Not a good sign (game #3)

All pre season and the first 2 games, we all are looking for signs, signs of where this team is at and where they are going. This is the 1 game that looking at the schedule I was confident it was a game the Colts could/should win. The Jags were the consensus worst team in the league and have not played well the first 2 games and it was a home game, that all adds up to a win for the Colts or that's why they play the games, seems like each year, there is more and more parity in the league, teams who look bad, the next week beat a team that has been on a roll, it's such a fine line, between winning and losing, the Saints are loaded and are 0-3, last year the Eagles were loaded and didn't even make the playoffs.

The running game has yet to look even adequate, the only drive it was remotely successful was towards the end of the game, the passing game has been good, for the most part, Luck continues to play like a veteran. Reggie has played great all 3 games, last week Avery had a great game and this week Hilton played great (4-113-TD). I was expecting big years from both of the rookie tight ends and they really haven't been used too much, Fleener was in game #1, but the last 2 games they haven't been

The defense was shreaded by Jones-Drew, the Jags rushed for 185 yds and just under a 6.0 avg, Mathis had another sack and continues to impress and Freeman led the way again with 9 tackles.

Lefeged has really been great on coverage all 3 games, wasn't the best game for the kickers, who both excelled , last week. Saw a little spark from Vaughn on the kickoff returns

Next week is the bye week and hopefully in 2 weeks, most of the players who have been missing, will be back. Next up the Packers. The theme has been run the ball and stop the run, it looks as though there is a lot of work to be done. The reason I felt this team would struggle this year wasn't exactly lack of talent, although there is a lack of depth, it was due to new-everything....G.M, coaches, schemes, but mostly new players and young players, with that line being so fine, between winning and losing, that's alot to overcome, not beating a very bad team at home, was not a good sign, I mentioned by game #5, it would be pretty clear where this team was at, there are 2 more games to go.................

note: Collie finally made it back (feel good story) caught a ball and was hurt-again,don't know if it is serious........

I am glad I could not sleep, and decided to check out the blog section!!

I feel a super point is made here by Colts7 by his use of the word 'parity.' Look at the games yesterday. Minnesota over SF? Tenn. drops 44 points on the Lions....Big Ben falls hard in Oakland. NE is 1-2 (last time I checked so are the Colts) and the Saints are 0-3.

I was not happy initially we had such an early bye. With injuries mounting to what is a rebuilding/retooling (whatever one calls it :)) team, it is much needed in hopes that Angerer, Reitz, and Freeney can get back (among others) Without continuity, this team simply cannot gel.

Another nice analysis here by Colts7.

That's the only explanation I can come up with, the Vikings beating the 49ers, the Bears-up, down, up, as I mentioned the Saints 0-3, partially due to their coach not being with the team, which enforces what I said about changes, the Saints are loaded with talent and without their coach, are struggling, you can have a great team,on paper and still come up short, with wholesale changes, it's almost impossible to compete for 16 games.

don't think a week 4 bye week is quite ideal, but you have to deal with the hand your dealt, the team should get better as the year goes on, but also injuries will take their toll and expose the lack of depth and ........maybe the biggest key, young players make mistakes, take it to the bank

A ton of fans forget we started the initial training camp with I believe 53 players with an R or a 1next to their experience. Great point!

Good points Brent11 and Colts7. Like the saying, "Only one letter separates a HERO and a ZERO". Got to eliminate the mistakes and forever eliminate the "Z" and keep the "H"!
