Jags Attendance Today - Game 2

So I am watching the Jags/Titans during the Colts commercials and I notice there is almost nobody in the stadium. I know Jacksonville has had attendance problems but what I saw today is sad. No one goes to their baseball games either. Just proves fans don't matter, just keep paying out those TV revenues.

I mean half the fans houses were probably flooded just a few days ago, I think they might be busy with more important things than football. I think the fanbase gets a pass this week haha

Do you have a link to the  attendance today?

I don't want to turn this into a separate debate, but this and the Coliseum really make it a lot easier for London to make a push for a franchise.  The stadium would be full most weeks and certainly wouldn't see the amount of empty seats as in LA for WEEK ONE of the new season.

Personally (as a Brit) I am not fully behind the idea as I would not be changing from a Colts fan to a London fan but the scenario of the Jags moving would mean its easier to see the Colts so there is an upside!

I absolutely love the UK, and the Brits are some of the nicest people I've ever met. However, the travel that the London team, and the NFL teams would have to go through on a 16 game schedule would be absolutely brutal. I'm still not sure if it can be done. I love when the NFL goes to London, and it's better than those horrible fans in LA (sorry if you are a good fan there, but most are bad football fans), but I'm not sure if they can pull if off as of now. Cheers from Colorado and I hope everything is going well in the UK!

Fully agree.  The logistics will be the problem for this.  West Coast teams and games for the London team in that area would be especially harsh.  I would be moaning about having to travel to the London game from Scotland so I can only imagine the 49ers opinion! haha

They seem to be laying down the groundwork, like one of the new football (soccer) stadiums being built in London has an NFL field underneath the pitch so the infrastructure could be there.  Again, not sure I see it.

Well, I'm glad you get a couple games a year at least. The crowd is always amazing there, and it's fantastic to watch every year. Also, thanks for being on the forum, love having some international Colts fans here!

Try looking up pro sports attendance in the state of Florida before you post. By the way I live in Houston and we got as much as 54.17 inches of water with Harvey so explain to me how the Texans played at home.

Maybe I forgot to highlight the Laughing Icon & Saturdayallday's quote stating Jax may deserve a pass this week...

The premise of your thread may very well be true, it just seems a peculiar time to make the observation...

I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see the Jags relocated sometime in the future. Also, you may have a point about tv revenues, &  your latent suggestion that Texas has "better sports fans" en masse than FL may have talking points as well, especially if using attendance statistics as a measurement. Again, it just seems like an odd time to do it...

Anyways, I hope you & your property have weathered the storm in Houston with as minimal damage as possible, & hopefully both states can recover as quickly as possible.

61,000 in attendance at the game in Jacksonville.    About 2000 less than in Indy.

large number of no shows or they got there late as the early first quarter picture of the stands showed maybe 40% full. I checked attendance numbers at other games and there were several that were lower.

I agree...it would be very difficult logistically to base a team out of London full time. Of all the owners I could see Khan being the one to push for his team to move there though. I believe he has had ownership stakes in a couple soccer teams there before. I believe the fans would support it....and one new thing to look into is how the New England Patriots this year bought their own planes....not sure why more teams haven't invested in this sooner. Players can start receiving treatment on the plane and of course they would be outfitted to provide more room and comfort for them. I could see most teams going this route....and also perhaps the NFL trying to do some creative scheduling so that teams would either come off their bye before or after playing there or perhaps coming off a Thursday night game the week before or to have a Monday night game the week after. I'm sure the league would do whatever is necessary to accomplish it.

That said the most logical thing if Jacksonville couldn't continue to support the team would be for it to move to St. Louis. If they could get a stadium deal in place its a great sports town and clearly the Kronkie deal was all about a money grab for him to move them to LA. Also they would still easily fit into the AFC South and even be closer regional/rivalry games for Indy, Stl, Ten, and Houston.

These topics are bad and simply rubbing salt in the wounds of bad teams.

Just wait till the Colts are losing 10+ games a season. That stadium will be empty too and full of opposing fans for the road team. Most NFL fans are fair weather and will not waste their money to see a bad team play (and they shouldn't). Picking on the Jags over this is a little dirty...The Rams stadium in St Louis was far worse than this for several years, and people don't even bother showing up to the 49ers new stadium since it's so bad. Even the Superdome last week was at least 1/3rd Patriots fans.

    • True, but the usual assumption is first round drafted player starts and plays many snaps however, teams look for players who can grow into higher ceiling than they're currently. For example, DE Chop Robinson is said to be raw but has all the traits to develop to be a quality edge rusher one day. I'd not be surprised if Ballard drafts him for the potential. Or similar players who would've higher ceiling in future than being an instant starter right now.    Another assumption people generally make is that the perceived holes need to be filled in and the team needs to be complete after the draft while Ballard may not draft for this year alone but with the aim to get the roster much better and near complete in a couple of years.    The way Ballard has not yielded to the pressure of competing and paying more to bring in expensive free agents, even after acquiring rookie QB, seems to indicate that he's not looking at this year alone.   Ballard may just stand pat and go BPA for any position as long as they've the player ranked higher, even if fans think another player available in position of need could play as immediate starter in this team.
    • Welcome once again to Dr. T’s annual, official, Colts Draft Contest for 2024! Believe it or not, this is the 25th year we are doing this since the first contest was the Edgerrin James draft of 1999! With only seven choices this year, we needed to be creative again. So, contestants will be asked to select an A, B, and C choice for ALL rounds. Correctly choosing choice A merits 5 points, while correctly choosing choice B or C instead will merit 4 and 3 points respectively. If one of your "A" selections is chosen, but in a different round than you predicted, you get 2 points, if one of your "B" selections is chosen in a different round than you predicted, you get 1 point, and if one of your "C" selections is chosen in a different round than you predicted, you get 0.5 points. In addition, we will have a bonus question again this year and give everyone the opportunity to predict if the Colts will trade their #15 pick! The choices will be: trade up, trade back, stay put or you can also abstain from guessing. Like last year, if you predict correctly, you earn one point, but if you are incorrect, you will be DEDUCTED one point. If you don’t want to risk it, you can also abstain (no harm, no foul). For those that do not answer this question, the default is that this is a vote to abstain. If AND ONLY IF there is no clear winner at the end of the 7 rounds of the draft, the contest will be extended for ALL participants in which everyone will also be awarded one point for each collegiate free agent you predicted would be drafted by the Colts but was instead signed by the Colts after the draft.  Make your choices here by listing the round, choice A, B, or C for each round, with the name of the player, position and school AND your prediction on whether the Colts will trade the #15 pick this year. You may also write with each choice a little blurb explaining your rationale. Your 21 Colts selections and draft question this year are as follows:   Round 1 - #15 A, B, C Round 2 - #46 A, B, C Round 3 - #82 A, B, C Round 4 - #117 A, B, C Round 5 - #151 A, B, C Round 6 - #191 A, B, C Round 7 - #234 A, B, C   BONUS: Will the Colts trade the #15 pick this year?  1) Yes, they will trade up. 2) Yes, they will trade back. 3) No, they will stay put. 4) I don’t want to risk losing a point and will abstain.   Please be a good sport and do not just copy other contestant's selections. You can easily do some research on your own, since plenty of free draft services are available on the web. You also can make changes to your selections, but this can only be done before the contest is closed on Thursday at 11:00 AM CST April 25, 2024, on the first day of the draft. Good luck and let the best GM win!
    • I guess Im not that excited about the class for one thing, maybe Im missing something.  What I see is rookie DEs fighting for playing time if they got here, I dont see big upgrades over what we have.  I do see big upgrades elsewhere that would start, probably day 1
