Jay Cutler finalizing 1 year deal with Miami

Other than throwing a lot of interceptions and being a bit aloof as a person, I think Cutler's main problem from a perception standpoint is that he was always expected to be, and getting paid like, an elite QB, which he is not.

Not a bad signing for Miami.

Yes and a major detriment to team moral and chemistry ! Just ask the Bears , they are still digging out of hole signing him helped put them in . IMO an outright dumb move by the Dolphins.

This wasn't by the Dolphins. Make no mistake... this is ALL on Adam Gase.  It's his butt on the line, and he's more willing to ride into battle with Cutler than Moore.  Twist it any way you want but that is the bottom line.

Let's see if an experienced NFL coach that has evaluated and worked with such a player can prove a typical Colts fans perspective wrong in 2017...

Time tells the truth...

I actually might be able to get into this move. At the very least it's a big name QB going to an AFC team to make things more interesting. It's a refreshing change even to hear about Jay Cutler over "Tom Brady the 40 year old GOAT" and Kaepernick.

Dolphins were the 6th seed last year, if they can get back to the playoffs (which is their obvious goal) then this move will be worth it. And Moore is a solid choice B to have as well.

I must disagree with the comparison of Cutler and Tannehill , I believe he has much more upside than Cutler ever did and a whole lot less ego and me me me to feed.

OK....

Yet it doesn't matter, Gase got his guy and is rolling with him.  January 2018 will tell the end of the story...

This is a one-year deal and there's really no downside/

Matt Moore's a good backup but at Cutler probably throws the ball better than anybody in the NFL

Physically, Jay is Aaron Rodgers

Jay just makes terrible decisions sometimes..and the killer is.....you don't know when its coming. There's no pattern.   Up here. we watched him do it for 7 years

But a couple of things seem clear
Jay isnt coming back for the money. He has signed 3 very big multi-year contracts. Unless he has some very bad habits hi family is set for life.  Even if Jay has blown all his money (He;s made about $200 mil), Jay's wife is richer than pecan pie.

Jay wants to prove he's a top QB. In the end, he failed in Denver and Chicago.

Everybody gave up on him and then Miami offers one more chance..

He didnt want to retire but most everyone in the NFL thought he wasn't a leader..wasn't a guy who cared.

Listen to the way they talk about him on the talk shows.

But there was one guy ion one team that thought he can still play and when the spot opened up, he called.

I thought he was a loser but I admire him for coming back for one more try and I wish him well.

Especially on Nov. 26 and Dec.11

    • Was that the only good receiver taken in that draft? And did they give up multiple picks?
    • Yeah, I have no beef with MHJ as a prospect (I think some are pumping him up a little too much, and there's some name recognition probably influencing the way he's talked about). It would be awesome to have him on the Colts. But just like every other draft prospect in history, the possibility exists that he will not live up to the pre-draft expectations.    But during the pre-draft process, fans and media start falling in love with players. Terms like "generational talent," "future superstar," etc., start getting thrown around. And now we're talking about a prospect as if he's a lock for the HOF before he's even played a game in the NFL. That's fine, it's fun, we all do it. But that's different from actually scouting, setting a board, and making decisions for the team.   Each of us can point to a previous prospect that we loved and raved about and had them fitted for a gold jacket, but who bounced out of the league within 3-4 years. And the same is probably true for NFL scouts and decision makers. Which is why Ballard's comment today -- there is no such thing as a perfect prospect -- is so important to remember. I'm not against the team identifying a guy they really want and going up to get him, but I hope they're not just doing it with stars in their eyes.
    • Would Cincy have made the SB without taking Chase at #5. I got the answer, and it is easy, it is a FAT NO. They would have never got by KC as great as Burrow is. Giving up next years 1st round pick isn't the end of the world to land a generational WR. We still have picks in rounds 2-7 if we did that.
    • Definitely was, but essentially all of them received the same punishment initially.     Just thought it was curious, especially right before the draft. Has to put the CB spot for the Eagles in limbo.     Been wondering if Jontay Porter's NBA lifetime ban had any play in the decision.   Rodgers did bet on his own team.
    • sure hope he does we need a game changing pass catcher
