I am also of the opinion the weapons are not that bad.  They have a legit franchise running back, two very good WRs and another people think will blossom with Richardson.  That really leaves the TE spot and depth guys.  Say they land bowers in the draft now the offense looks really scary.

Another top caliber WR is still sorely lacking.

My disagreement is with the way we're using resources. I think there are certain areas where the team needs to make significant improvements, and I would have liked to see the cap allocated to those areas. Backup/rotational NT/DT isn't one of those areas.

I get your frustration, but they weren't going to bring Bryan back, and Johnson has been "just a guy"

So maybe this signing will help us more than we think.

I do agree Ballard now needs to fill in the bigger, more obvious, holes

  3. Coming out of college NFL Network compared Davis to DeForest Buckner.

Alabama DT Raekwon Davis says the 49ers have been showing the most interest in him

    Here is your “space-eating DT”

Alabama’s defensive tackle Raekwon Davis told Pro Football Talk he’s been in contact with five teams the most and listed the San Francisco 49ers first. Coincidentally enough, the 6’6”, 311-pound lineman didn’t test well at the NFL Combine as he was average to below average across the board. NFL Network’s comparison for him? DeForest Buckner...

...Davis is a big-framed and versatile four-year Crimson Tide defensive lineman who has all of the physical tools to be a three-down starter, but his pass rush has yet to catch up to his run defense.

Davis projects best as a 3-technique at the next level and a plug-and-play two down starter for run defense. He has the versatility to anchor from the nose tackle position and also the frame and length to set the edge as a 5-tech, but his combination of traits fit best over a guard. His inconsistent motor and pass-rush limitations frustratingly offset his run defense, size, and prototypical body. If he can put it all together, he has massive potential...

I think Grover is much better. But I get your point...

The worst thing about this one is - in the perfect case scenario (if Grover is healthy), Davis probably gets about 0 snaps.

The Colts will rotate all their DLmen like they always do.

I'm sure Ballard and his staff did their homework and have big plans for Davis

    I don't like this honestly…

They also signed Denico Autry and Foley Fatukasi

...The Texans have also agreed to terms with defensive lineman Denico Autry, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, and defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi as they work to build a strong front seven ahead of the 2024 season.

it is true- he’s our only veteran blocking tight end. The others are raw and Granson is better utilized off the line, imo. I think the bowers talk is smoke and mirrors… One, that I don’t see him at 15, nor will we trade up for him over a receiver… and two, I think they really want to see what Woods (and the others) can do with #5… so hanging on to him isn’t such a bad idea to me. Although I agree he’s overpaid…

He is just fair at blocking, and makes like one catch per game

They like him.  I know fans don’t but they clearly do.  For the record I am not saying I am agreeing with them on liking him just answering why they are keeping him.

Right, which would mean, one of the others would have to get cut, and if they did draft a TE it would be two cuts.

Then Cox would be an unrestricted FA next year. Seems foolish to move forward with MAC to me

So if we don’t bring in a quarterback in FA it might mean we will ride with Sam for now and acquire Fields when the Bears make their decision.

They also could still go after Tannehill or Dobbs?

But personally, I would like us to draft another QB. and roll with AR, Sam and the rookie.

My pick would be  QB Joe Milton III

That's what I see and subtract 9 mill for rookies and another 4 million for reserves and we're down to around 23 mill left. Could jump up to 29 depending on whether or not Cox is retained for the 5.9 mill he's due. So we are not done and should improve the roster a bit before the April draft.

We have Granson, Ogletree, Woods and Mallory. A lot of talking heads are saying we should draft Bowers.

I just don't get why they are still hanging onto Cox and his $5 mil contract?
