  4. It’s really cool to see all of this behind the scenes stuff. Patmon and Pittman seem to have a very good relationship. Also noticed he hangs out with Eason which is a good thing to see. Eason needs to show he is developing a good locker room relationship with the guys.

  5. I don’t call guys undone by injuries busts. To me a bust is a player that shows that from a skill standpoint he doesn’t measure up. I think Hooker measures up skill-wise, but he has been undone by injuries. It’s a shame because he could’ve been really good. :(

  8. Good Game plan - both sides of the ball. Why did we not do the same thing vs Jax. Holy cow. Taylor - after a lackluster week 1, looked great with 100+. Would love to see his AVG increase and some break aways, but loved what I saw in his first start. Rivers - not big numbers, but very efficient and great bounce back game. The INT was not on him. Pittman - Not a ton of yards, but 4/6 and seemed to be gaining confidence. MAC - what a breakout game for him. Inherited the #1 TE role and put up 100+. Hands looked great doing it except for.... 9. Thanks again for all your participation in this week's Colts Mailbag, which you can find by clicking here. Lots of questions this week about the defensive side of the ball, particularly the coverage schemes being utilized by defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. I think you'll find there were attempts to make adjustments against the Jaguars, the execution and communication just wasn't all there. Definitely fixable moving forward. Also, I think there's a hang-up about how many times Philip Rivers threw the ball in Week 1. Granted it's only one game, but there were so many short passes that

  11. As you all know by now, I've been following this team just since Philip was signed a few months ago, and I have to say, this is as fun a team to watch and follow as any I can remember in a long, long time. And not just because of grandma above, but everything I've read, seen and heard has already brought me tons of smiles and laughs. Sure, coming off of wasting a decade and a half of my life on the "Keystone Bolts" plays a part in that, but still, there's a genuinely fun element to this team. Irsay, Ballard, Reich and the rest of them aren't kidding when they talk about making sure they bring

  12. Just saw that PFF had them both on their offensive team of the week. Glowinski was best RG week 2 and Mo was best TE week 2. Mo actually was given the best offensive player overall. Nice to see those 2 get some love.

Here's what I found about Leonard: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2019/02/26/inside-life-indianapolis-colts-nfl-scout-darius-leonard-marlon-mack-nfl-draft/2926527002/ Here's what I found about Blackmon: https://www.colts.com/news/julian-blackmon-chris-mcgaha-matt-terpening-2020-scouts-eye Two different scouts, but I think your view that they both fit what Ballard likes is the key. McGaha scouted Blackmon and said they saw how athletic/versatile he was. Matt Terpening said: "So, Julian is really unique. So as a junior last year, he actua

  18. He played 34 snaps in his first game action. He looked very good, but not ready to label him the real deal yet. He's a rookie and has to get a few games under his belt before I can get a feel for his play. He's off to a very good start, but let's see if he can continue that.

  24. Chad Kelly comes in after a late Covid outbreak to all the O coaches and QBs to lead the Colts to a 49-0 win in swag fashion. Ballard is so impressed, he promotes Chad to a dual HC/QB1 position. Tired of the Charmin soft zone coverage, Kelly also plays DB and has 5 INTs and 2 forced fumbles, scoring on 2 of the INTs. Irsay is so blown away, he changes the team name to the Indy Swags and offers Kelly the GM job too.

  25. Anyone catch the Chargers and KC? Crazy story - Tyrod Taylor started experiencing chest pains right after the coin toss. He was up until then expected to play. So they sent in Justin Herbert with no warning. Granted it's only one game but Herbert looks legit. I won't say he took over the game or anything but he for the most part made good decisions and some accurate throws. Only made one big mistake when he took a big sack instead of getting rid of the ball. Chargers ran the ball a lot though. Plus while Herbert obviously didn't have the advantage of

  27. How in ANY way is Pittman's YT channel a "character concern" or not "Colt-like"? Him and his girlfriend have had their YouTube channel for years now and I don't see any reason why they shouldn't keep doing it. It was known when we drafted him that he had the YouTube channel and it wasn't a problem then. There's no doubt that Ballard is ok with it, because he wouldn't still be doing it if the organization took issue with it. Also, have you even watched any of his videos?

  28. Odds are it’s not the same scout. Typically, scouts get regions or areas. Leonard was likely found by a scout in the South, or Atlantic region. Blackmon likely found by a scout in the West, or Mountain region. I do remember Ballard and an area scout saying Utah had a number of high quality defensive backs, and we were at Utah to look at other players. And the Utah coaches kept pushing our scout to look at Julian. He grew on us. The more we looked, the more we liked.

  31. I think the entire world underestimated the Jags. And looking back at it, I honestly don't know why. Their offense looks good on paper and people viewed them as the worst in the league for some reason. Minshew is a very effective passer and won Rookie of the Week several times before the front office foolishly benched him to save face for an ugly Foles contract. Their receivers are great with solid depth and a talented rookie. The running game was ineffective with an underwhelming Fournette so its not a huge surprise that they got better with him out of the picture and their

  32. I wouldn't try to connect too many dots. MN OL is not good. We played more man today, giving the DL more time to get home. It looked like we stunted/blitzed a bit more too. As far as the TN/Jax game, TN hasn't looked that great. They've needed late game heroics and FGs to win both games. Is Jax as bad as we thought, probably not. But you shouldn't be all that surprised that Minshew passed for 300 against them. Their pass D wasn't good last year, and it's not good this year. Didn't watch the game, but I'd bet they played a lot soft zone like we did, and Minshew simply ca

  33. Both teams are looking to bounce back and avoid going 0-2. The Colts will play without their dynamic running back Marlon Mack who will miss the year with injury. How do the Colts replace his production? On defense, the Colts will have to play better to win this one. Can Xavier Rhodes make his former team pay for cutting him. We will see. Did you know? The Colts have never lost to the Vikings at home. How to watch/listen to Colts games Good luck! Enjoy the game and your football Sunday.

  35. So, are any forum members going to be at Lucas tomorrow?? I saw an article in the Star about a lady who hasn't missed a home game since the Colts came to Indy. She was 14 the year they moved and hasn't missed a game since. Even she didn't get in on the 2500 STH's who were allowed to attend tomorrow. Irsay decided she would be his guest tomorrow. Very cool.

  36. I don't think they can generate much noise. I've seen people complaining about the canned crowd noise too......not being loud enough. I think we're giving up real crowd noise this year. Honestly, I'm just so glad to have football. Gives us a reason to make chili and have friends over to watch the game (on our screen porch). It is a welcome bit of normal and a distraction from the pandemic. I really really just hope the whole season gets played

  37. Julian Blackmon is a serious dude. For a rookie to step in with that much self confidence and key plays is a huge find for the Colts secondary. Having Blackmon and Willis in the secondary is going to be a huge upgrade from the past. He tackles really well and his closing speed is faster than most because of his instinct. Willis's interception was due to Blackmon closing speed and stepping in front of the WR to intercept the ball but resulted in a tip for Willis to intercept. There was a few 3rd down plays which Blackmon dislodged the ball due his timely hit. For a first start is quite impress

  39. He inherited a team with a franchise level QB, and in Ballard's three seasons as GM prior to 2020, that QB played 16 games. Not to mention the other nonsense and drama that's happened. Ballard has been dealt a rough hand to start his tenure as GM. That said, the winning has to start this year. He's completely revamped the roster, he's chosen and invested in a QB (still a bridge, but Rivers was brought in to help elevate the offense, so Ballard and Reich will be judged on how this move plays out), and he's selected a coaching staff. The drama is done. Now it's time for results on th

  45. Until we see this team put it all together...I don't feel safe predicting any type of stretch like that. This season has a lot of parity...more than I recall seeing in recent years. Of those teams you listed...only the NYJ appear to be a dumpster fire. CIN maybe...but they are still figuring things out with Burrow. I think CHI and DET are decent opponents...and CLE has talent. Going to have to take it one game at a time.
