Seen Brady's "No Curse" TV Commercials?

I'll guess most of  you have seen the current commercials with Tom Brady nixing any idea of a curse. Now, I don't wish anyone a serious injury but would it not be humorous if Brady suffered an injury at home or away from the field that would no allow him to play this coming season. Again, I don't wish him any harm but a dislocated shoulder while working in his yard might be worth a chuckle in view of his now running commercials.

I'll share a weird story: Several years ago for a college art class, I made a Madden 09 cover with Tom Brady on it:

Madden games are always a year ahead, and the official '09 cover wasn't announced yet, so this was back in '08. Later, in week one of that season, Brady tore his ACL. I thought that was an interesting coincidence, but otherwise, I didn't think much of it. What really spooked me was, later, I realized the player who delivered the hit (Bernard Pollard) was born and raised from Fort Wayne, Indiana -- my home city.

I felt like I had created my own voodoo doll of Brady, and stabbed it. What were the odds of a player born in Fort Wayne playing on a bad Kansas City Chiefs defense getting a season-ending injury against Brady in week 1 on the same year I created a Madden cover? The fact Brady has never missed a game to injury since then makes it even more bizarre. I can't help but laugh at how serious I feel about this, but it's such an insane coincidence that I've never been able to dismiss it to this day.

It is time for you to make a new Brady Madden Cover.

Hey you have him yelling too.  :).

Wow what a story . . .

Interestingly, I have a story of my own experience of "if it was me" regarding sports but it was hockey and the Boston Bruins.

We have the 7th Player award voted on by the fans.   I remember trying to decide between two players one of which was Don Marcotte and another player.  I decided on Marcotte.   When the award was given out it ended up being a tie (only time btw) and remember thinking, "wow, i created the tie as i voted for Marcotte." It was a weird feeling

Perhaps they do not need an exact tie in votes, maybe within a handful of votes, but I remember the feeling.

All I know is with Brady on the cover, he and everyone else is talking about "the curse" a little TOOOOOO much.

:dunno:

I mean the best I think you can do is kinda just ignore the curse thing and let it go. Not make a big deal over it.

Then again with the NFL all I hear about anymore is really Tom Brady.

I assume we are all ready for the Jimmy G era to start.

But most Pats fans say it is impossible since apparently Brady eats magic with his special diet and drinks the blood of angels from heaven.

This forum has a weird obsession with the Pats every year it seems when they're NOT on the Colts schedule....I'd understand fearing them if the Colts had to play them, but this year around, I get to experience that in week 2.

Colts forums have always been addicted to the Patriots.

If you couldn't tell from my name, I am a big believer in Luck (both the thing and the QB).  I respect Brady for his work ethic and self-belief, but this is tempting fate.

Breaking mirrors?  Walking under ladders?  The Madden Cover?

It's like he is taunting the universe.  Not wise Tom.  This could be an epic fall from grace.  What's that saying about Karma being a...

    • Did you miss Buckner's new extension? The one with the large signing bonus and void years?
    • I like Latu, but don't you think there's a significant number of teams that are scared off by his medical? And then a couple more who will downgrade him because of his age?
    • yeah pretty much what I figured.  If they are going to start mixing up coverages and running more man coverage, then sure grab a CB in the first.  If they're going to continue being a mostly zone team regardless, then no, no round 1 CB.
    • The mission is to build something that has us competing with the best of the best. This is a season for AR to get tuned up.  Who do you think will be the right guys on our roster now to take us to an AFC Championship game?  It's not Smith, Fries, and we likely can't get there with more than 2-3 of our current back seven.  I would offer Buckner to the Bears as part of a trade for 9. Eberflus wants to have a great D so maybe he bites.  Then hopefully trade back 2-3 spots for a good pick.  I'd love to come out of the draft with Latham and the Byron Murphy II. And come out of the draft with RG Bebe.
    • I think he's a little overrated as a corner prospect. Doesn't mean I don't like him, I do. But I was hearing about how incredibly athletic he is, people were talking about him like he was a lockdown defender, then I watch him for a couple games and I don't see that. So at first I was pretty down on him. Then I went back and watched him with my expectations much lower, and I see what he has to offer.   He's definitely athletic, but not the standout, premier athlete people were making him out to be at first. Watching his high school basketball videos helped me contextualize his athleticism, there's plenty of burst there. He has some struggles flipping his hips and staying connected late in the down. He's feisty and physical, plays the run with enthusiasm, tackles well, and he has explosiveness. He's better in shorter areas when he doesn't have to try to keep up with a receiver with elite speed. I know he ran 4.43, but it wasn't a pro day, it was a private workout. I discount timed speeds at pro days, and definitely at private workouts. To me, he's closer to 4.5 than 4.4, and that's what I expected when watching him play.   To me, he's a safety/nickel prospect, not a boundary corner. And if he were looked at as a boundary corner, I think his arm length would probably disqualify him for the Colts, at least in the first round. And I think the Colts already view corner as a Day 2 position. He's said all the right things about playing multiple positions. And while I don't know how the new rules will affect kickoffs, I think it makes sense to have good options at returner, so that helps his stock as well. But I think the second round is the right range for him. If we drafted him, I think we still need a boost on the outside.
