Been reading some of the comments and if Cato June is really the only complaint I did my job well, LOL, Cato June had 10 INT's and 2 TD's from 2004-2006 and was a Great playmaker at the LB position in those 3 years and was a key component on our 2006 Championship team. He was super fast and Great in coverage. Marcus Pollard was considered but I just had to leave some players off. 25 is a pretty decent size list though. I actually went over about 500 players, then narrowed it down to 50 out of those 500. Once I got to 50 it got real tough actually.
1 complaint surely aint bad interesting stampeded blue top 50 left him out but do agree with 1 complaint is nothing, never said was bad list=- & top 50 include both Balt & Indy teams

Colts were in Baltimore 31 years. From 58- 71, the NFL mostly came down to Colts and Packers dominating. (And if there had been instant replay for FGs, Colts would have had one of the Packers Championships). Because of that, there are Numerous Colts in the Hall of Fame and Numbers retired.
Then they moved. Should've left the name and history behind. After all, the Browns moved, and Jim Brown isnt considered a Baltimore Brown. Baltimore had to start as the Ravens.
Two different eras now. Cant really compare athletes from 1959 to those of today. It's like comparing a 1959 F104 fighter to today's F22 Raptor.
Colts have been in Indy 34 years. They went to the playoffs in 87, and almost to the Super Bowl in 95. Colts were a Dominant team, winning Divisions and a Super Bowl from 2002- 2010. You would think we've had as many players recognized here as in Baltimore, but we haven't. So, to insist on a COMBINED Top 10 List, I'd say to only accept those (at a Minimum) who have been honored on the Ring of Honor, Hall of Fame, or number retired... if Mike Curtis isnt good enough to make it, how can Bob Sanders be considered???
only comment , yes its true moistly colts Vs Packers ( what a team besides Lombardi & Bart Star What a backfield, may be best 1-2 punch in g history ) , but would throw in the Browns occasionally as Jim Brown led team and wont even mention shut out score in losing to them in national championship
YES mike curtis was devastating player for our defense
sanders there due to becoming the eraser when needed for playoff & SB run, otherwise to hurt and stayed on team for hope of getting healthy

Now thats a list, filled with inclusive players from may an era, 1 may say the order can be changed somewhat but that would be a mute comment and relegated more to personal bias
on 1 of my earlier comments in this post i noted Bert Rechichar, DB, LB, RB , & mentioned he also had record NFL 56 yard FG for colts, and was a punt returner as needed ( had 100 yard punt return TD in college , and also was a wr as needed, know for faking out players to get fre in college) - man was Mr multi positional for the 1950's colts

-I did tons of research on about 50 different Indianapolis Colts players that have played here that were Good to Great. Looked at their Stats and remembered how they have played by my Eye Test and I came up with this list. I am sure some may disagree with my order but at that point we are just splitting hairs. The guys in BOLD are on our current Roster. I have Andrew at 15th which is fair IMO.

Quck look at list and see on Cl.ark on it as only TE
u cant tell me either Pollard or Dilger who always caught the ball and when had contact backpeddled for 5 more yards arent better than cato june
To early in AM to evaluate list properly

I did. There are several of us on here. Plus, Johhny U was in Two Colt Super Bowls.
Would you leave Jim Brown off a list of Cleveland Browns? Montana off a list of Best 49ers? Unitas was THE QB for the 50th Anniversary Team. How can Unitas have rated The Best in 50 year History, yet left off a list of Best Colts?
lets face it won championship before the SB, started the 2 minute drill, 1 SB was hurt all season and only came in game late to try and rescue it , stupid earl morrell though an excellent season didnt see the wide open receiver on a flee flicker for what would of been an easy TD and would of won the game
UNITAS WAS SIMPLY THE CLASS OF HIS TIMES & had the brains , film study and playmaking ability, together with confidence & toughness as detailed earlier to play in any era
In 58 game inside the 12 or 11 he threw an outside pass , caught and went out of bounds near the 2 , only 3 points needed to win , when asked why chance an IT when a FG was enough he said its not taking chances when u know what u are doing
then lets ameche run it in again instead of a FG and a fumble was always possible

Same. I have no problem ranking Indy Colts, and Peyton is #1 by the largest of margins in my book. It's not fair for me to try and compare Unitas and Manning, or really any Baltimore players with any Indy players. I'd put Marvin Harrison over any Baltimore Colt because I got to see what Marvin did every game, while a Baltimore Colt fan might put almost all Baltimore Colts over Harrison.
actually while i liken Unitas to Beery with Moore out of the backfield, to Peyton to Marvin with Faulk or James in the backfield - call them triplets of old & new if u wish
and being old enough & raised on the Balt colts by big brother, & seeing how with a nod from Johnny , Beery would know he changed the call & route based on film study that they did more than anyone back then and that started the 2 minute drive to tie that 58 game
YET Marvin i would give the nod over beery-
Marvin wasn't the biggest , but what he could do with the ball in his hands before he got hurt ( & I still blame addai for running into his knee ) and the sheer brilliance of his double move and best of all the Marvelous hands that caught anything around him as he tipped the ball around dancing along sidelines till ball was secure before going out of bounds
( no catch will ever be the equal to me as the tip toe playing paddy cake with the ball in the endzone for that TD Vs the Pats while somehow staying in bounds long enough for ball to go back and forth , up & down hand to hand then secure, then both feet touch maybe an inch before sideline then just drop forward out of bounds with secured ball for TD ) ----
or simply diving on a bomb parallel to the ground arms outstretched & catching it fully stretched out was to much to ignore- the man caught what over 140 catches 1 year - if u take his shortened time playing and overlap with Rice he has better stats and has done things for more years in a row yardswise, TD wise catch wise over that span than anyone before or later with an = time period

In a way I may be doing a disservice trying to rank Baltimore Colts properly to the old school fans. I never seen them live is why. I can rank the Top 25 Indianapolis Colts of all-time easily because I have seen them all live since 1984. Someone like Jimmy G or Bayone may look at my list as flawed because I wasn't watching Football back in the 50's or 60's and I don't blame them. They grew up with the Lenny Moore's and Unitas' etc..
also 1 must remember as you said you looked at stats , well back then seasons were only 12 games long so less touches for moore Vs James per year and the sport was much tougher on ones body, ( just ask anyone head slapped by Deacon Jones )
What u need to watch is some of NFL networks top 10, The best runs or runs after the catch had that Mackey run I alluded to as 1 of the top ever, You just cant believe how many defenders he knocked over and dragged as he just plowed ahead for a great gain ( dont remember if scored but think was finally gang tackled ) truly showed off hisa power, strength and pure determination )
Finally these old guys never had such conditioning machines nor so many positional coaches , nor nutiionalist who knew anything about fod and thre body as all was though wrong back then etc etc
I will never forget and know i said this years ago Re Unitas that he was basically clotheslines across the head and blood gushed from his nose , today u immediately have a Dr at your side esp the QB , game stops as you are escorted off field after initial assessment if not carted , What happened with Unitas , Between plays Mackey stuffed mud up his nose to try and stop the bleeding, worked somewhat,Unitas still bleeding just marched downfield and threw a td - its not that the game has changed , its really a different game somewhere between old time tackle and the pro bowl for lack of an accurate comparison

Yeah I hated leaving either guys off. Moore did play longer than James as a Colt but James' Stats were far better. James had more Longevity than Dickerson or Faulk though. Robert Mathis is the All-Time Sack Leader in Colts history so to leave him off this list of 11 just makes no sense to me. Jim Parker could play Tackle or Guard and made 9 1st Team All-Pro, also weighed nearly 280 pounds which was gigantic when he played. He is clearly the best O.Lineman ever to wear a Colts uniform so no way he shouldn't be on the list, JMO. I know people love Lenny Moore like Jimmy G does but I think Parker and Mathis belong more. It is all opinion, so I am sure some will agree with me and some will disagree with me.
-For the Lenny Moore fans I would put him at #12 by the way right behind James. I shouldve did a Top 20 LOL. Alot of Bert Jones fans in here too, he just didn't play long enough to be on that list staying healthy IMO much like Bob Sanders. Look at how Good to Great Andrew Luck was in his 1st 3 seasons and he would be lucky to make a Top 20 list of all-time Colts.
I had added this ON MOORE to my original post via edit after u responded to add to back of donovan cards the moore ones
Lenny moores cards say = cpmellinjg stuff,
58 card like he has proved to be one of most sensational t runners to enter NFL in years, like a bolt of lighning streaking down the field with that ball cardled in hand - had best ground gainhing average last year
56 card
talks about how fast he can he hit though holes etc
Lets face it we all had preference, grew up with original colts thats why I have great personal memories and am jaded Via childhood idols & why have PSA judged set of 58 starters & some subs plus some early and later years like Arts Donovans 52 rookie, Obviously Mackey was later , every unitas yearly casrd of cpurse,
talk about multi positional someone called Bert Rechchar-
have a 51 rookie size of a postage stamp( actually was college & in college uniform but officially NFL considered it his rookie card even though his 52 card he is still a tenn volunteer ,
( back then rookie cards could come out before or even a year after a player was on a team and playing - VERY WEIRD
he was a ace pass receiver with great fake out moves,100 yard td punt return ( think was in college but could do it in later years as needed ) , was a "wingback"/ halfback ,at 1 point held NFL record for field goal made- 56 yarder think in 1953 as a colt and was considered 1 of the colts ace DB's , had 5 IT's in 57 i think it was & in 53, voted colt MVP of the Colt DB group as per his 54 card , the 53 card i dont have when he realy became a colt
Belive played some roles on 58 team, not sure what though but doubt started, belive he played in all 58 games but didnt start in any

6. Gino Marchetti
7. John Mackey
8. Jim Parker - Best O.Lineman in Colts history
9. Robert Mathis
10. Raymond Berry
11. Edgerrin James, best RB in Colts history due to Stats and Longevity
-The only 2 players I have in my Top 11 they don't is Mathis and Parker, I took out Lenny Moore and Art Donovan. My order is different though.
cant complain save list needs to be bigger, all should be there, Moore has longer tenure than James BTW
art Donovan from the back of his 1957 card
-1 of the most able defense-men in the league,, made all pro for 3rd straight time in 56 ( dont know about latter years ) has the power to spare and bolts through the line in a flash to smother enemy passers and rack up runners with shattering tackles-. uses his brain as well as brawn . art is one of the toughest men to trap
back of 58 card
1 of the most bruising men on the field,.... opponents want no part of him because he plays to tough... running into him islike butting into a brick wall and when he clamps his massive arms around a ball carrier it looks like he is trying to seperate him from his head
Lenny moores cards say = cpmellinjg stuff,

The comment about the article being misleading was about the mental block about throwing an NFL football. The article mentions it but states that during his rehab he had a mental block. The article made it sound like after Tuesday's practice luck had a mental block .... but that is not the case. It could have been a year ago or 2 weeks ago. I have a feeling the article (not you) was being purposely misleading.
And I have not seen you post for quite a while, I know you typically don't post much during the offseason, good to have you posting again.
Thanks for kind words, had time , saw 2 topics i love Luck & old colts ,, time thats free is rare we shall see if I post or not

So? That doesn't have anything to do with anything I said, except that he threw and NFL football on Wednesday.
i hadn't seen the nice write up of snippets from a listening session nor did i see anything in writing that said a college ball, all i had read was about a high school ball in a few places and thought it was new as was listed under by CBS a topic luck finally throwing
if one clicks on link it says under title Luck was throwing a high school football at Colts minicamp on Tuesday
However the listening session included in article does mention a smaller college ball so me bad for not listening
the listening session also notes as i guessed & wrote he is doing things right not to rush but this is a good step even if smaller ball

agreed , Parker was a fortress protecting Unitas's blindside
Hard to place who is where on list but Moore can run with the best but what a WR as well, or simply out of the backfield best play Unitas hitting him way deep in stride along sideline leading him and keeping him in bounds to keep running for what ended up a 72 yard td if remember right

Wow, that was taking very far out of context. The article said at during his rehab he had a "little mental block". considering he has been going through the rehab process for a year and a half, who knows when he had the little mental block.
I assume since he was throwing an NFL football on Wednesday, that is no longer the case.
Article is dated the 13th which was Wednesday as well

Same...
On first hearing, I winced a touch, but on playback it was a little issue, one he overcame quickly in secret with Frank Reich 3 weeks ago. But hew is still 'bridging between a smaller ball and the NFL ball. It's covered in my takeaways below-
My takeaways (and I went back and listened again to check)-"This doesn't mean I'm going to be throwing a 100 balls a day, 6 days in a row. There's going to be a plan."
His 'big picture' is to mimic a game week, that is what he is preparing for (this means he is on a pitch count for now, but progressing up to fully duplicating it in time) and mimicking the daily regimen. That's big picture. His short term goal is "be ready for training camp, not just participate, but get better, do better, go'. And will mimic game weeks again like he is now.
On throwing the Duke full time-
"I'm bridging right now, and doing overhead tennis serves, which is less stress on the arm" (it's because the player does not release the racquet/ball/ whatever is in their hand) and "I'm using a smaller ball because it puts a little less stress on the arm."
On soreness-
"Last year was pain, there's none of that now. ... I feel better, my dips after throwing (recovery from workout phase amount) are less, my body doesn't revolt to new things I ask (introduces into his program) and those are incremental an planned out very very well so I (he) can adapt to it better." This is exactly what an interval throwing program does. He's trusting in that process but pushes himself and goes hard (within the confines laid out for that day, I'm sure). He will push, but knows not to 'cross the line' and listen when his body says enough is enough (for the day).
On where he is right now and his progression-
"Look, if I went out here tomorrow and threw 100 footballs I'd feel it, and it would be bad, and I'd sitting up here with probably a little different countenance on my face. But I'm not going to do that. There's a process I believe in, there's steps I believe in..."
This guy is not just saying the rigArticle is dated the 13th which was Wednesday as wellht things, you can tell he is Doing the right things, and then reporting it when asked. I believe him when he says he will not suffer a setback and will be ready ofr the Bengals...
I didn’t know there was something to listen to that same interesting take thanks for the snippets

Luck was not actually throwing a regulation football. He was throwing a high school football. And he told Pro Football Talk's PFT Live that he had a "mental block" to throwing a real NFL football.
Give him time, hes just easing back and is making sure no setbacks

Hav'nt been here in ages but this with this trade let me just say its AWESOME
we got tons of trade value in excess of what trading back 3 spots is worth even without next years 2nd round pick
At 6 will be someone thats an still an instant starter of possible pro bowl caliber whether its offense or defense
This is why that division is always so easy for the Pats, all other front offices well they are awkward in their moves while the Pats simply do stunning , clever twists & turns
we can now hopefully select right and Build that balanced Monster around luck that some past coach only spoke of
How Ballard got the jets to agree to this is beyond me, Jets must simply be desperate - this speaks of picking Sanchez the last time they moved up to get a QB & we all know how that worked out

Think about that: over a 10-year span, Freeney and Mathis averaged almost 19 sacks together each season........ but nobody did it better for a longer period of time than No. 93 and 98.
Elliot Harrison's Top 5 0- NOTE are basically individual years, not over a long term period ( whomever owns stocks knows results obtained over long term are worth far more tax wise than short term - crazy analogy but same thing )
5. Von Miller & DeMarcus Ware, Denver Broncos; 2014-15: The duo averaged more than 10.5 sacks together over this two-year span, and won Super Bowl 50, a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers, to wrap up the 2015 season. Obviously these two were huge pieces of one of the best overall defenses in league history, so while they’re great players, the whole team success stands out.
4. Derrick Thomas & Neil Smith, Kansas City Chiefs; 1990: Thomas erupted with a career-best and NFL-leading 20 sacks that year, while Smith contributed 9.5 sacks — an average of almost 15 sacks between the two of them. These guys obviously belong on this list for this particular season, and many others to follow.
3. Harvey Martin & Randy White, Dallas Cowboys; 1977: Martin and White were co-MVPs of Super Bowl XXII. Martin had an unofficial 20 sacks in a 14-game season that year, while White reportedly had 12.5 sacks. A very deserving duo, though obviously quarterbacks weren’t nearly as protected then as they have been the past couple decades.
2. Reggie White & Clyde Simmons, Philadelphia Eagles; 1991: This duo averaged 14 sacks together that year, and both were First-Team All-Pro defensive ends. They belong, no question about it.
1. Deacon Jones and Merlin Olsen, Los Angeles Rams; 1967: Two standouts of the Rams’ “Fearsome Foursome,” Jones had an unofficial 26 sacks that year, while Olsen had 11. This Hall of Fame duo should stick, too.

To bad i am not 1 to make a comment and never reply again when others reply to mine, but the never ending loop which may seem trivial time wise to most is of utmost value to me
