If the Colts were in position to draft a "luxury" pick, who do you take?

Recommended Posts

If we were already a well rounded team without glaring needs on defense and on the line, who would you take? Personally, for me I would take OJ Howard at 15. The guy is a beast and has potential to be better than Gronk in our offense. Athletically, I think he might be as good, if not better than any TE currently in the NFL.

So who would you guys take as a "luxury" pick?

Not sure there really is such a thing as a "luxury pick". I feel it's the GM's job to acquire the most talented players he can. By that I mean "playmakers", "game-changers", regardless if the roster is considered well rounded or not. Especially in the early rounds, even more so at pick#15.

You mentioned you think OJ Howard may be another Gronk. How many more times will you have a chance to get a Gronk? ..... maybe never.

The same goes for a player like a Zeke, or a Deion, or a Julio.

You don't pass up on players like that to round out your roster with say a average LBer, or  average CB or whatever position you may need.

Remember, you can ALWAYS ACQUIRE AVERAGE players.

So I say if your really, really High on OJ Howard, go ahead and mock him in your 1st round. lol.

Select: TE D. Njoku - From The 'U" and he will help you!

1) This pick gives A. Luck an athletic, mis-match creating PHENOM in the middle of the field that relieves pressure off of "Mr. Reliable" Doyle to perform, and contribute the best way he knows how, by being there when need. - Beast athlete

2) expands on the Offense's attack packages (like when Luck had two talented rookie TEs but BETTER) and his ability to beat a defender 1-on-1 consistently would allow for more 1st Downs and coverages to be shaded differently; opening up for T.Y. underneath and over the top! - Creates nightmare for LBs and Safetys.

3) Having another viable TE option on the pitch means less of a need to go 3 and 4 WR packages, providing more receiver depth in case a Moncrief goes down for an extended amount of time, we'll still roll on Offense. -

Mo Weapons for Luck means Mo problems for the D

Build the Monster

Overall, a versatile weapon that creates mismatches for the Defense, that's a Beast Athlete that I believe can go Deep better than Dorsett with size & Speed is the best option to BTM and help Luck & Co get Better.

-A RB won't do that yet, until the OLine is set!

If you're saying "Luxury Pick", I'd go Mixon. He's the guy who we don't necessarily need, but who could have a huge impact on the team (as long as we don't take him in the 1st round). I would avoid any other luxury picks honestly, as I don't like to take any with a 1st round pick on this Colts team. Maybe If I were the Seahawks or the Panthers could I take luxury picks in the 1st round. As for us, get Mixon and see what happens there.

At 15? Probably one of the RBs. Fournette and Cook are probably safer choices but screw going safe. Gimme Christian Mcaffery. If used right he'll light up the league.

Other option would be John Ross. Let's just run past everyone haha

Don't TY and Dorsett already do that? If anything grab a taller receiver Ala Corey Davis or Mike Williams!

Just did a crazy mock and was staring at Fournette at #15.

Of course, I had to pull the trigger and take him. But what was even more interesting was how the rest of the draft fell.

Rd 1   Pk  15 - Leonard Fournette (RB) LSU
Rd 2   Pk  46 - T.J. Watt (OLB 3/4) Wisconsin
Rd 3   Pk  80 - Gareon Conley (CB) Ohio State
Rd 4   Pk 122 - Jaleel Johnson (NT) Iowa
Rd 4   Pk 137 - Julie'n Davenport (OT) Bucknell
Rd 4   Pk 144 - Shaquill Griffin (CB) UCF
Rd 5   Pk 158 - Michael Roberts (TE) Toledo

Unbelievable. I would be ecstatic if this really happened.

    • I think most important option is missing in the poll : No One.   I think it's a fairly average QB class that it's okay to not like anybody enough to draft him. There's no one QB that Wows you with their pocket passing Caliber or pure athletic traits or good combination of both. It's like a tweener class of all those abilities, having lop-sided combination of above said skills.    And, this poll, rather than forcing to pick one QB, needed that extra option to express staying away from this QB class.

    • If one were to understand that all teams defend with zones in very similar ways, and know that Gus plays man about 30% of the time which is just on the lower side of middle of the pack, so what then is the issue with "Gus".  Ballard/Dodds!  We ARE near the bottom in speed, intellect, experience, Talent, with Gus's back seven. Gus is forced to play soft with dem bums.   Ballard/Dodds have killed us with their many misses drafting DE's, Rock-Ya.   This draft, this 53 man + roster should be pivotal, heavily scrutinized by Ownership.
    • I voted Williams because of his talent and if Chicago doesn't pick him and he becomes great, they will go down as the team that had the guy and blew it again. I honestly am not sold on Williams being great though. My dark horse best QB is Penix.   My bust pick is McCarthy. He is Mac Jones.
    • I do have recollection of it, read my posts above. I never Said you were wrong regarding what I posted but I never created a thread saying he was coming back. I am also sure it was before we signed Wentz when I said he was coming back - which you jumped all over. Time flies. I am not even sure why you started this nonsense? I got a head ache trying to find my old posts and posts I created to make sure I was sane.   Word of advice, you can take this how you want but quit starting stuff with people that is unnecessary. I say that as a friend because as a poster you are one of the best in here.   Calling me out is fine but over something I said 3 years ago is unexpected. I did say what you said but it wasn't last year.    I Need a drink and people wonder why I drink. I can't even come here and have fun to escape the real world. This place is a head ache.
