@bababooey just reminded me that we did this a couple years ago. There wasn't too much reason to do it last year, but we have a lot of changes this year, so we'll try to keep track of them all here.  This thread is for information about contract details for Colts players, those who have re-signed with the team, or who have joined the team. I'm also going to add former Colts who have left for other teams (or retired). Please don't post anything else, no rumors, no complaints, etc. Just terms and details, and a source if you have it. Thanks.

Losses:

Joe Reitz, retired, $2.5m cap savings

Robert Mathis, retired, no cap savings

Patrick Robinson, released, $2.5m cap savings

Zach Kerr, signed with Broncos, two years, no further details

Mike Adams, signed with Panthers, two years, $4.2m http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/mike-adams-1412/

Arthur Jones, released, $5.15m cap savings

As of right now,

if I stand in $9m for Sheard's 2017 cap hit, the Colts have added ~$27m to their 2017 cap, and have subtracted ~$15m. Still assuming for Sheard and assuming ~$6m for 2017 draft picks, the Colts should have around $32m in cap space.

Edit: With Sheard at $10m, Turbin at $1.6m, pending details on Hunt and Schwenke but assuming a cap hit of $2m each in 2017, the Colts have added about $33.35m to the 2017 cap, subtracted ~$15m, and should have around $25.4m in cap space.

As of right now, assuming ~$6m for 2017 draft picks, counting all 71 players on the roster today (3/24), and accounting for cap penalties (released and traded players with dead money) the Colts have committed ~$157m. Only counting top 51 contracts (offseason rule), draft picks, and cap penalties, they have committed $148m to the 2017 cap. They have an adjusted salary cap of $173.6m. This leaves the team with approximately $25.6m remaining cap space. (I am not including in season buffer or practice squad contracts at this time.)

Edit: My cap hits include full games played roster bonuses. Spotrac has them prorated based on 2016 games played.

Post details and I'll update as needed.

When and how much do we need to average a certain % of the cap space over the years?

It is an aggregate over 4 years, in this case it is now the 2017-2020 window.  The 2013 - 2016 window just closed,,and every team made the necessary 89% cash spent minimum.  Teams must (once again) spend 89% in cash of the salary cap over the next 4 years.  Being under it in some years can be made up in other years. Must have spent it by new season begins in 2021.

What's the penalty for not spending 89% over the 4 years?

I don't know what is up with Mingo, but he is NOT on the Colts.com roster depth chart, and I can't find any official news from Colts that he is actually signed?

Maybe they didn't have the time to get the paperwork done yet?

That would be my guess also.

Evidently wasn't official until today.

Erik Walden is visiting the Titans today, per PFT. I think with our recent signings it was apparent we wouldn't be making an effort to resign him. May not be the place to mention here but did not want to create a new thread completely seeing as he may be added to this list under "losses" soon.

@Superman Nice Job!

So Mr. Ballard, what do you think about the execution of the Indianapolis Colts defense in 2016?

"I am all for it."

On training camp: "It's shattering when a player loses interest in camp. When you lose your desire to stand around and eat steaks, you lose everything.''

Ahhh, the John McKay coaching quips tree...

I forgot Walden said goodbye to Indy on Saturday. A definite loss.

Mingo deal is now official, side note Chud was the HC in Cleveland when he was drafted in 2013.

I didn't even think about that. It sounds like Ballard really listens to the coaches and is the opposite when it comes to Grigson. Pagano has stated he thinks our young offensive line will make big improvements next year. And when Ballard first came in, he said he wants to improve the offensive lines. That we need to win in between the trenches. Pagano must have convinced him that our 2nd year players will hold up. Cause I don't trust anybody in the draft to do better than what we have honestly. Other than the tackle from Wisconsin.

I am pretty sure that right now we have just under 20 million left to sign any new FA's. Assuming Hunt and Schwenke average @ 2 million each

I'd be disappointed if we gave Hunt any more than 3 million for 2 years. Schwenske is probably a little under 2 as well. Both are backups and that is kind of expensive for depth.

I'm just going by the numbers above and believe we have a little more than that. 32 million before Turbin, Hunt, and Schwenke and assuming all are around 2 mil each...

Yes  but there are other things that will come out of that money.  I am taliking available money to spend

$001.080m = Spots #52 and #53 on In-Season Active Roster
$006.322m = Estimated Draftee Cap Hit
$006.376m = Dead Money
$003.000m = In-Season “Churn” Space

Here is the latest from Spotrac and has Turbin's contract details.  Top 51 Cap Space is $35,923,819 before Schewnke and Hunt figure in:

Supe's calc up top already included 6 million or so for draft signings, I think that is where we are off with each other.

Ok. If you add the rest up and take it from the amount he has.  We would be about the 19 mill I posted

I like every single one of these deals.

Also I could be wrong here. I'm not much of a money numbers or cap guy. I just saw somewhere on twitter that not one of the FA Ballard has signed has had a signing bonus and instead have added guaranteed money on first year of deal? What exactly does this help with? This seems like an interesting business strategy.
