March Finally Here!

Sure no football! But can't wait for the spring to get here. As really winter has been beyond our expectations. Hope that it will be one warm spring. As really can't wait for not too hot nor cold weather to come! But spring on the bad side of me, is that my sinuses really get to me!

A look at the roster (summary)

Needless to say there are alot of decisions, as always, to be made. Who will be brought back and who won't. There are alot of free agents, guys were injured, guys who are not getting any younger, etc. The 2 biggest areas of need are the 2 lines and depth, depending on who is brought back, there is suppossed to be a lot of cap money available for free agents, so those areas will be addresed that way, the draft won't add as many players as usual, with the coveted #1 pick traded away and only 5 tota

Super Bowl Year?

With the Colts having another 11-5 year and making it to the playoffs, we are getting better each of these past two years. We still have a lot of work to do and I still see us as a young team. Andrew Luck is a great quarterback and has won us many games in his young career. I think he will keep developing into the franchise quarterback that we want him to be. We still have some pieces that we need to put in place. We need to still get better protection for Luck from our offensive line. He just d

A look at the roster (DB/special teams)

DB: Going into the year, this group was viewed as maybe one of the better units in the league...did not materialize. Davis is a shut down-pro bowl caliber player,on paper, but that doesn't always seem to show up, each week, Toler is an above average CB, who missed alot of games, I really like Butler and Vaughn and Gordy add quality depth. Bethea had another very good season, Landry was supposed to be a difference maker, but I didn't see much of that, other than a few games, he really wasn't much

A look at the roster ( D-line,LB)

DL: There is alot of body's, but nobody that stands out. I thought Chapman and at some point Hughes were going to push for more playing time in the middle, but they were not able to outplay journeymen Franklin. On the outside, Redding had his moments and is one of the team leaders, Moala made some plays, Jean-Francois, at times, the game is won or lost in the trenches and our trenches, both, need some bigtime upgrades, the Colts seem to be high on late comer Pendleton. Moala,Franklin and Mathews

Colts sign CFL's star linebacker

Colts sign CFL's 2011 #1 overall pick Henoc Muamba and .....He is a versatile linbacker that has good character on and off the field and has received 2013 good guy award and Muamba perfect 10 program for underprivileged kids also a (ALL STAR). Nick named AO for (All Over) and hopefully is a great addition to the defense and can have same success as Jerrell Freeman (former CFL)....I like this signing!!!! Go Colts

Cap Space

Analysts say...........Letting go of Toler and Satele frees up nearly 9 million in cap space (approx 34 mill available before cuts).....Satele ranked as the 10th highest paid center (terrible for the money) and Toler who is decent is a overpaid average DB with injury history that can be easily replaced with the free agents available this year. They will be let go, who will replace them????? Lets go GRIGS!

No Football But Olympics!

No football as football has ended. But now it is Sochi Games. As ready as love the Winter Games. Fun and doing it hard in the snow! And in the cold! Hope it goes off without a hitch. Despite the fact of a lot going on there.

A look at the roster ( WR- O-line)

WR: the biggest concern will be at what level will Reggie return, for various reasons, I think he will be back- near where he left off, but age is catching up at 36, he is not trending upward. Hilton has established himself as one the leagues best young WR's and like many of the young players, will continue to get better. Whalen, Brazill and Rogers all showed promise, with the first 2 having some exceptional games, Rogers probably has the highest upside of the trio. Heyward-Bey is a free agent a

Hughes Sheppard trade/free agency

I like a lot of moves Grigs has made but I had a feeling that this one would be up in the air.....Sheppard was sub par and Hughes had 10 sacks 2 forced fumbles and 46 tackles. Next year our d line could use some help and we find ourselves looking free agency/draft and we had that guy earlier this season. I hope we make the right moves this off season and look forward to next year. Orakpo everybody wants but will be to costly for us because we have a to many holes to fill......I would be more

Sport's Illustrated ABC's

I haven't written a blog for a long time and this is one that may only be appreciated by those with young children or grandchildren; but I wanted to share the story of the smile my grandson, Luke, put on my face today. He was told that he could pick out some books at the library and one of the books he choose was "Sport's Illustrated Kid's Football ABC's". Good job, Luke! When he saw a picture of Andrew Luck wearing his Colt's uniform; he said, "Colts". That really made me smile because I have

A look at the roster ( QB-RB-TE)

QB: Not much needs to be said here, Luck will continue to get better and is already one of the leagues best, not sure how long Hasselback will be around, but he is invaluable as the backup, providing leadership and experience, not sure what role Harnish has, other than watching, he is a young QB with some potential, he needs to move on somewhere he has a chance to play * not a need area RB: very interesting group, with 4 proven quality players. They will not all be back next year, Bradshaw is a

The right team.

Well it took JohnElway and the Broncos just TWO years to put the right team around Peyton Manning! Andrew Luck has all the tools and then some, question is Mr Irsay..Mr Grigson... How badly do you want it? My instant thought is, just any free agent to fill a need will not do..(eg. DHB) we need upper tier quality. Now so many needs remain and they probably all couldn't be filled in one or even two years but we certainly have to do better than last years free agency and draft

Polian come back home!

Ok, so just watched R. Grigson press conference and let me say, had to bite my lip a few times to keep from swearing listening to his comments from the Indy press core. I'm so tired of these talking heads who get paid the big bucks to entertain the press with extraordinary nonsense! He speaks about B Werner and saids , he needs to get stronger, that's a comment a college coach would make about an in coming freshmen not a first round draft pick, he says Werner had issue while at FSU durning the

Colts offseason needs

Another long season down the drain with a heartbreaking loss to the Patriots is just so demoralizing. Almost every year since the Peyton Manning era, the Colts have made the playoffs. The only times the Colts missed the playoffs were in 1998, 2001, and 2011. Besides these 3 seasons, the Colts have made the Super Bowl twice and only won 1 against the Bears in 2006. Aside from this 1 Super Bowl, it ALWAYS seem to some type of issue and excuse as to why they lost, rather than why they did not win a

Next seasons needs?

For me. Looking at our loss to the Patriots, I see some areas I find that could use an upgrade. I think the Colts should go after 3 players in particular. 1) Michael Johnson. 2) maybe Brandon spikes or Vincent Rey to help out the line backing core. 3) trade Trent Richardson and sign ben Tate and Ballard and Bradshaw. You know what a legit CB would be great maybe Tillman. Hie could cone cheap and be of good use in rotation. Tell me what you think fans. And remember be respectful. That is all I

Good, not good enough...yet

The further you go in the playoffs, the more important playing your A-game becomes and the more important turnovers become, with that said, that was not the A-game and the turnovers...can't happen. The ongoing digging a hole, shooting yourself in the foot and thinking , you can always come back, also doesn't usually work, deep in the playoffs. Was very impressed with the recievers and how they stepped up, the offense was good, the running game was a non-factor, hard to have a running game when y

Robert Mathis….The goal is New York

The lyrics of the Rolling Stones express the dilemma best, "I can't get no……satisfaction". Should we beat New England tonight, Robert Mathis reminds us that satisfaction remains at bay because the goal is (winning) in New York. In my teens, I learned the hard math of the Super Bowl equation there is only one with satisfaction and it happens only once a year. In my naive youth I believed that the 1967 Colts arriving at the last game of the season undefeated was destine for the Super Bowl (by god

Old Rivalry Renewed!

This Divisional round play off game is the start of a new era for the Colts. This is the first post Manning era playoff trip to New England and this is the start of new rivalry with an old foe. The media is not giving our beloved Colts a snowballs chance in El Paso against the Patriots. I'm loving the fact that we are going to New England this week-end because I want these modern Colts to be validated by beating who some will call one of the best ever in Tom Brady (jury still out on best ever).
