and rightfully so.  That was as blatant as throwing a punch.  Honestly, i think he deserves a 2-3 game suspension.

"Gronkowski will appeal the penalty, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter." Watch, he'll get off free and clear.

I don't think so. It's all on tape.

No he won't but he should have been tossed from the game but he will serve the suspension which should have been more games. It is one thing to sucker punch a player but to elbow drop him when he is lying on his face. Punkowski will never live that down. WWF vs. NFL is not far down the road.

The NFL Gods @Gronk:

That was some bush-league stuff.  He is lucky that didn't escalate.  That could have gone much worse for him.  He was trying to get old-school in a new-school league.  If he does something like that again, somebody on the opposing defense is gonna go old-school Chuck Bednarik and make sure he ends up in those Forrest Gump leg-braces on the next play...

So he is appealing this way too liberal punishment, based on what? Also, why is "frustration" the new out for every time a thug gets out of line? Gronkowski's act was an attack on a defenseless player. Anyone that did that has most likely done it before. Maybe beating up disabled people is his idea of masculinity. His history of a lack of similar acts in the NFL is not grounds for only a one game suspension. To appeal it is a slap in the face. So the upcoming game with the Bills will be interesting. Hoody should sit Brady for that game if he has any sense of street justice.

If they lose Gronk for any period of time, their playoff hopes take a HUGE hit. They will play the Steelers the game prior, for which they will have Gronk. If they win that, they may limit Gronk's snaps, IMO, especially if Chris Hogan is back. Every time he gets off the line of scrimmage, he might get a chop block or hard chip, no doubt about that.

TreDavious White, on his twitter, hinted that everybody wants a piece of Gronk on Christmas eve.

Gronk isnt paid for what is between his ears.  He's a nitwit that happens to be very good at catching a football.

That doesnt make him a good or bad person.

He's just gonna make euspect decisions.......: often.

stuff like dating porn stars n stuff.

obviously you can't buy class.

I don’t blame him. The refs didn’t even throw a flag on PI while the guy piggybacked him basically. Refs should lose pay for missing calls like that.

In addition, Refs should also be suspended for not tossing guys when they perform flagrant and dangerous acts. And a player being disqualified from a game should not count as time served for any subsequent suspension.

The Bengals/Steelers games are always anticipated to be a street brawl only to hear everyone complain and whine about the violence the day after. Anyone have a suggestion to deter this kind of behavior other than the current weak kneed rules in place? Here's mine: three games suspension with no appeal. What do you imagine s the basis for Gronk's appeal? He tripped and fell on the guy? A player's right to appeal is now an abuse of their right to appeal,

Having the right to appeal is everyone's right including you.

He appealed and was turned down.

Interesting how few posts are here on this topic.

Because no one expects the NFL to be a respectable league anymore. They are going down the drain. Between the play, the off field issues, the on field stuff, and the forced social commentary nobody expects much anymore. I struggle to even turn it on Sundays anymore....and when I think that the Colts are 3-9....well I don't care if church runs late and I miss the first quarter...just saves my misery lol.

Ironic no post with a video on the Pitts game Sunday night where the guy was put on a stretcher and even stood over the guy taunting him. The illegal hit was declined and the taunting foul accepted.

Players are so much stronger and faster today. I don't see anything changing and less you totally weaken tackling. Which wouldn't bother me.

Totally disgraceful moment for Gronk. Gave the guy a concussion, not cool at all. Don’t get the wrong idea because almost all Pats fans agree with the rest of the NFL this time, lol...

I don’t think we’ll ever see anything like this out of him again. I know his coach was pretty annoyed and disgusted with it too (search for the post game handshake video). I hope they don’t need him in week 17 because the Bills will definitely be targeting him.

I saw what he did I think he should be gone for the season for that there is no room for that in sports.

If you want to clean up the game, change the rules: penalize the first offense of unsportsmanlike conduct with expulsion from the game, second offense suspension for the rest of the season, and third offense with lifetime ban.  Then make a list of all the things that count as unsportsmanlike conduct, share it with the owners and the NFLPA and enforce.  Let's not expect thugs to behave like Boy Scouts.

No union is ever going to give up their right to appeal just like no league is going to give up their right to deny the appeal as was done here.

I won't dispute the no appeal under the current rules. But I am learning no appeal for some hits is the rhetoric in the media. There is "The Gronk Rule"  idea being tossed around now. Not sure what it is but let's wait and see if anything transpires over the off season.

That was sickening too. It's clear most on here have a NE bias and also that happened on Sunday when everyone was watching games. Both situations were disgusting. There is very little the league can do to stop some of the stuff. The extra uncalled for stuff needs to warrant an immediate ejection...the targeting needs to be like college and let them review and kick the guy. Players don't care about fines...but they will care if they get kicked out of the game. I agree players are so much stronger and faster... I think they need to widen and lengthen the field....like in Canada. Widen the field means there are more room for recievers to catch and protect themselves before a safety or someone else can come and hit them. Basically more room to operate. The scoring will go through the roof but the NFL likes that anyways. The endzone needs to be deeper because there is not enough room to operate on the goal line for receivers....definitely going to be collisions there. So if I was on the competition committee these are the things I would do.

1. Go to CFL field diminsions.

2. Targeting penalties (reviews) and ejections.

3. Move to 3 preseason games and establish an extra bye week....figure a way out to schedule so that players don't turn around and play Sunday and then again on Thursday.

4.Fumble through the endzone stays with the team that fumbles and goes back to the point of last full control.

5. Increase roster size

Those are my suggestions.....maybe something with OT because I hate it...maybe something similar to college but that's it.

I can't stand the Pats, but I don't mind Gronk for some reason.  Possibly because he is too dumb to be smug like all the other Pats fans and players.  That being said, the dude was grabbing him the whole way, tripped him up and then intercepted the ball.  I probably would have done the same thing if I were Gronk.
