Recommended Posts

Welcome, all of our GMs and spectators, to our 2nd Annual Gavin Memorial Mock Draft GM Game! Here's everything that you all will need to know for this years game! Have Fun!!

Here's a quick link to last years draft as a refresher:

http://forums.colts.com/topic/50515-gavin-mock-draft-gm-game-round-1/

Rules:

Quote

1) There are no trades allowed. You don't have to explain your picks but if you wish to, you may do so.

2) There will be a minimum of 8 picks in a day thus allowing each GM a window of 3 hours to get their pick in to the commish (csmopar). There is no maximum if GMs send their picks ahead of time to me or if they are glued to the thread for the draft.

3) The one rule change based on suggestions from last years post is a sleep/offline period from 10 pm EST  to 8 am.

This is a more friendlier format that might help you underline or score out players already drafted. The other one, however, has links you can pull up. It is your choice, whichever you want to go with.

FYI: I shall post the picks as soon as possible after I receive them. Ive cleared my schedule for this evening but that doesn't rule out a few minute delay here or there. Also, we will not start Round 2 on this thread, there will be a separate one for each round.

Good Luck to all.  Most importantly, have fun.

I will go into the OP whenever I get the chance and update picks there as well in order for ease of access if your last post is too far off! Thanks for heading this up this year!! And Good Luck to everyone!!

Saquan Barkley has decided to holdout and demands a trade. Since there are no trades in this draft, CR91 and the Browns must choose another player! :)

Nope sorry haha

Good pick CrazyOne, and thanks alot for robbing the Colts of the pass rusher they needed for the next 10 years! :(

Yeah that to me was an odd draft choice for the Giants. They have much bigger needs elsewhere. This is where the Colts would unquestionably trade down to the highest bidder for a QB needy team.

Yeah, whose side are you on anyway? Should of drafted a Punter and Kicker 1 and 2. Then the Colts could get whomever they wanted!

If no one wanted the Patriots I was gonna do exactly that every round

Chubb is fine at 2. You don't draft for need in the NFL Draft. Or at least the best GMs don't. That's for the later rounds more than the early ones. You have to get BPA in each draft and build around that or you just waste so much value every year.

I didn't draft for need in round 1. I took BPA IMO.

    • You think the Ed Dodds you see in edited clips here is the same as the Ed Dodds who interviews with teams?   I don’t know you or anyone would think that?      He’s very much respected around the NFL which is why multiple teams ask to interview with them most every year.

    • Yeah... Richardson needs players who can separate and who can get open deep. IMO "give the inaccurate QB a contested catch receiver with large catch radius" is one of the tropes that hasn't proven to work well. Contested catches have about 50-55% success rate even with the best of contested catch receivers and with relatively accurate QBs... now if you think AR's accuracy is not good, drop that rate even more. The best way to give a relatively inaccurate QB better chance to complete passes is to give him a WR who separates and and who is open so the QB would have more of a margin for error to throw the ball a little behind or ahead or a little higher or lower than ideal. (we are not talking about uncatchable balls here... those will be uncatchable for anyone really). In that regard, one thing I would agree about is - we need WRs who have good hands and have good ball skills.   And this is ignoring that AR has indeed been pretty good with his accuracy on passes at intermediate and long range. His biggest problem coming into the league was the short stuff and he was already showing improvements in that deparment before he got injured.    And Worthy is the WR who created the most separation from anybody in this draft :
    • Richardson  accuracy  on deep balls is his strength.  Hence why you pair an elite deep threat in worthy.
