Had two obvious brain farts that resulted in huge penalties. This was not the first time. I seem to remember him have quite a few reckless penalties, anyone know if that is a stat that can be looked up? Is it even kept?

Can't help you. But he is our poster boy for why in the 2nd rd you draft Football Players before you pick athletes to develop.

Is it kept? This guy is the 43rd to do this on a Thursday night game following a bye. Oh, it's out there.  :spit:

Like Dwayne Allen and Philip Dorsett :violin:

Surprisingly, Allen just caught his first pass (a touchdown...) today.  Not surprisingly, he fought it all the way in.  Was totally shocked that ol’ stone hands didn’t drop it.  Judging by all of their celebrations, the whole team, Allen included, seemed shocked he caught it too...

Green has a lot of potential blitzing from the slot.  His speed and heat seeking style can create problems from there.  I’m shocked Monachino hasn’t used him in that role more. It’s like our coaches have no vision or creativity...

But back to Green, he’s proven to be more of a liability more often than not. Either bone headed penalties or taking out teammates with friendly fire.  Need to minimize his role and make him a specialist.

Maybe by mastering a single skill (blitzing off the edge), he can increase his confidence, football IQ, and awareness???  Because leaving him out in space and him having to read and react just ain’t working.

If we can have Hooker and Geathers on the field together next season while bringing in TJ Green for special packages, we might find a spot for him on this defense.

He's pretty darn fast. Maybe bring him in on some Blitz packages.

That's a big if. Geathers and Hooker are both injury prone. We need to draft/sign a bunch of secondary players this offseason

I would be willing to give him another year under a new DC.

He has the size and speed. He just needs a Coach that can bring out the best in him.

Look at Tim Jennings and Jerry Hughes.

He's only in his second year on his rookie contract.

I'd give him one more year to prove himself.

I don't know. I know it's possible, but he just never shows he can cover, tackle, or use his head. He's had I think 5 personal foul calls in his time here and always gets exposed in man to man. Time to move on.

ive thought that could be the one thing that he is useful for too

we dont seem to call many db blitzes though

We don't seem to blitz often period and with the lack of speed from Morrison and Bostic  the online has nothing to worry about coming up the middle lol

I don't think calling them injury prone is fair.

Geathers has been out a while for a massive hit he laid out during the Titans game last year (to win the game on a fourth down stop) and you cannot mess with the neck and so I think he will be solid in the lineup once fully recovered, and Hookers injury looked a sore one and I am sure he mentioned it was only the second time he had missed games through injury in his football career (cant recall the exact quote but something along those lines).

Agree we need more depth though just in case.

Greens piling on penalty was stupid and totally unnecessary.. That play changed momentum in a very close ball game. All that talent hes like a Al Davis pick who unfortunately never live up to his ability!

Ehh I don't think that play specifically changed the momentum. Sure, it took it away from us, as we had just pinned them at the 1, but Pittsburgh punted after that anyways.

The real momentum changer I think was the shazier pick, which was the result of a broken play mixed together with brilliant instincts by shazier. From then on, even though it was still tied for another 10 minutes, you could just feel that the steelers had taken control of the game.

IMO that was still a momentum changer the play you reference was the game changer. fI Shazier doesn't make that play we/ The Colts were still holding on for dear life.

Green is a work in progress. No way I judge him solely on the pile play. A play I see regularly that goes uncalled 99% of the time.

Also, the holding call on the punt was nonsense. I've now watched it multiple times in slo-mo and he doesn't hold anyone.

Much ado about nothing...

I think TJ played 44% of the defensive plays this week.  He's primarily  a ST player.  Now i dont dislike the guy but he makes ALOT ob bonehead penalties, late hits, personal fouls, and holds.  Did i mrntion ALOT? I seem to mainly remember the ones that turn the game.  that too, happens ALOT.  Two BIG  ones this week that really hurt.

he's knocked our own guys out of games with late hits too.'

is it lack of focus? He's somewhat of a risk.

is anyone aware of penaty stats by player?

You can't fix stupid, and high jumping on top of a pile of players when the play is over is about as stupid as it gets.

What on earth did he really think his contribution on that play was going to be?

Other than it looks like a lot of fun? No clue.
