How could someone leak a pick without knowing who will be available?

Well, for example like last year Matt Miller said several days before the draft that the Colts love Ryan Kelly and if somebody wants him they will have to jump before us in the draft because he's not falling past 18. The closest I've heard this year is Ballard loving Charles Harris, but it's not on the same level of certainty as last year....

Anyways... here we go, I'm giving my predictions:

Round 1 - #15

A: Charles Harris OLB - the only player we have media report that Ballard loves.

B: Christian McCaffrey RB  - Makes too much sense offensively. Reports he's received a guarantee by a team in the teens

C: Gareon Conley CB - no inside info... but he's the best corner that could conceivably be there

Round 2 - #46

A: Tyus Bowser OLB/ILB - Ballard visited Houston campus several days after his pro-day to meet with him

B: Obi Melifonwu S - reported interest at Senior Bowl

Round 3 - #80

A: Shaquill Griffin CB - top 30 visit with the Colts AND a private workout. The only player in the draft we have reports for having both of those with the Colts.

B: Jourdan Lewis CB - top 30 visit with the Colts

Round 4 - #122

A: Kareem Hunt RB - reported interest, reported meeting at the senior bowl

B: Marlon Mack RB - no reports of interest, but he might be one we take a look at - could be receiver from the backfield, speedy option.

Round 4 - #137

A: Josh Jones S - reported Colts took interest in his workout at his pro-day

B: Blair Brown ILB - top 30 visit

Round 4 - #144

A: Brian Hill RB - reported interest

B: Keion Adams OLB - both top 30 visit and reported interest at his pro-day.

Round 5 - #158

A: Eric Wilson, ILB - both private workout and meeting at his pro-day.

B: Javancy Jones, OLB - both private workout and meeting at his pro-day

Free Agents: 3 choices:

Joe Williams, RB - no reported interest, but might make sense as a speedy option.

Devine Redding RB - both local day pro-day and private workout

Jon Toth OG - local day pro-day

My only regret is not finding a way to put some TEs in there. I'm almost certain we draft one. I decided to load on RBs instead :)

After hearing Ballard in a recent interview he stated his affinity for longer CBs, this leads me to believe he plans to restock if the fact we don't have any is not telling enough.  Ballard will find an Edge rusher in the 2nd, and he'll have as much potential as any we could have selected in the 1st.

These are subject to change but here are my current selections:

Round 1 - #15

A) Gareon Conley – CB Ohio State, I have a feeling Ballard covets a #1 press corner

B) Reuben Foster – ILB Alabama, Supposedly the next Ray Lewis

C) Kevin King – CB Washington, See A

Round 2 - #46

A) Takkarist Mckinley – OLB UCLA, Need and BPA collide

B) Tyus Bowser – OLB Houston, See A

Round 3 - #80

A) Sidney Jones – CB Washington, Could be a steal if he recovers

B) Joe Mixon RB – RB Oklahoma, Andrew would flourish with him as a weapon

Round 4 - #122

A) Nico Siragusa – OG SDSU, Would solidify depth on the interior

B) Jayon Brown – OLB UCLA, Could develop into a Walden type ready for S/T

Round 4 - #137

A) Shaquill Griffin – CB UCF, Another press corner

B) Kareem Hunt – RB Toledo, Promising depth fills a need

Round 4 - #144

A) Teez Tabor – CB Florida, Injury hampered workouts considering his talent it’s worth a look

B) Kendell Beckwith – ILB LSU, Depth and S/T contributor

Round 5 - #158

A) Tanoh Kpassagnon – DE Villanova, If he is keyed in he could be a monster

B) Erik Magnuson – OT Michigan, Never hurts

Free Agents: 3 choices

A) Eric Saubert – TE Drake

B) Elijah Lee – OLB Kansas State

C) Storm Norton – OT Toledo

Welcome once again to Dr. T’s annual Colts Draft Contest for 2017! With seven choices this year, the rules again needed to be changed. Therefore, contestants will be asked to select an A, B, and C choice for round 1 only and A and B choices for all rounds thereafter. In round one, correctly choosing choice A merits 5 points, while correctly choosing choice B or C instead will merit 4 and 3 points respectively. In the other rounds, correctly picking an A choice in the correct round wins 4 points, while correctly picking a B choice in the correct round merits 3 points. If one of your "A" selections is chosen but in a different round than you predicted, you get 2 points, if one of your "B" selections is chosen in a different round than you predicted, you get 1 point, and if one of your "C" selections is chosen in a different round than you predicted, you get 0.5 points. In addition, you will also get to choose three free agent predictions and will get 0.5 points for any of these that the Colts actually draft. If AND ONLY IF there is no clear winner at the end of the 7 rounds of the draft, the contest will be extended for ALL participants in which everyone will also get one point for each collegiate free agent you predicted will be signed by the Colts after the draft.

Make your choices here by listing the round, choice A, B (or C only in round 1), for each round, and 3 free agent choices with the name of the player, position and school. You may also write with each choice a little blurb explaining why you chose that person.

Your Colts 18 selections this year are as follows:

Round 1 - #15 A, B, C

Round 2 - #46 A, B

Round 3 - #80 A, B

Round 4 - #122 A, B

Round 4 - #137 A, B

Round 4 - #144 A, B

Round 5 - #158 A, B

Free Agents: 3 choices

Please be a good sport and do not just copy other contestant's selections. You can easily do some research on your own, since plenty of free draft services are available on the web. You can make changes to your selections, but this can only be done before the contest is closed on Thursday at noon CST April 27, 2016, on the first day of the draft. Good luck and let the best GM win!

:rock::applause::cheer2::HFire:

So were all late with our mock drafts ;)

These things are such a shot in the dark, but here goes...

Round 1 #15

a) Garon Conley, CB, Ohio State  (tall, fast, man-to-man cover corner to plug in opposite Davis.)

b) Derek Barnett, OLB, Tennessee (guy gets the job done, would like to see a productive, strong, guy with pass rush skills other than bull rush (Werner) to fill our main pass rusher role.)

c) Jarrad Davis, ILB, Florida (if we trade down, he would be a great pick up)

Round 2 #46

a) Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt (smart, productive, knows his lanes, made the plays, which would be a welcome improvement over our recent past ILB’s)

b) Tyus Bowser, OLB, Houston (not sure of his best position, but fast, mobile, can rush, can cover, would be a great third down guy until he develops. Ballard said he wanted fast, impact guys.)

Round 3 #80

a) Derek Rivers, OLB, Youngstown State (lots of sacks, great athlete, moves fast. Reminds a little of Mathis, productive small school guy)

b) Marlon Mack, RB, South Florida (this is one guy I would really like to see on our team. Watched several of his games in last couple of years. Guy can scoot and has those cut and go skills that we have missed out of our RB’s)

Round 4

Pick #122

a) Juilen Davenport, OT, Bucknell (swing tackle, probably able to play all G & T positions in a pinch)

b) John Johnson, S, Boston College (Can also play a little CB, not sold on Green as our future starting safety just yet.)

Pick  #137

a) Shaquill Griffin, CB, Central Florida (from my alma mater, don’t know if he is day one ready starter, but the guy can flat out play. Fast, man-to-man cover guy, doesn’t mind sticking his pads in there for tackles.)

b) Jalen Reeves-Maybin, LB, Tennessee (know he is coming off injury, but love watching SEC football and just liked the way he plays. Always around the ball and can cover. A 4th rounder for what may be a starting ILB is a good risk to me)

Pick  #144

a) T.J. Logan, RB, North Carolina (would be a great complement to Gore, change of pace, third down back, plus good returner)

b) Avery Gennesy, OT/G, TEXAS A&M (played T, scouts say he can play G as well)

Round 5 #158

a) Xavier Woods, S, Louisiana Tech  (lots of INT’s PBU’s on his stat sheet)

b) Ben Gedeon, ILB, Michigan (big body for the middle, 2 down guy)

Free Agents

CB Cole Luke, Notre Dame

S Casey DeAndrade, New Hampshire

OL John Flynn, Montana State

Edit: Update

Imagine the scrutiny a team would be under if they drafted the three most scrutinized prospects in Reuben, Mixon and Conley.  Also imagine if Conley is innocent and Joe and Reuben became positive influences in the community.  All are top 10-15 on talent so while it would certainly be a huge risk the reward could instantaneously right years of drafting mistakes.

Got it! Everyone bailing on Conley I see!

I like how sneaky you got and snuck him in as an UDFA, much like La'el Collins went to the Cowboys last year. :)

It still is a risk and is bigger than the case of Collins, IMO.

I can't edit, but after hearing the news on Conley, I'm switching Ahkello Witherspoon out for him in the 3rd round.

The Mock draft to rule this forum ;) Comes from The Danish Colts fan - aka Thorsten Kudahl ;)

I know I will not hit 100% of my first choices, but im satisfied with 90% ;)

So to kick start this contest, I'll now tell you how the colts will draft.

Round 1 - #15 A, B, C

A) Forrest Lamp - OG - Luck need protection, and if Lamp is there, he might be the BPA on our Board

B) Jabrill Peppers - LB - CB wants competition, and Peppers would be a great pick.

C) Taco Charlton - DE - We need a DE, and Charlton could be the guy for us.

Round 2 - #46 A, B

A) Marcus Williams - S - We have been weak at since Bob Sanders left us, Williams could be the next BOB

B) Alvin Kamara - RB - Gore is old and Kamara can block and catch in the open, great for Luck

Round 3 - #80 A, B

A) Jalen Tabor - CB - If on the board here at #80, its a no brainer.

B) Tarell Basham - DE - We need a DE and Basham would be a great fit.

Round 4 - #122 A, B

A) Jake Butt - TE - Butt and Doyle as our TE Duo... oh yeah

B) Brad Kaaya - QB - Kaaya as Lucks backup, would be nice.

Round 4 - #137 A, B

A) Nazair Jones - DE/ DT

B) Isaac Asiata - G

Round 4 - #144 A, B

A) Carl Lawson - DE/ OLB

B) Elija Hood - RB

Round 5 - #158 A, B

A) Will Holden - OT

B) Rasul Douglas  - CB

Free Agents: 3 choices

Andreas Knappe - OT - Denmark, due to his age, he wont be drafted, and the colts need a guy like him.

Gabe Marks - WR - Competition and wr for the practice squad

Treston Decoud - S - Competition for the practice squad

Laugh or just laugh, its now open for debate ;)
