to a slow start and it is frustrating even though Ballard has made it clear we won’t overpay but is it overpaying if that’s what the “market” says a players value is? I don’t know if we offered Amos a contract or not but his was very reasonable and would be a major upgrade. Just hope we have another draft like 2018 and not like 2017. Hopefully the 2018 draft hasn’t made Ballard too confident because it could be a 2-3 year setback if we don’t have a strong draft.

  8. According to Pro Football Focus, Brice allowed a passer rating of 150.1 on 29 throws into his primary coverage and missed 12 of 57 tackle attempts. He allowed big plays down the middle of the field and too often swung and missed as an open-field tackler.

Of the 93 safeties in the NFL that played 300 or more snaps last season, Brice ranked 87th in overall grade at PFF.
