  1. The way I see the QBs: 1. Love=Ballard’s type 2. Herbert=Reich’s type Id bet money that one of them are a Colt in April. Which one, I can’t say though. It’s funny too because each of the QB’s weaknesses are the others strengths. Love can be inaccurate at times while Herbert has excellent accuracy. Herbert struggles against pressure but Love is deadly off-script. What a decision on our FOR has on their hands.

  3. Right now, after all I have seen and read, I am a bit reluctant to take the risk on Jordan Love compared to a Justin Herbert at No.13. I am speaking objectively here. I am not in favor of trading up for Jordan Love or Herbert, I want to stand pat at No.13 and see how things fall for the Colts. If one of them is there, fine, but I wouldn't be giving up huge draft capital for it. I am back to my first offseason mock where I get Kinlaw at No.13 and move back into Round 1 in the late teens, to see if one of either Herbert or Love drop there and move back in with a trade th

  4. Starting Cap Space: $91,846,470 Colts Free Agents Unrestricted Free Agents DE Jabaal Sheard – 2 Years/$14M (First year fully guaranteed at $7M) Still a valuable piece defending the run. It's important to have veteran DL on the roster like Sheard and Houston to be mentors to players like Turay, Banogu, and Muhammed. WR Devin Funchess – 1 Year/$7M ($3M in incentives) We didn't really get to see Funchess at all this past season, but I think he's worth bringing back to see what he can do on the field. WR depth was a big issue this year a

  6. Some people have Epenesa top-5? Who? And have they been drug tested yet? LATE ADD: I just double checked.... For what it's worth, and maybe it's worth very little to you or someone else.... But Mel has Epenesa ranked 15th. Jeremiah has him ranked 28th Todd has him ranked 31st. I'm not saying he's not a talented kid..... but top-5? Or even top-10? I'm not even sure he's a scheme fit in our defense.....?

  11. Lol, Ballard has 3 more years before hes potentially on the hot seat. Irsay is a very patient man, and Ballard has done more than any GM since Polian. To think he could or would be on the hot seat before the next 2 seasons is obnoxious.

  12. From your lips to God's ears! I hope all four are gone by #13...and if you factor in that Chase Young, Andrew Thomas, Isaiah Simmons and perhaps both Lamb and Jeudy are off the board as well.... we stand a very good chance of landing Brown or Kinlaw. Does this mean I don't want us to address the QB position? No.....it simply means that we could land a "best in breed" D-lineman and address QB in Rounds 2 - 4.... assuming Ballard doesn't bring in a free agent.

  14. They are not leaks. They are reports from media. The reports are NOT coming from the Colts. Ballard has seen Love in person enough so that there’s no hiding his interest. But we still don’t know how much he likes Love? And we likely won’t know until the draft. If we DON’T trade up to take Love, that tells us something, doesn’t it? If Love is there when we pick and we don’t take him, that tells us something, doesn’t it? Just as taking Love at 13 tells us something. There’s a lot of misinformation out there this time of year. Be

  15. In my opinion there are five qbs in this draft that are an immediate upgrade to Brissett. Burrow, tua, Love, Herbert, and Fromm could all start from day one behind our line and throw more tds and win more games than Brissett. Hurts, Gordon, and Eason are my second tier guys who I feel need more development than the top five. Eason struggles alot when pressured. Gordon while he has a quick release I have to see more from him deep plus he is small. Hurts need to see more in the passing game

  17. I have ALWAYS thought that accuracy, instinct, and pocket awareness were the best traits I look for in a QB. Remember, although his arm wasn't exactly "weak", Peyton's arm strength probably wasn't in the upper echelon on the NFL. But Peyton was SO much smarter, he could anticipate, he could throw WR's open, and he was pretty accurate. And once he settled in, he stopped turning the ball over so much. I would take a QB like that over a guy who can just throw it through a wall but doesn't do those other things as well. If we can find a guy like that whether that be in the draft o

  19. I mean, I can't defend their rankings since they are... you know theirs, not mine. One is here - @Four2itus ranked him in the top 5. I still haven't gone through his film so I don't know if I will agree with him or not. I think reasonable people can disagree on highly ranked players depending on what they value most and what they project will improve. Examples(just going through The Draft Network's big boards): -Solak has him no. 9: https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2020-nfl-draft-big-board-rankings-december-solak -Sikkema has him no. 10 https://thedraftnetwork.com/a

  22. If the rumors are true the Lion's ownership said win next season or everyone is gone. If this is the case I can't see how a rookie QB is going to give them a better chance than Stafford. Also they would probably be better off spending their #3 pick on a "win now" piece versus a rookie QB who may have to sit a year, or even trading down a bit and possibly acquiring a couple immediate impact players. But who knows with all the misinformation this time of year.

  23. I went to the NFL Drafts for 6 years. The Philly Draft was my last one because it was impossible to get tickets to enter the Draft even though there were a bunch of empty seats. I went from the First pick on day 1 until the last pick. It was a lot of fun but the NFL sells a package to the days of the draft called NFL on location and they are like $2500 a day. I have been on the NFL Network and ESPN at the draft. I was also in the movie Draft Day. I am dressed up in the Blue Zoot Suit and Blue Beard. It will be really packed. Don't carry a bag

  24. I’ve been on the WR train for a while, since TY has been hurt the last two years and is over 30, no one else stepped up last year (with a heavy dose of the injury bug), and whatever QB we start in the future will need a #1 WR. However, I’m starting to identify Day 2 WRs that will help a lot, and this (Philly-style) O doesn’t require an alpha 1-on-1 dominator. So, Ballard likes to build from the lines first - there are still some definite chinks there. Castonzo, even if he does return as I suspect he will, is a short-timer. And CB spent some energy last year searching for a 2nd N

  27. Justin Herbert would be a perfect fit in Reich offense. Looked crisp and decisive in his delivery. Very polished. There is no question he is ready for the next level. He has everything you would want in a franchise QB.

  29. For anyone that is curious, Anthony Gordon looked great on opening drive of 3rd Quarter. Processed, quick release. Went right done for TD.

  30. I think you’re going to be correct. As much as we want the next franchise QB, Ballard is going to take the BPA on HIS draft board. And I suspect he has at least one DT rated higher than the 3rd or 4th QB that will be available at 13. (Burrow and Tua will be gone)

  31. I have read on more than one site that Funchess is being linked to many teams as a player those teams would target in FA. I hope Ballard can resign him but without Luck I would expect him to sign with a contender. We were a contender when we signed him. That's all changed. I think it will take one heck of a sell job by Ballard to get him or any FA worth their salt to sign with us not to mention the money it would take for the top guys. Huge problem with our QB situation so up in the air.

  34. Finally got to watch some game film from yesterday. I won't add to the QB discussion. That seems to be just about all anyone is talking about. What I saw was that my guy, Calvin Throckmorton, who I was following all year, and hoping could be something, wound up having a TERRIBLE game. Especially against speed rushers. The commentators even said that he's gonna have to move inside. Well, ththththhhh....

  35. If this is true then I am feeling more confident we will be making a move for a QB. It appears they really did their scouting on Love and most likely all of the other QB prospects during the year. I would bet they already have the rookie QB's ranked and know who would be their 1st choice. The combine would only validate their choice. Now they need to address the choices in FA and the trade route. Right now I think those paths are more fluid and not as clear. But those paths are still open. The weeks following the SB will bring more clarity on the FA front and I think GM's will start ma

  36. Gordon hit on some shorter throws. Nothing he did answers the questions about his arm strength. However he does get the ball out quick and throws with anticipation. He had a nice TD on his back foot with a fade to the corner of the endzone. Love and Herbert looked in control. Loves two long passes were on the WR. They were beautiful throws. One was like 50 yards on his back foot and was just effortless while the pocket collapsed. He had a lot of hand offs to the RB. He had a couple nice shorter throws in the fourth. So no I don’t think Gordon did anything that made it

  37. Yes I do realize this. Ballard is t on the hot seat. I said if they aren’t sniffing the playoffs in 2yrs there will be a rumbling for change. NFL work is a job. People are handed a tough job all the time and have things happen that aren’t their fault. It doesn’t change the fact that leadership will always be responsible regardless of most circumstances. It’s not fair but that happens a lot in anyone’s career. Either he responds effectively and all is good or in two years it still looks the same. Time will tell. I think he is qualified for the job.

  38. It could have nothing to do with his medicals. Maybe teams are impressed enough with Love or Herbert that they just decide it’s to big of a risk. I don’t think he has to be able to play in 2020. Miami has indicated they are bringing Fitzpatrick back. The biggest thing for me with TUA is what are the chances arthritis grows in that hip and cuts his career really short. Also he has had so many injuries which usually carries over to the pros. I hope for his sake and the colts sake he gets to work out before the draft and looks good.

  41. Maybe. But they don’t have an average QB.

  42. On the halftime show they did also discuss Hurts. The first point was he had zero time to throw. They said he continues to impress with his demeanor. He gets no time, gets hit and immediately gets up to encourage his time. Head stays up in the sideline. Love looks the part of the big arm. Will be interesting in the 4th quarter. Excited to see Gordon in the 3rd. Also, Herbert is easily the most polished of everyone. 2nd best QB in draft in my opinion.

  43. When a website like WalterFootball learns from "league sources" rather than from "team sources" that the team "is expected" to make a run because "they have a ton of salary cap space", it cannot be taken as evidence that the team really is interested in the player at all. Far too often, especially at this time of year, that kind of reporting from league sources being misinterpreted as actual team interest is rampant. I'll wait until someone reports that "according to team sources", they are interested.

  44. To some degree that's fair, but IMO a lot of it had to do with weird drafts that made it really hard to draft anyone but the players we drafted. For example, in the Hooker draft there was a leaked photo that suggested the Colts had him ranked no. 4 on their board(I had him no. 3 on mine). How do you pass on him at 15 when the Eagles got the pass-rusher right before us. And Hooker was actually playing great football before he tore his ACL, and has been solid to good after he returned. In the Nelson draft we had linebackers and safeties drafted around that pick. I guess the solution would have b

  45. What i am wondering is how you know so much about it that we can't find a better QB in round 2 that could hand the ball off as well as Jacoby and also be a better passer? The bar is not very high. Of course we already have one on the roster, that is a good thing i believe.
    1 point
  46. Completely on board with the 1st round pick being either a DT or OT. The trenches are so important to Ballard and this team. We can get a QB in round 2 or 3 with someone like Jacob Eason or possibly Love if he slips to the 34th pick or late round 1. If Castonzo stays, OT isn't as dire a need, but we still need a future LT since Anthony is already talking retirement.
