Would you want Frank Gore re signed for at least one more year?

No, Frank Gore at his point in his career is the type of running back you bring in for your team when your playoff primed and ready to make a run at a championship, which is what we thought we were after we reached the AFCCG, obviously we have went seriously down hill since then, we are rebuilding at this point. Time to let Frank walk, draft another RB to go with Mack.

I hate to agree with this, but I am afraid I have to.  Its the right thing to do, for us and for Gore... sadly.

I agree he deserves a shot to win a title and he isn't going to get that here any time soon.

Frank would do well to take a Dwyane Wade type of background role and try to win a championship. I don’t think he’d get that here and would like to see him go to Philly or Minnesota and win one with one of those teams. Just as long as he’s not a Patriot, I’d be rooting for him.

I think he goes West and joins Seattle, just to kick the 49ers' butts. :)

Yes. He's a beast.

This team is better than most people are giving them credit for.

Fix the offensive line, hire a competent coach,  and we win 12+ games with a healthy Luck.

And for the record I was one of those people saying this team was awful all around at the beginning of the season.

It might actually be in his best interests to go to San Fran as opposed to Seattle. They look pretty good since Jimmy G showed up.

RW is time tested, Jimmy G is just the new kid on the block, let us not get carried away.

Plus, it will take a few years for San Fran to get to the top while Seattle just needs a few tweaks to get back to the top, IMO.

No way. I was surprised he wasn't traded at the deadline for a conditional 7th rounder. I feel horrible for him finishing his career here. trading him to a contender would have been the right thing to do.

I have no idea how true it is but I heard Ballard brought Frank in when a offer was on the table to go to a contender and asked Frank out of respect what he wanted to do and Frank had a very simple response "I am a Colt and would like to stay a Colt" .

Yes he is obviously pretty old by RB standards, but he still is playing fairly well at his age.

I have actually pondered this over the past few weeks. I think we should bring Gore back on a 1-year deal. His role will be reduced, but he will bring that veteran presence that we need.

Nobody "deserves" a ring. I would love to see Frank get one but as a team sport he's guaranteed nothing no matter what team he plays for.

He's definitely not getting one in Indy, but he's welcome to play with us for as long as he wants, with no promises on what his role would be.

With the dismal state of our O-line the past way too many seasons, I couldn't understand why anyone thought we were a RB away from a title.

Of course I'd want him back!   What's the alternative?   Not Mack that is for sure.   Turbin?   Yea maybe.

This us team has too many holes to upgrade every position.   He's still a 1000 us rusher and was the bright spot of the offense this year   Why get rid of a productive player?

Seems like he wants to leave but I wouldn't mind having him around for another year.

I kinda want to move on but at the same time I'm not huge on the FA options. And Mack/late round rookie doesn't sound too appealing, even if Turbin comes back. They could draft a RB high but I just kinda doubt Ballard does.

With the O-line being so bad and Luck missing so much time, it's hard to evaluate Gore during his time as a Colt.

I wouldn't automatically dismiss the idea of bringing him back.  With O-line improvements, could he still be a 4.2 YPC back for a season?  Probably.  If you went that route, you would need to bring in another every down back to share some of his carries, then create a weekly specialty package for Mack.

That said, we'll have a new coach shortly, and the new coach will want his own guys, so I expect plenty of new faces.

I can really see San Fran take Barkley if they have the opportunity.  I have a hunch they know the importance of surrounding your QB with all the weapons he needs.

    • I can too. And that will tell us everything we need to know about how the view him. It will tell us their feelings on the tight end room, and what direction they pick from there will tell us even more.    but if they take him at 15, we won’t know much about what might have happened, as they will be landing someone they had rated highly and fell to them.
    • Glad that’s over…    if I wanted to argue about it, I would have responded far more in depth than pointing out how you were attempting to gaslight me. I did not. Meaning I was ending my part of whatever the argument was. You “putting a finality to it” and then listing bullet points tells me it was the argument you wanted all along, which makes sense why you brought Grigson up in the first place. Bait, hook, gaslight. Almost got me buddy. You are a funny guy, Doug
    • Putting a finality on an argument you want to have.   There is a theory that Ballard won't draft a OL high because ARs injuries were not caused by a poor oline.  I felt it important to note that since Luck's major injuries were also not caused by his oline, Ballard could still want to improve it like he did in 2018 simply because AR is The Franchise. And its important to point that out because there has been a running (false) narrative for about 9 years that Luck's oline was the (main) reason for his injuries that kept him out of games.  The (false) narrative is based upon, IMO, a detest of Grigson, and not reality about the facts (or strong rumors) behind the kidney laceration and snowboarding shoulder. Therefore, mentioning Grigson and the (false) narrative was germain to the point about Ballard possibly drafting Oline high this draft to protect AR. Mentioning Grigson shouldn't trigger a CB vs RG discussion, unless people reading it are gaslighted by their own reading lens.
    • That is a very inaccurate description of what happened.  At this point it’s history and doesn’t need to be revisited but I will say Chloe adds value to this board and should be and is by most encouraged to post, even if people don’t always agree with her.
    • My response was in regards to another posted suggesting that the Colts need to get the pick right when it comes to picking a WR. I agree with you .
