It blows my mind how much of media and fans will push a narrative. For example, one media person said "Against the Rams, Ricardson was the best player on the field". hahaha Or called a "franchise QB" and "the next great Colts QB". Tell me this...based on what????  That he was drafted high? So where JaMarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, and Akili Smith. That he is an athletic monster? So were Tim Tebow and Trey Lance.  Or, is it because he was drafted high, he has physical traits, and we are told that he will be those things?

So I suggest those who drink the Kool-Aid refer to Justin Fields. Similar player with much more experience in college.  A good runner for a QB who is inaccurate as a passer. But every year we hear "Oh, but he is progressing". Compared to who?  Fields got sacked 1 time out of every 9 passes.  Ok, they blame poor offense line.  But when Tyson Baggert, a college free agent who had to play as a rookie, started games, he was sacked 1 time out of every 29 passes.  So did the line suddenly get better?  Yet, there are STILL media people pushing that Fields has this great potention.  Come on, after three seasons, I think we know what he is.  An inaccurate, indecisive QB who can run. And new to the world. QBs are supposed to be PASSERS first.

Anthony Richardson seems like a good, hardworking guy. But I have little doubt he will be a bust as an accurate, decisive NFL QB.  He will run and that will make highlight films. He will have an ocassional nice pass or game. But overall, he will be a bust.

That is why I am praying the Colts resign Gardner Minshew.  Because he is and will always be a better NFL QB than Richardson.  Mark my words.  If we lose Minshew. we better draft another QB prospect like Michael Pratt and just hope he can be a Brock Purdy type gem, because Anthony Richardson is our Trey Lance. I guarantee it.

.......however I don’t see Ballard doing this. He will do what he always does

Trade back for 5th round picks and sit on the available salary cap space he has for a rainy day...  :hissy:

I think it’s funny when he said he can’t let Stroud win again.   These two are going to be fun watching the next 5-10 years.

AR's ability to scramble, extend plays and run will make the running game and passing game even more effective.  The other teams will have to account for all of AR's abilities and not look to concentrate on the run game and make Minshew beat you, who can't scramble and extend enough.  AR won't have all the sacks and pressures....

Some of you guys are over reacting to Bradley.  The injuries and suspension of Rodger’s really decimated his unit. Blackmon got hurt.  Considering what he had to work with it’s shocking we weren’t giving up 40 points every game. I think you need to wait and see what happens when they fix this secondary.

it has been Bend but Break since he has been here......  his defensive philosophy doesn't work and the last several years proves it.  there will always be an excuse, but we need fresh thinking.  :hairout:

  5. Oh well,....  Maybe 2025 we will get a real Defensive Coordinator...  Just hope Gus doesn't cost Shane his job for misplaced belief and Loyalty....  AR will have to walk on water to cover for the Bend and Break Defense of Bradley's.

There are many picking Houston to win this game on Saturday in the media = CBS radio, NFL Network, ESPN, etc.. Colts are currently a 1-point favorite, so it is a tossup in a sense. I think most outside of Indiana still are not buying into Minshew winning a huge game of the magnitude and most are in awe of Stroud's play as a rookie.

Colts are now a 1 point underdog.....  they will likely end up a bigger dog when they really look at the Bradley defense....  his usual defense will be end of this season.

They are going to have to play a clean game.  Some of the errors that we have seen in the last few weeks (both in wins and losses) cannot happen.

Bradley has to be willing to do things that don't necessarily vibe with his core beliefs and change up coverage and blitzes.  I can tell you right now, if they play that soft (5+ yrds off) zone, with no extra rusher Stroud will tear that apart.  O'Connell set a career high in passing yards today and I will venture to say 80% of his yards came when the Colts were in zone.  Heineke also killed us last week when we played a large part of the game that way.  With the way this season has turned out, Stroud is probably going to be the best QB we have faced and he is a completely different player than he was in week 2.  That being said, he is still a rookie and they have to try and confuse him, speed him up and not allow him to get comfortable or in a rhythm.

I don't think we can win this game without forcing a turnover or two, winning the turnover battle.   We have gone two straight games without a turnover and hopefully that ends next week.

Offensively, they need to continue to lean on the run game and continue to mix up how they are running and who they are using.  I think Trey Sermon has shown enough in both the Steelers game and today that he warrants getting closer to 1/4th to 1/3rd of the total rushing attempts.

If Steichen has any wrinkles (such as splitting JT wide) which we have not seen in a few weeks, now is the time to break them out.

Bradley is a big reason we’re not leading the division now. That 3 game skid giving up 34, 39 and 38 to Jags, Browns and Saints cost us long term. We played well enough offensively in at least the 2 home games vs Browns and Saints, good enough to win, IMO

If Bradley plays the same defensive philosophy, Houston will kill this team, his Bend and then Break defense is terrible....

It’s on the players really.  The secondary is young and learning on the fly.  The scheme works throughout the league.  Our guys are still learning how to execute and to read and react correctly.

We don’t need a new direction.  We just need better execution and an upgrade at a few positions.  Playing rookies and inexperienced players results in a big learning curve.

and What is Bradley's excuse for the past years when his defense was sad....  we have some superior players, enough that if  schemed other than Bend but Don't Break , we would be better.

Well, looking at all the other 7-6 teams, I think the Colts have the easiest schedule. Probably goes done to the final weel of regular season. Hopefully we get Taylor back.

There is no such thing as easy anything with the Colts.......  :wall:  That being said, w/o our QB we are having a solid season and better than expected.  AR is already much more of a threat that helps out the team, much more than Stache.

Gus is playing the cards he was dealt.  He's down Rodgers, Flowers, and Brents  at CB.  He was without Grove for 6 weeks.  Leonard was absolutely ineffective and liability on defense. Speed being out last game didn't help at all.  Other than the Saints game where he had Brown out there I don't have much to complain about with Gus.  There are times where I think he should have blitzed more this season, but to think leaving Brown and Baker on an island with Chase and Higgins was the way to go is wrong to me.  The front four didn't get to the QB.  That was supposed to be an advantage for the Colts vs the Bengals.

Bradley has played Bend But Don't Break every year.  Problem is they constantly BREAK.

and with the problems you mention with the DB's, you can't let them just sit out there and expect them to cover with no pressure or games to blitz or get consistent pressure.  Colts have needed a new defensive direction for years.

If Lawrence misses a couple weeks. The Jags could lose 2 games like if Jags lose to browns next week with a backup and lose against Ravens. While we beat the Bengals and Steelers. We could take a 1 game lead on Jags.

it’s a lot of ifs but this Lawrence injury could change who wins the South.

I doubt the Jags lose to the Browns,  they have a backup QB too.  The Colts need to worry about the Bengals, if the OL and especially Minshew don't play a lot better, the Colts will get beat by the Bengals.  Bengals have a good defense and Browning looked better than our QB lately.  Colts can't be a turn over machine and they have to get TD's in not FG....  Grover back will help the D, but they aren't the source of the problem!

  13. I also can't imagine where we would be if AR hadn't gotten hurt.  when teams have to account or spy on AR and his ability to run and get the ball downfield, i think we we win two or more additional games.  Stache has done well enough, but I think AR would have been able to eliminate at least 2 of the losses.....  Fun to watch and a bright future.

I’m perfectly fine with him trying to avoid contact. I’d rather have to punt than have the starting QB knocked out fighting for an extra 6 inches.

Maybe it is time to put in a few packages for Ehrlinger...  Minshew can not move, where Sam can... especially in the redzone.  we have to stop settling for FG

Same! I think he would receive a good welcome back, and we could finally put the pain to rest. Maybe even break our curse.

If there is any curse, he brought it on.... the Colts are still paying for his blatant disregard for the team.  the last minute move has killed this team.  he had plenty of time before the season to say he was done.  instead he pulled one of the most Unprofessional moves seen...  there is no honor in Luck

    Good:

    -Kenny Moore…that’s the quote

    -No Minshew turnovers

-He’s got work to do in coverage, but Jones as a physical corner is playing great. Like Brent’s, he lays the wood as a tackler and I love him getting in the receivers face after plays.

-Odeyingbo has turned into a solid depth pass rusher

    Bad:

-2nd half offense was awful. Won’t beat every team taking your foot off the gas like that

-Are you guys with me on the Pittman train yet? We saw that Downs has been carrying this receiver core. Even with him out Pittman couldn’t break out

-Leonard: He had 10 tackles but no splash plays again. Almost every LB we play looks as good or better than him.

-Safety play was again awful, but today their lack of speed to close showed.

-Bradley needs to go. Playing in a soft zone all game to not give up the big play, only to consistently get beat deep is concerning. 2nd game in a row this has happened and he’s lucky Kenny bailed us out twice.

Takeaway: Ugly win that the defense carried us to by scoring two touchdowns. Receivers and speed in the 2nd and 3rd levels of the defense are still big concerns going forward. This team needs a healthy Josh Downs asap. Bradley continues to be a let down.

13 - 13 tie, without the defense and Kenny Moore....  Offense was flat, 2.6yd per attempt for JT...  Line issue?
