Free Agency Pick-Ups And Mock Draft

I'm not even going to attempt to predict who the Colts retain at this point. But they should consider these players...

Free Agent Pick-ups

Scott Wells (GB) Center

I know they just signed Jake Kirkpatrick, who was a rookie we cut last year, but if Saturday leaves, this is a huge requirement for Luck's existence.

Eric Winston (HOU) Offensive Tackle

I can't believe Houston released this guy. Colts would be smart to pick him up and solidify the line.

Israel Idonije (CHI) Defensive End

Or

Cory Redding (BAL) Defensive End

I'm hoping the Colts can at least bring Jamaal Anderson back. One of these guys would be a huge upgrade on the D-line.

Robert Meachem (NO) Wide Reciever

He is a great young receiver that could be a dependable targer for Luck.

2012 NFL Draft

I'm basing these picks off of a 7 round mock draft from Matt Miller who I think is a great scout who doesn't just regurgitate ESPN's rankings or Mock drafts. This also includes a 3rd Rd pick from the Chargers for a Freeney trade.

1st Round : Andrew Luck - Stanford - QB

As if it was going to be anyone else?

2nd Round : Mohamed Sanu - Rutgers - WR

Andrew is going to need a WR to develop with. Sanu is incredible.

3rd Round : Harrison Smith - Notre Dame - SS

Harrison Smith is an under rated Strong Safety. I think there are enough players out there getting 1st - 2nd rd hype to take him into the 3rd round.

3rd Round (from Chargers) : Jayron Hosley - Virginia Tech - CB

This is our trade for Dwight Freeney. Jayron Hosley is a ball hawk. Solidify the secondary with Smith, Bethea, Powers and Hosley.

4th Round : Ladarius Green - LA-Louisiana - TE

Yes, I know he is no Coby Fleener, but Ladarius Green is the next best thing. This is a smart grab even if Tamme is resigned.

5th Round : Ryan Broyles - Oklahoma - WR

Another offensive weapon for Luck. Assuming Garcon and Wayne are both gone..the WR corps could be solid with Sanu, Meachem, Collie, Broyles

6th Round : Josh Chapman - Alabama - NT

I like Drake Nevis, but I don't know that he has the size for this 3-4 defense. Colts grab a big D-lineman here.

7th Round : Levy Adcock - Oklahoma State - OG

More protection for our new starting QB in a great OG from Oklahoma State.

Good draft, but OL maybe too late

The speed of the safeties in this years draft is alarming (or lack there of)

I know we need one, but maybe a FA?

The thing I like the most about the Colts (up until this off season of course) was the lack of drama on the roster. Haynesworth and Pacman are just too much of a headache.

It looks like they might sign Cory Redding and Evan Mathis. That will help tremendously. I still don't need to change my draft after the Reggie Wayne signing. Still need depth at WR.

So since we traded our 6th round pick to the Eagles for OT Winston Justice and their 6th round pick....Chapman might be out. Maybe Derek Wolfe DE - Cincinnati ?
