He should have been retained to be our slot cb or backup slot, especially since we are so thin in the secondary. Last season he was played at outside corner which is not his best position. Playing out of position and being injured surely contributed to his bad season.

I think he was due too much money for Ballard to go that route. Early reports are that he signed a 1 year deal for 1 million. If that's the case and this is how other teams value him , why would we want to pay him over 4 mill for 2017 ?

Pretty obvious Ballard doesn't think much of Robinson. Must be he thinks it's  better to carry the saved cap space over for a contract that will help the team more than Robinson would.
