They will draft one and a good one will probably fall to them

This draft has some guys with good future potential possibly if developed and brought along correctly, but likely not an immediate NFL ready franchise caliber guy. And the thing with the Texans is so far they haven't shown much in being able to develop a QB as thier QB history indicates. It's not looking promising for them either way. They are probably gonna be heavily reliant on thier defense again for much of thier success.

For what it's worth......

According to USA Today's Tom Pelissero, Texans coach Bill O'Brien "absolutely loves" Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes.

We doubt Mahomes makes it to the Texans at No. 25 overall, but there's a chance. Houston may also be one of the few teams willing to trade up in this year's draft with several teams looking to move back. The Texans are a good bet to take a quarterback in the first round, and Mahomes may have the highest ceiling of the bunch. Mahomes has size (6'3/230) and a big arm.

Jacksonville will get to a SB before the Texans. Why? No QB. Millions wasted on Osweiller. No QBs in this draft will take anyone to a SB. No one has a trade that will take them anywhere since Romo is out. They are a classic case of years of misdirected choices in potential talent. Their GM is a carbon cope of Griggson. No QB drafted higher than in the third round for the past eleven years. Just a guess here but lets wait and see how many defense player jump ship as their offense stumbles this year and next. Obrien? Tough to say but my money is on him leaving soon if 2017 is a bust.

FWIW-

(JR) PATRICK MAHOMES–TEXAS TECH
His arm is as good as any quarterback in the NFL playing right now. The natural passing instincts as far as sliding and feeling pass-rushers in the pocket, to seeing in front of the throw and adjusting to the type of throw needed, is special. However, Mahomes’ lack of discipline in the pocket with footwork, bailing on clean pockets, and decision making as a big concern.
He’s got a gunslinger mentality and his biggest question mark is his ability to transition from an offense that featured limited reads. He’s a 4.0 student and a good kid but has no vision, no mechanics. He’s erratic as hell. Makes a lot of mistakes.
At the combine, he was 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, Mahomes finished No. 1 among QBs in the 20-yard shuttle (4.08 seconds) and No. 3 in the three-cone drill (6.88). He added a strong 4.8 40-yard dash. He’s extremely raw — his footwork and mechanics on tape are maddeningly inconsistent.
Mahomes might not be as NFL-ready as most of the quarterbacks in the class, but his physical skill set and ceiling will intrigue some team as early as late in round one where getting a 5th year option would b a plus.
He’s going to be a tough coaching chore much like Brett Favre and Jay Cutler were. His upside would fall somewhere in between.
