Chud: There were play calls for Mack, but some of them were run/pass options and Brissett opted to pass.

Chud: There were "some things up" for Mack. Some run-pass options "went the other way." #Colts

Chud on lack of touches for Marlon Mack: Team had a bunch of run-pass options called that went pass at line of scrimmage, esp. in 2nd half.

Krunk your giving me a headache trying to figure this out. . . . .  So they had plays for Mack, but then Brissett opted to pass but they just went the other way, especially in the second half.  So is it Brissett's problem or Chud's haha . . . . OR BOTH perhaps???

Went the other way means Brissett chose to pass.    I feel Chud has some say in the process though.

Are we tanking or wth? Win able game lost by coaches. BTW  Brissett is worth a 1st plus some. I don't cry and I can't laugh at this, pitiful. This team with Brissett can win this division without our coaches.

Brissett is not worth a 1st round pick IMO.

Bob Kravitz @bkravitz

Chudzinski: Losing Turbin will give Marlon more opportunities, in two minute drill, etc. Good opportunity for him. We'll get him the ball.

I'm wondering why this wasn't the mentality against Tenn?  I only buy so much of the Jacoby checked out of all the designed runs and opted for passes comment.

Exactly!  I will believe it when I see it.

Chud should be putting his foot down, especially with a QB that is just seasoned a few games in his career, Brissett would have no problem if Chud did that. I would still give him 3 different run options but run it is, for this down.

Rookie or not, you HAVE to give some freedom for your QB. The run-pass option is one of the easiest option play considering the learning process, because most young QB's play a lot of those in college. So they know the keys to read already. If Brissett opted to pass, it was either his fault if it was the wrong read, or this was what the Titans defense gave him.

Btw, snapcounts from the Titans game:

Gore: 23 snaps

Turbin: 21 snaps

Mack: 14 snaps

Considering that Gore and Turbin are the superior pass blockers (so they earn some extra snaps in obvious pass plays), the snap distribution was close to 1/3 for each.

We will see how they will share snaps after Turbin's injury. Probably Matt Jones will get his chance, but I expect Gore's and Mack's snapcounts to go up.

I think if Gore is getting stuffed you switch up the pace and implement more runs to Mack as a change of pace. Same way Seattle switched up the pace on us in the second half and went more with their speed backs instead of Eddie Lacy.   I just don't see how it's a winning formula especially with the changes we've had on the O line to put the ball almost completely in Brissetts hands and think he's going to win it for us.   There were other issues as well such as Doyle and his Shenanigans but jeesh.  We play a most frustrating brand of football in the second halfs of these games and it's real puzzling.

I agree.  Give Mack some inside runs and some outside runs to keep the defense honest and give him the best opportunity to break one.  But, let's be honest.  Between Gore and Mack, they had only 12 carries.  That's just a weak offense that isn't generating enough running plays.  In any healthy offense, Gore should be getting 12-15, Mack 8-10 and Turbin (now Jones) 5.  If this offense isn't generating 25-30 carries/gm it is stumbling.

    • Medical definitely.  His production heavily outweighs the age issue. Although I’ve wondered if his physical maturity is why he did so well.  But he doesn’t rely on great physical attributes.     I think two bold things.  Irsay demands we go get Marv jr.  if not then we are taking an edge rusher.  If latu is at 15 it seems like the clearest lock to me.   Maybe not so bold.
    • I'll be scratching me head forever if the Colts pass on him, and he turns out to be Aaron Donald.    I know you're big on "measurables". I remember back in the day arguing with you about Braden Smith being able to play RT because his arms weren't long enough. Don't get me wrong, I know measurables certainly play a part. But I still take the player and his skillset over his measurements.
    • Are you hoping it doesn't happen because he doesn't fit the Colts profile? Or because you don't think he'd be a good player for us?   I agree that he's not a Ballard type of prospect, and for that reason, I doubt we draft him. We only have one DT who's shorter than 6'4" -- Adebawore is 6'2", he was drafted in the 4th round, he's an outlier athlete, has really long arms, and I think he's probably more of a DE/DT hybrid. Drafting a 6'0" DT/3T, especially in the first round, doesn't seem like something Ballard would do.   But I think Murphy is a really good player, and a really good athlete, despite his lack of size. His speed and explosive numbers are great for a player his size. His tape looks good. He fits our defensive scheme. He led all interior DL prospects with a 19.6% pressure rate. He hates being blocked, and plays like he lives his life for the sole purpose of defeating offensive linemen.    I am not comparing him to Aaron Donald. But before the 2014 draft, I said Donald was the kind of guy you just draft and figure it out, whether he fits your scheme/profile or not. In no way am I saying Murphy is as good as Donald was, not even as a prospect, but I think he might be good enough to apply the same logic. Put him in a gap shooting front and let him disrupt.    I would not mind if we drafted him at all. It would be a big surprise, but I think he's a really good prospect.
    • I was waiting for his mock today. Some interesting picks but nothing quite as exciting as him predicting the Texans trade up to 3 and them getting Stroud and Anderson. The most interesting one is him giving JC Latham to the Chargers at 5. I expect them to get an OT but I thought it would be Alt. Lets see...    Another interesting thing - Brian Thomas Jr drops all the way to 28 to the Bills. There has been some rumors about him having a shoulder issue that would need to be addressed surgically at some point. Possible he falls. Latu falls to 27 too... I guess health related again.    Worthy and Mitchell go 31 and 32 to the 49ers and the Chiefs... Urgh!
    • I have noticed this too, nothing against Murphy he is a good player, but I’m hoping for a WR or atleast the TE Bowers.
