Hmm, I listened to the radio show and both he and Pagano said they "hoped" to work him back in this week. I don't recall either saying with certainty.

Ballard said he’s practicing this week. He’ll be limited, but practicing nonetheless.

"We'll slowly start working him back into practice this week," Ballard said. "We'll see how much he gets. But we've got a plan in place to where we want him to start getting him reps and then, in time as we can get him incorporated back into team work and all that, we'll get him back on the field."

Yay. He'll be back just in time for us to be out of it.

But I do miss watching him play.

We have not played a single division game this season. We are far from out of it. If Brissett can get the W this week vs SF. We aren't looking too when we open the division with the Titans. We have Davis back and it looks like we will add Kelly this week. Hopefully Luck the following week.

We are getting our guys back at the right time to get this thing on track. Kelly should immediately help the OL. He's a much better player than Bond and he will get the calls right. Nothing against Bond he played as well as could've been expected.

Luck will follow pretty quickly. They are going to have a hard time holding him back when he starts suiting up and working with his guys. All the nonsense about forcing a trade and sitting out the season is garbage. Luck is one of the most competitive guys in the league. If he starts practicing this week I think we see him vs Tenn.  Brissett was ready in how many practices?  Luck knows the playbook and if they've been holding back until he had the strength back in his arm. He's not going to shake the rust off at practice.

My worry is the expectation level. Luck is expected to trot out onto the field and win immediately in a flawed offense with a shaky O-line (hopefully Kelly helps but still holes) and receivers who are posted missing in 75% of our games.

You always hope Andrew's influence on the team mentally will be a factor but how much can we really expect from him when he needs time to settle back into the offense when we come up against the Titans, Texans and Jags who are finding their flow (some more than others).

That's right. ......he is. Just like always.

He's still likely two to three weeks away and will be coming back to a team that is still deeply flawed. It's hard for me to get excited about it honestly.

I hear you.  My only comment was I was happy for Andrew that he has, it appears,   at least reached the point where he can practice and throw again.  You know it has to have been killing him to not be able to participate in anything.

At least it's a step in the right direction.

Yeah it's exciting for him personally and for those of us that truly enjoy watching him play. I just wish he was coming back to better circumstances.

So here we are entering week 5 and still no clear indication of when or IF AL will return.  In the off season preparation you mean to tell me that with all the precautions Irsay was taking he didn't know the extent of Luck's incapacity?  Talking to the "docs" everyday?  So what happens predictably, in desperation Irsay pulls the trigger on deal to bring in Brisset one week before the start of the season! No knock on Brisset who may in the long term may be the answer to #2 behind AL, but why couldn't Pagano or our new "Genius" Ballard see Tolzien or Walker weren't  capable starters?  Walker had some good pre-season moments but the anointed starter Tolzien was awful.  It's plain to see now we don't have the Horses, but what's worse we don't have a competent  jockey or trainers either.

This post has been done already. As has been stated many times, the only true person who knows all of these answers is Andrew. The doctors, coaches and administration can go only off of his word. It's not like they have a computer set up to his shoulder to determine how he feels...

And I guess if you think Andrew owes you something since your a fan, go ask him yourself when he will start?

Luck will not be at his best right away either, we will have to let him re-develop.  but I fear many fans won't understand, or care.  they want 'elite performance now, every time. That may come, but in time.

Yes, it appears his recover/rehab has been relatively on schedule the whole time.  On the longer side of normal range, but a normal time frame nonetheless.

Also we will all have to remember. Luck will be cleared to play soon, but his shoulder is not 'feeling' normal.  That can take up to another 2 or 3 months.  He will have to learn to 'trust' it over these next few weeks while re-establishing his skills.  There's a physical and mental hurdle to clear, here.

Back in July 2008, Peyton Manning had an infected bursa sac in his knee removed. Manning enjoyed his normal offseason regimen before the knee issue interrupted his training camp and preseason. Luck’s entire offseason has been anything but his normal, and missing training camp and preseason too.

Luck delivered his final pass Jan. 1 against Jacksonville, a game-winning 1-yard touchdown to tight end Jack Doyle.  Had surgery soon after. He has not played, or practiced at all since.

Manning in 2008 (after missing training camp and preseason-

In the Colts 1-2 start, Manning completed 59.1 percent of his passes and averaged 6.5 yards per attempt with four touchdowns and three interceptions. His passer rating: 73.1.
Over the remainder of the season, Manning led the Colts to an 11-2 record. His completion percentage bounced to 69.96 and his yards per attempt to 7.4 He delivered 24 touchdowns, suffered eight interceptions. His passer rating: 101.1.

Peyton was quoted - “You’re somewhat in the unknown a little bit. To think you can just parachute in there on Sunday into the new stadium on the day of the Bears game and think you’re ready to go is ridiculous."  This was a knee recovery, just imagine a throwing shoulder!

“Obviously I’m going to need some time.’’  So too will it be with Andrew Luck.  This is also why he needs to get game reps this year. As long as we can keep him from any more injuries.

I'm hoping we see him at Tenn but I have my doubts.  We'll see

    • No.   You weren’t.   If you were the least bit sincere, we’d be having these conversations in private.  But you’ve repeatedly ignored my efforts to do that.  Your call.      Then you avoid me until I’m in an uncomfortable conversation with another poster.   You use that awkward moment as an excuse for you to come in with some sincere friendly advice.   The problem is, you’re neither sincere, nor friendly.  And you’ve been doing this for months now.  This is not new.   The pattern is clear and obvious.     And the shame of it all is that even with our different views on Ballard we have enough in common that we should be friendly.  Maybe not friends, but friendly.  You wouldn’t need to address me as “Sir.”    “Good deed going unpunished”.  You flatter yourself.     But your actions speak much louder than your words.   There’s no reason for me to trust you.  And here we are.  A real shame.
    • In a year when the Colts were in serious need of a QB and in position to draft one, Ballard came up in front of the media 3 days before the draft and straight up said something to the effect of "That guy everybody in media is talking about(Levis), we are not taking him". I don't know why you think the Colts are trying to throw us off the scent this year specifically. They are not trying to give us away the pick(thus the vagueness), but I also don't really think they are trying to mislead anybody. This usually becomes specifically apparent in retrospect after the draft when you look back at a lot of those quotes in the videos they release pre-draft... and they were talking precisely about players we ended up drafting, which they reveal in the post-draft video by extending some of those quotes(they did that with AR last year for example).    And about why people are doing it(guessing who they are talking about) - because it is fun. Nobody has the illusion that we will be right in our guesses 100% of the time... or anywhere close really... but it's still fun. And it's part of why the Colts release those videos with those quotes - to create engagement with the fanbase... part of which, and the entirety of which that 70 pages thread and whole board is about in the offseason. is to guess who the Colts might take and how they might feel about specific prospects.
    • Sir, I was just trying to help you out. No good deed goes unpunished!
    • Not the least bit surprised to hear from you at this moment.   You see me in an uncomfortable conversation (with a moderator no less) and you seize the moment to take a shot at me.  And you try to act like you’re giving me a sincere explanation of what you’re doing.   Like you have an ounce of credibility with me.      This is not the first time you’ve done this.  While I may not be surprised, I’m certainly disappointed.
    • Things have now gone from bad to worse.     After I explained myself, I was kind of hoping you’d simply come back with “I’m sorry, I misunderstood you,  may bad.”  And we’d be done with this.  It would be over.      But instead, you double down on the roommate issue and follow up by questioning everything I said by breaking down some of my comments and what you think I really meant by them.     In other words, you’re telling me my motive, my meaning, as if you know my meaning better than I do.    It’s interesting to me…. I was recently told there’s an unofficial moderator policy:  don’t attack the poster, attack the argument.    Well, I don’t see that here.  You attacked me personally the first time and instead of a simple apology, you’ve double downed on a bad hand by attacking me personally AGAIN.      Why you’re comfortable telling me you know my meaning , my intention, better than I do is mystifying to me.  And frankly, I think you’re comfortable doing this because one of us is a moderator, and it certainly is NOT me.     I’ll say it again: you misunderstood my meaning, and intention,  the first time, and you’ve misunderstood me even worse the second time.   As I said before, I’m happy to withdraw and apologize for “go figure”, but the negative inference was not my intention.  Poorly phrased, I give you (in two posts now).   I don’t know what else to say…. I’m hoping this brings this very unfortunate exchange to an end.
