Dwayne Allen struggling in New England so far

According to a source from camp, Belichick ripped into Allen after numerous drops, Belichick shouted to him “This isn’t Indy, those drops matter here”.

This may be my most favorite quote ever from Belichick. Damn right, this isn’t Indy, we don’t hang participation banners, this is the big show. If you can’t get on the same page, you sit, or better yet, get cut.

A reflection on Pagano's coaching....

Hmmmm?    Let's see......

We have Bill Belichick and Dwayne Allen mentioned here and no one else.

And suddenly this magically turns into a Pagano problem.......

Okie-Dokie!!           :peek:

"Damn right, this isn't Indy" to quote the OP, we cheat in NE lmao and big Fing deal if we hung a Final4 banner, that was a Very Good season in reality. The Pats hung a 16-0 banner in 2007 and lost the SB, that is worse IMO.

sound the kool aid siren!

hanging a banner for doing something 4 teams are guaranteed to do, every...single...season is better than hanging a banner for something that has only happened once in history? (only 16-0 season)...twice in history if you simplify it to a perfect regular season.

most of us in NE didnt like the 16-0 banner either, but it has far more merit than a "hey, we played in the AFCCG" banner.

and like it or not, that mentality from Belichick is exactly why the Patriots are the Patriots.  Every thing matters, whether its practice, game 1, or game 16.  Excellence and performance is expected at all times.  No excuses

Talk about kool aid drinking.

Keep telling yourself that and you may convince yourself and a few others.

I would not hang a banner unless the team won a championship, but if Irsay or anyone else wants to hang a banner for something other than that, fine.

I don't know a single Pats fan who didn't cringe when they put that banner up. It was eventually taken down, and fan reaction had something to do with it.

4 teams are guaranteed to do that, but if you are 1 of the 4 that is a borderline great season. Your team isn't guaranteed to do it. The Texans have never made a Title Game for example.  Why even hang any banners at all then unless you win the SB if people want to get technical about a team hanging a Final4 banner. -and by the way I was just having a little fun with the cheat stuff because it was Belichick talking about Indy.

If my team made it to the conference title game and lost 45 to 7, the last thing I would want is to hang a banner that says "AFC Finalist" as a sad reminder of that epic beat down.

Honestly it didn't shock me that we hung the Banner, not sure why it did other people either. Irsay has always hung these kinds of banner's. He hangs Playoff Appearance Banners. That is why I don't understand why anyone had a problem with it.

I don't read too much into that statement by BB "This isn't INDY."

It's just Bill letting Allen know who's in charge & that Emperor Palpatine doesn't accept failure well.

Remember how the Clark Kent/Superman swap always played out?

Bystander:  "Oh, Bill, you should have seen it, Emperor Palpatine was just here throwing lightning bolts and stuff at people!  Don't worry, though, Yoda showed up and chased him off.  Where were you, BTW?"

BB:  (Smoke still coming off his hoodie)  "Oh, I was just in the bathroom..."

What did he expect?  Allen dropped the ball in Indy he's gonna drop the ball in New England.  Does he think that yelling at him is suddenly going to make his hands better?  Or does he think the coaches where cool with Allen dropping the ball here.

This is why I think we got the better end of that trade.

Brady rips into Edelman every other game for a drop.  Doesn't seem to help.

This is newsworthy?  I bet every coach on every team does this when a player that previously played for another team makes a mistake.  It's a way to knock a rival, set expectations and build team pride.

i think its noteworthy

this forum has had lots of dwane allen threads, and since we just traded him away to the team colts fans hate most, we are interested to see how he does

his hands and dropped passes have always been a hot topic here

Why do you think we traded him away? He dropped way too many. He's on the Pats shoulders now.

I said last year that Allen sucks and people came back at me saying what are yo talking about he is a good player and I responded with he cant catch a cold.

"Struggling" = dropped one pass in an OTA in June.

Let's pump this up, though, by all means.

Sounds like it's been a bit worse than that

In two days of minicamp open to the media, Allen has dropped at least four passes with another few misses, including the following goal line connection between Tom Brady and Allen, courtesy of ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

    • When did he consult you about who they think is elite?
    • I have heard one GM who says he thinks LTs and defensive players may go earlier than expected. Interesting ro see who wil   Bowers won't be there at 15. He is special if u watch the tape.
    • If we stay at 15 and pick a player I would expect that player to be one of 19 he graded as a 1st rd talent.   The only WR’s I have seen in the top 20 of the entire draft are Harrison, Nabors and Odunze.  He can sit and hope if he wants but when he’s that close to possibly getting elite seems like it would be smart to move up and get one of them.  And who cares if we have to pay him a big second contract.  You should be happy you hit on a pick.  You really prefer a role player instead of elite?  Because of money.  Omg that’s an unbelievable take.  I can’t believe it.  Wow!
    • It’s hard to get a read from Ballard's presser. It almost seemed liked he co-signed his young DB room and said they’re just going to roll the dice with what they have but maybe add some competition. I get that he feels they can take a leap, but I’m not sure I can be convinced that Flowers or Jones will ever be better than Quinyon Mitchell or Cooper DeJean.   Of all of Ballard’s philosophies regarding team building (specifically related to the draft) the one I have the most issue with is the over confidence and eagerness to bank on low round players and UDFA’s as long term solutions. You have a projected starting secondary consisting a 7th round pick from Yale who did not play well last season, a 7th round corner who well outplayed his draft position, but has clear limitations athletically, a 3rd round safety who is gifted athletically, but we still don’t know if he’s better as FS or SS, and a 2nd round pick who showed great flashes when healthy but is still a question mark.    I get rolling the dice with JuJu, but I don’t see why you wouldn’t look for upgrades for Thomas and Jones/Flowers. I know he said he’d like to add competition there, but drafting a guy 4th round likely isn’t going to give your CB group a boost. I know he said they’re technically not young in his eyes, but they are young. If you’re going to add another “young” corner, add one with high end traits and skills. I’m not dead set on Mitchell or DeJean in round 1 or bust because I also like a couple day 2 corners. I’m just saying I’d much rather take a shot with one of them than just run it back with the same group.   Where we really need talent at for sure though is Edge.
