  1. Lamar got a few snaps here and there, even threw four passes in the opener. But they had him in on option packages, and Eason is not an option QB. Lamar took over as the starter in November, when Flacco got hurt. I'm not that interested in rushing to see Eason. I'd like to have a better idea of what he can do before the season is over, especially if Rivers can't get it going pretty quickly here; we need to know what we have. But we don't need to rush it, especially when he's mostly a one dimensional player. Also, while Rivers has been underwhelming and frustrating with

  2. Until Ballard admits the QB position is the most important on any team we are going to be stuck in QB hell. If we are eliminated from the playoffs with a couple games to go Eason must play so we can see what we have before the draft.

  3. Probably one of the most exasperating things about a loss is the knee jerk reactions from fans and media: Bench Rivers! Get rid of Reich! Fire Ballard! Get a FA receiver! Anybody! etc, etc Everybody has a right to their opinion and to be fair, you have to look at what went wrong to be totally objective. Which brings me to Reich’s conference call, which I thought touched on accountability, bright spots and issues that have to be addressed. The end result for me, was the hope that the Colts can play/coach better and they have the confidence t

  4. Colts WR Pascal (undrafted. waived by redskins) Fountain (5th round pick) Patmon (6th round pick) Dulin (undrafted) Hilton (3rd round pick) Pittman and Campbell (2nd round picks but injured) I'm not defending Rivers, I hate watching him play, but I'm not sure it matters who we have at QB when we aren't willing to invest in a real threat at WR

  5. We would have to dress him but what if we gave him a few plays a game to see what he can do.

  6. That is confusing. I think almost all of us here feel like Reich has been failing at calling the plays. I think it is on Rivers and Reich.

  7. Let me sum up Eason's final season in college for you... "In three early games against Eastern Washington, Hawaii and Brigham Young, Eason threw for a combined 901 yards, 10 touchdowns, and one interception. In conference, he averaged just 7.1 yards per attempt and completed 59% of his passes with a paltry 12-to-7 TD:INT ratio." He isn't very mobile and he struggled when the pocket collapsed on him at Washington. He probably would have been better served playing one more year in college. He is nowhere near ready to start on a consistent basis in the NFL and rushing him

  11. I don't think the line has even been as bad as perceived. Go back the Jags game before Mack got hurt. He was dancing through, around, and on top of everyone. Mack was special with this line Nothing against Taylor. But when he came in he would get the obvious few yards and then bam! Stopped! He's still that way and there's nothing wrong with that. I think he's a damn good productive back. But he just doesn't make the run blocking look anywhere near as good as Mack did We miss Marlon a lot more than we thought we would

  12. I knew after watching the Jaguars game I knew I would much rather watch Rivers give us a chance to win than watch Brissett do whatever Nothing has changed

  13. I just hope when we are out of the race we get to see Eason instead of Brisset. He is not the answer we know that, thats why we got Rivers. Give the garbage time to Eason and see what he can do with it.

  14. I realize Eason is young and a rookie but can't he Dress himself?

  15. We said the same thing with Brissett last year. So all this does is reinforce the fact the roster is solid, we just need the right person driving this thing and soon. that said, I still don't want or even think we will see Eason short of an injury to both Rivers and Brissett. But we need a new, long term answer. But we also need some help at WR big time. TY is a ghost, literally. Although he did have his best game of the season against the Browns.

  16. The thing the coaching staff can't see that we as fans are right on top off is that Eason is ready to go. Sure, most of us have never seen him play a single snap, but that's why we're so perceptive in knowing that it's in his and the team's best interest to get him on the field ASAP. Okay, despite all his tools and physical potential, he wasn't that great in college - didn't make even honorable mention all-conference - but we have seen - with our own eyes - some media reports that coaches are pleased with his progress in practice, which means we know he should be ahead of Brissett now, even if

  17. I wasn't saying replace rivers now . If the colts get eliminated from the playoffs, then it makes zero sense to play rivers or Jacoby. They both will be gone next year jacoby wants to start .

  18. Say what you will about Rivers’ shortcomings and how it has impacted the O. IMO, Reich is the biggest culprit for the offensive problems. I personally believe that the play calling for the Colts has absolutely stunk. Especially in the red zone. But also because they are so predictable. I’m sure there are many who will disagree. But the main reason for the Colts’ offensive issues is the man calling the plays. He HAS to open things up. Pass the ball more. Be far less predictable. This “run the damn ball” mantra works if the pass game is clicking. So change things up to help the run game be

  19. Just a couple things on this. First, I would like to see our offense dictate to the defense, impose our will on them, and have teams come in with the understanding that they're going to get beat one way or the other. That means we need to be good enough on offense to consistently beat defenses. Right now, we're not. Second thing, Ballard spent back to back second rounders on WRs (good ones, IMO). They're both on ice right now, due to injuries that were impossible to predict. I submit that if Campbell and Pittman were both healthy, the offense would be better right now

  21. I can't believe we are only 5 games into the season, we have a winning record, and people are actually calling for a QB change. I never cease to be amazed at how quickly people jump on and off the bandwagon here. Has everyone forgotten that there were no OTA's or minicamps this offseason? Have we forgotten that there were no preseason games? I guess all of that stuff must be unimportant because we actually have people calling for a 4th round rookie to start over a proven veteran QB. I'll be the 1st to admit that Rivers play has been sketchy at times, but he is far and away the best option we h

  23. The following is a quote from Gary Davenport in Bleacher Report's Power Rankings heading into Week 6: I have to absolutely agree with Davenport on this topic. Phillip Rivers has really held the team back this season. The defense has done very well this season, the offensive line is still really good, we have a good group of running backs, and our coaching is still fine. It's on Rivers, as he has been just a shell of his former self this season. However, I must say that I hope Rivers is our QB until the end of the season. The Brissett experiment did not work at

  25. The Chargers once had #1 offense and #1 defense and still missed playoffs. Was that Rivers’ fault? His head coaches were Norv Turner, Mike McCoy and Anthony Lynn (run, run, pass if you have a lead). Chargers are a joke.

  26. YUP. I'll give the defense credit for the 2nd half. Also some of the stuff they allowed in the first half was borderline miraculous from Cleveland. It's a bad look when every drive results in points against you BUT there were some incredible catches by the Browns.

  27. Yep, Dalton would have been better, as would Foles. At least no worse, with some mobility. Not sure about the timeline though, if they were available when we decided to sign Rivers. BTW, Herbert was my favorite QB of the draft, and as a correction, LAC took him #6. We would have had to get to 5, and since MIA wasn't moving off of 5 because of Tua, Ballard never had a realistic chance to get Herbert.

  28. I'm trying to figure out what was most responsible for the safety. Could someone help me out ? 1) N. Hines FC at the 3 yard line. He's done this at least a couple times now , so you would think he would have been schooled ? 2) Rivers not taking an extra second and throwing the ball at the RB's feet. Yeah , the pressure was on but he's a vet and should have been able to pull off a legal throw away. 3) Reich play call. We were running the ball well , get it off your gol line. i trend to lean toward Hines' FC at the 3. That is just such a bad football decision.

  31. National media guys that don't watch the Colts every week, every year never have a clue about things like this. They just regurgitate the over reactions they hear everyone else saying It's similar to all the nonsense about Watson somehow being better off without Hopkins everyone was regurgitating in the off season

  32. I think Gary Davenport hasn’t actually been watching the Colts, or even paying attention to us. I suspect he knows little about the Colts 2020 and his comments demonstrate that fact. Almost everything he said is factually wrong. Surprised anyone would give the comment any credence....

  33. Ballard knows it, but what or rather who do you propose getting right now that's going to fix this issue? QBs only throw the ball, its TY's job to get open and to catch the dang ball, he's not been doing either of those consistently like he id just 2 years ago

  35. So we are going to lose with Rivers rather than seeing what we have in Eason. Makes sense. Just like keeping Vinny around last year until bringing in a rookie who made most of his FGs. If Herbet was on this team he would be on the bench.

  36. I question the coaching that the Colts currently have. Year after year they keep players that can’t seem to coach or can’t play effectively on game day. Zach Pascal and AD is an exception but not the rule. And how is L Clark still on the team? Even though the Colts are 3-2 now. After last week and looking at the schedule. It looks like this team is heading towards another long season. Here a thought, why don’t they have tryouts with the remaining players on this team including practice squad players for next year team. The Colts seems to have a lot of good practice players or training

  37. Ballard and his staff, as good as I think they are in most areas, appear to be very weak at evaluating the skill positions. Maybe Eason pans out. Maybe Campbell and Pittman get healthy and tear it up, but those are big maybes. I’m not thrilled with Reich, but look at the QB’s, WR’s, and TE’s Reich has had the past two seasons. Is it any wonder our offense is struggling.

  38. I see it as the opposite. We are 8th in the AFC after 5 weeks of an easy schedule to start the year. After the Bengals, it gets difficult. We have two games against the Titans, two against the Texans after they fired O'Brien, the Ravens, the Steelers, the Packers. IMO, the Bengals game this Sunday is a must win game. If we lose, the next ten games will probably eliminate us from the playoffs very easily and we'll finish something like 8-8. This team needs to step up. 3-2 is the worst-case scenario right now through five games. We should be 4-1 or 5-0.

  40. I think Frank’s biggest flaw is that he out thinks himself. I think he was thinking a run was too obvious so let’s do the opposite. Like I said before I am all for the Colts being more aggressive and running some more play action but that was not the time or place. Sometimes doing the obvious isn’t bad. You just have to trust your guys to out execute the other team but too many times I’ve seen frank get too cute trying to avoid doing the obvious and it almost always ends badly.

  41. He was a project player when drafted. A lot of the Colts reporters said the reason he made the roster was with his potential someone would have scooped him up if they put him on the PS but he wasn’t ready to play in the NFL yet.

  42. People act like this is still the 90s . QBs in college are much more prepared to start now then before . Dak was a 4th round pick thrown into dallas when romo got hurt. wilson a third round pick was let take over and did fine. Look at herbet going off for 4 touchdowns against the saints . kurt warner said he would take eason over herbert in the draft , he has more upside . So many people said herbet should not start this year and if taylor did not get hurt we would never see him play . Now he is going off on teams and getting good experience . So many older people are stuck in this

  43. You cant determine what has panned out in five weeks... Besides, who needs to see him before the draft? The fans are not the ones who make the decisions. Eason has to show the coaches, not us as fans.

  44. Remember Enron’s first season and how we all sat around and wondered why he didn’t get more usage than just in the red zone? It’s that. Again. They just don’t do anything to involve him outside the red zone. Now Burton is back, and they’re ok with forcing him into the gameplan over Mo, even though Mo showed more upside in his short shine this season than Burton has ever shown. It’s just like the RBs. We’ve got guys like Mack and Taylor, but we’re still gonna force them off the field so Hines and Wilkins can get to play. We can’t even put them both in the game at t

  47. I wonder who would win a race between Doyle and Rivers at this pint. MAC should be the starter clearly. Also, the lovefest that Reich and Co. have with Burton is puzzling. I know he is coming back from injury but he should be worked in slowly not force fed. Very silly

  48. It was a terrible decision, bottom line. This is why you don't fair catch a punt inside the ten, much less the five. The basic rule for a punt returner is to stand on the 10, and if the ball goes over your head, oh well, the pressure is on the kicking team to field it and pin you up against the goal line. There's zero reason to fair catch a punt inside the five, as a matter of fact it's a dumb thing to do. Then you call a Coryell pass play from inside your own end zone. What about a screen? (Precious few of those since the opener, by the way.) I don't blame Rivers for t
