Just out of curiosity would we have enough interest in doing another mock draft after the draft is done?  If interest was strong enough we might could do a full seven round mock draft?

i dont know if we could pull that off in a week?!

You commish it lol.  That's a tall order, though.  Literally would take one hour picks with nocurfew to even come close to finishing 4 rounds.  Either that or have multiple GMs doing a bevy of teams (i.e. you and nfl fan do 8 teams, me and csmopar do another 8 teams).

Dream job.  Knowing what I know now, I wish I had used my short stint as an IU football player to get in to player scouting.  Alas, I don't regret it either - you know, pesky little wife and kids that I can't seem to keep myself away from.

haha You can always use your legal background in sports.

Btw, as an IU alum, how do you like Ian Thomas? I saw some other Hoosiers on the list too. Any players you like? Thanks!

I would do it if I could have the Colts and Broncos. Up to everyone else here though. Tall order.

256 picks total. only 185 hours remaining before the start of the draft.  Even at an hour a pick, no curfew, I don't think we could pull that off

I watched film on Ian Thomas and Cobbs, but haven't seen film on Tegray Scales.  I didn't get to watch a ton of college this year because I was in a hospital from Mid-September to December, so what I've watched has been on draftbreakdown.com.

I really like Ian Thomas, I think he's an underrated sleeper in this year's draft and not enough people are talking about him.  I see a some David Njoku in him, though not quite as athletically gifted (though still very gifted).  He's got some developing he will need to go through, but there's no reason to think he couldn't come into his own by year 3 (year 2 if he stays healthy and advances rapidly).

I've come around on Simmie Cobbs, I didn't see him as the Day 2 talent as some saw him very early in the draft process, but I do think he can be a solid redzone target and a guy who can really move the chains in tight spots - but I think he needs a top tier QB to make that happens.  The catch radius on that guy is the best in this draft if you ask me.  If Aaron Rodgers throws him the ball, he will be very difficult to defends.

The Packers will be looking to draft WRs. They don't have much at the position.

lol if you just picked cool names no one would know the difference at this point.  Once we get to round 4, but especially round 5, no one knows what will happen to an even greater extent compared to Rounds 1-3

He's got the soft hands and extension and body control to take on the types of throws Rodgers utilizes down in the redzone - back shoulder throws, extending out of bounds on outs and the like.  That is absolute best case scenario in my eyes.  If Drew Brees were 31, the Saints would be the second best landing spot.  No one is more accurate with a football than Drew Brees in his prime - plus you get the added bonus of Purdue QB throwing to an IU WR.

Participating in the Mock draft is a good way to learn about players you are unfamiliar with. Check out the other threads in the scouting section for information about other players and draft resources.

Where do folks believe the guy with one hand will go? Would you like the Colts to take a chance on him (Shaq Griffin)?

late 4th. Colts have 2 4ths, i could see them taking a flyer on him, he's driven/hungry.

Shaquem Griffin looked great at the combine, however, he has the biggest bust potential of anyone in the draft. I think he will struggle when the action gets physical. I'd avoid him as a Colts fan, but I hope he succeeds in the NFL. Really enjoy his story.

One last question from me. Anyone besides me like DaeSean Hamilton? He is a WR on Penn State. One scout thinks he will go undrafted.   I'd like my team to select him. He is a high character guy. He played well at the Senior Bowl. The Vikes have 3 sixth round picks. If he is still there in the 6th, I want us to draft him.

Highly unlikely he's there at 6th round unless he really lacks drive.. one of the best route runners in the class.

I don't think he'll last to round 6.  He's not one of those guys who will light up the stat box, but he's got plus route running ability, good (not great) hands, and he knows how to get open.  He will be a solid #2 type of receiver, or at least that's his ceiling, but he's got a good chance to stick on a roster because his transition to the NFL has a clearer path, even if you shouldn't expect him to be much more than a 5-7 receptions 75 yards a game when he's at his best.

75 yards per game... is a lot. 1200 in a full season. Less than 10 receivers averaged more than 75 yds per game last year. He probably won't get to that or even close and I'm a fan of the kid.

I didn't mean as a per average game, I meant that is as much as you can expect when he's at his best.

Ah, my bad. That I can agree with though many starting receivers usually have game or few per season where they get over 100 yds.
