I don't think short term fillers is what Ballard has in mind. The players he has brought in are pretty much young veterans who can fill depth needs and could very well become starters or at least rotational players.

One of the main problems we have had is the drop off talent levels between our starters to those depth or rotational players. Those depth and rotational players can be the difference in winning and losing games.

Reading about how Spence is good in coverage, and not great against the run, I hope the coaches realize this and play him accordingly.

Seems like a fairly good signing.  1 year 3 M is low risk to the team.  

 

I find it funny how many people say they believe in building through the draft but get PO'ed when the GM doesn't sign a star player or several star players every year.

Not sure, but I'll bet the owner is pretty pleased with the way the GM is managing his money.

I'm sold.  We couldn't cover even the worst of TE's last season so if this is even partially true, I'm happy with the signing.
