Alex Smith started being Alex Smith again, and teams got game tape they didn’t have in the first month of the season. And injuries, but every team has them.

Yeah, they have tape on him, but Alex Smith was asked to manage the game again more than given the reigns and trust to wing it like he was doing, in the beginning. My fantasy team with Kareem Hunt is hurting because of that.

Come on Andy!!! Come on Alex!!! :)

KC stopped running the ball well enough. Kareem Hunt was not told any different. I own him in several FF leagues and the holes between the tackles are not being made like earlier in the season and Kareem does not have the vision to take the ball outside the tackles when the holes are not there.

They went from Alex Smith chucking the ball and being an impactful QB in this passing league back to him being a game manager. They have to put the ball back in his hands and make plays in the passing game to open up the running game, it is as simple as that.

On D, their D misses Berry for sure but that is no excuse to give up the same kind of runs outside the tackles that the Steelers gash them with every time they play them only that now it happens with other teams too. That is how the Steelers beat them in the playoffs, kicking 6 FGs. Teams know not to throw against their strength but know that there are certain runs that will work against that front if you stay patient. That is EXACTLY what the Giants did, beat them in a FG game. That is pretty much what the Patriots did, used the run in game 1 for Gillislee to punch it in instead of trying to force the pass. It is just that the Patriots' D in game 1 was not nearly what it is now, night and day.

I know Andy Reid is not stupid and is great with Xs and Os, but then he can be stubborn, that is where Belichick is different, he moves on from things that do not work faster and does not let any stubborn ways get in the way.

You touched on several things.

One they do have some oline issues.

One Reid is no longer calling the offense.  I don't know why.  But the guy calling plays is not using their weapons correctly.  For example, T. Hill does one of two things, he runs a deep route or he's used as a decoy on a fake end around.  Hill is a good receiver and a good route runner, they need to use him more as a complete receiver.

Same thing with Kelce.  Kelce is a great TE but he's not going to run over a lot of tacklers, he's going to run past them.  But instead of having him work between the hashes, they are using him as a blocker or trying that stupid shovel pass when he's right behind the center.  But they need to start him off between the hashes and then have him do the double move to the outside.

They take Hunt out on most passing downs now.  He is not as good a blocker as West, so that is part of the reason.  But the defense has been so bad lately, that they have to abandon consistently running the ball.

Defensively.  D. Johnson is not  the sideline to sideline player he used to be, so the run defense is not as good.  Sorenson is not as good in coverage as Berry and Berry was able to cover up some of the weakness at any CB not named Peters.  And now Peters is still great in coverage but he doesn't want to tackle any more, he only tries to strip the ball and it leads to a lot of extra yards by the receiver.

Actually, Andy Reid was, till the second half of the Bills game. Then Matt Nagy took over and it took him about a half more of the Bills game, until the Jets game to start using his passing weapons better. This is the guy some of us Colts fans wanted to consider for HC??? I don't think so at this point but this is a good read:

Maybe our Colts' OC needs to read it :) - young OCs like Matt LeFleur with the Rams and Matt Nagy with the Chiefs are creating a lot of plays with motion incorporated. The Colts' offense is getting stale, IMO, and not as creative.

It looks like the benching of Marcus Peters and a change in defensive philosophy and offensive philosophy (actually, going back to what worked before with Kareem Hunt) has helped the Chiefs. These guys will be a dangerous #4 seed, IMO.

When you see the Chiefs secondary get INTs but give up rushing yards, that is the kind of Chiefs' D that they can play. The Chiefs CANNOT be all world beaters against the run and the pass. They had to choose, and in a passing league, you'd rather be run on a bit than consistently passed on. That is how Mike Gillislee got 3 rushing TDs against them in game 1 and Brady was limited to no TDs. They have gone back to that style of defense.

The Jaguars are the only ones who, since getting Marcel Dareus, are hard to run on and pass on consistently. Blake Bortles, the X factor, will continue to be the X factor, till he shows us he can get them to a SB. Actually, they have a good #2 vs #3 match up vs the Steelers, even if it is on the road.

The Jags look soo good. But youre right.. Bortles has to come to play in the playoffs. I wanted soo bad for the Steelers to finish off the Pats last night and have the PAtriots go TO Jax in the Divisional round..
