  1. The grass is always greener on the other side, folks. Philip may not be perfect, he may make a few decisions that may cost a game or two over the season but he is still the best option for the Colts, that will get better with time. His history of picking up steam in November and December will continue and he will have us fighting with TN for the division contender title. Even Brian Hoyer looked good in relief, so folks wanted to anoint Andy Dalton after a brief cameo. Once they made Cam Newton a passer, his inaccuracy loomed large. There is a reason why Peyton, who coul

  2. Sure is a lot of talking down on a guy who is averaging 4.1ypc, against said stacked boxes. While catching 16/17 pass attempts his way. People must forget Mack averaging 3.8ypc his rookie season. Tomlinson averaged 3.6ypc his rookie year, 4.3ypc for career. Emmitt Smith 3.9ypc rookie season, 4.2ypc for his career Walter Payton 3.5ypc rookie season Curtis Martin 4.0ypc rookie year, 4.0ypc for career Jerome Bettis 3.9ypc for his career Marshall Faulk 4.1ypc rookie year, 4.3ypc for career Half of the top 12 rushers of all time ab

  6. I would travel to the ‘No’ shop and buy the biggest ‘No’ I could. I would then take it to the best word enlarger in the world and make it as big as possible. Then I would use a special app to make it look even bigger and then post it on here. But I can’t be bothered.

  9. I think if Andrew Luck was still on this team, this wouldn't even be a question and he would be viewed as the best GM in football.

  12. This is true, but Ballard took the job expecting that the QB situation wasn't a factor -- just like everyone else. In fact, having Luck was considered the biggest selling point for the Colts GM job. Fast forward to September 2019, and the team that Ballard was building around Luck suddenly didn't have Luck anymore. Out of four offseasons, only this last one was undertaken with the understanding that we did not have a franchise QB. It's a major adjustment, and it came out of nowhere. We'll see how this year winds up, but so far, Ballard has been thrown some serious curv

  13. Given that he had to rebuild this roster that he inherited and then had the Luck departure to deal with, I believe he's done a very good job. Our defense has improved and we have a top notch OL that required a lot of high draft picks to assemble. He now will be faced with the decisions on upcoming expiring contracts with some of our top players, so we'll see how that goes. You can't anticipate injuries, so it's hard to evaluate some of his picks, especially at WR. You can't fix everything in the time Ballard has been here, but he's fixed a lot of things IMO

  14. Great GM for roster depth and complete team. However, high value positions like WR and pass rusher, definitely lacking in top notch talent drafted or seeing results on the field, it is like we have been waiting for a while for the next WR behind TY to produce. He cannot continue to draft like he has Andrew Luck anymore, hoping the QB will elevate those positions, even if we sign vet QBs in their home stretch. The QB, WR and pass rusher positions cover up roster depth blemishes faster than most positions. No wonder Polian was successful for so long with the draft and inferior depth

  16. Click here for this week’s Colts Mailbag! The bye week has provided plenty of opportunities to take a look back at the first six weeks of the season. Lots of in-depth questions this time around on Quenton Nelson pulling in the run game, three-tight end sets, slant route usage, offensive pace and more. Thanks again for the thoughtful submissions, and try to enjoy your Sunday without Colts football.

  17. Good news for Taylor. I have to wonder whether it's Mack's high character or if it's him praying the Colts will value him enough to re-sign him next year. Probably quite a bit of both. Either way, glad he's putting in the effort for the team.

  18. Need a significant move just to be a 500 team .Frank is out coached nearly every other week his Defense and Oline is middle road his WR group has no number one who can dominate a game our vaunted Oline has been * poor .I am very disappointed in the lack of urgency with this owner and GM .I see this colts team as little more than a tease and not a great one at that .This team should be in alllllll in mode but nope they just sleep walk through the trade deadline so far .You guys will murder me for this post but I’m sick of this I’m out until I hear this team actually cares about making a run .La

  19. Kurt Warner had more accomplishments than Cam Newton has, in a less passer-friendly era, including two league MVPs, three SB appearances, a SB win and a SB MVP. And he had two incredible peaks, in which he elevated his team to dramatic heights. He had a decidedly better career than Newton. And it took him three years to get voted in. Since then, the bar for being a HOFer at QB is moving much higher, as all time greats become eligible -- Brady, Brees, Manning. Even Eli is a controversial case, and he has twice as many yards as Cam, twice as many TDs, and two SB MVPs. Cam

  25. These threads are always interesting. Reich is obviously a good dude...but as a HC...I am lukewarm. He has shown at times that he can scheme very well. Just look at how wide open Ebron was all of the time in 2018...OR how JB had open first reads early last year (especially against ATL and HOU). But it's pretty inconsistent. Granted...he hasn't had Luck for the past 1.5 seasons...but one of Reich's biggest selling points was that he was the OC of a team that plugged in a backup QB and steamrolled through the playoffs and won a SB. I definitely haven't seen that level of

  28. Having eavesdropped into your conversation with NCF, I agree with you, but I think you stated it a bit dramatically by saying that he said the QB position is not the most important. Let me try to clean that up. I think at that presser, he was laying out a philosophy that said that he is going to build the team differently than maybe what we've had the past 20 years, where the team was built around the skills of one guy PM then Luck. He was explaining to the fans the difference between what the fans would see going forward and what they have seen in the past. I strongl

  29. I listen to Philadelphia sports talk and see what a mess the Eagles are: Over the cap Bringing in FAs that aren’t working out Bad drafting I’m just glad we have Ballard. Unlike Grigson, Ballard gets feedback from others. The Colts rank 10th in passing YPG and 8th in Avg. yards per completion. I think the receivers have some potential and are not as bad as some might think. When Ballard came in, he said it was going to take some time, he was going to build from inside out. This team is a work in progress but it is headed in the rig

  30. Agree. With or without Luck...the WR moves have been bad. Aiken, Grant, Funchess, Cain, Fountain, Campbell and Pittman. I am not going to write off Campbell and certainly not Pittman...but that is a very meh group...and in 4 offseasons...it is also a concerning trend. Whether it's a deprioritization or just bad talent evaluation (that has led to passing on very good WRs to draft lesser WRs/players)...objectively...it needs to get (much) better. The DE position has been similar...in regards to the draft. Fortunately, Ballard was shrewd in signing both Sheard and Houston. But 3 2nd

  31. He's drafted well for the lower value positions in the middle of the field but has not added much young talent in the higher valued outside positions, both on offense and defense. Some seem to be good prospects, but it has yet to be consistently displayed on the field. I can't give credit for what I think might be good players if only they weren't injured.

  35. Kwity Paye is listed at 6'4" 272 and reportedly ran 6.37 3cone! If he does that at the combine it will be the second best time of all time. At ANY position! This includes all the small quick receivers, all the most agile cornerbacks, etc. At 272!!! Aidan Hutchinson is listed at 6'6" 269 too so... again... pretty good size for our scheme.
