Wow! It sounds like nothing, but Julius Thomas on the Dolphins may actually have some value. Possibly a top 10 TE there for peanuts. Nice job Adam Gase!

That's one less suitor for Jack Doyle as well. Perhaps this opens the Giants up to selecting Njoku from Miami, seeing as Miami had the pick right before them at 21.

Possibly. I think Howard will be more likely to go first though. Njoku looks very nice, however, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants select him. Kind of a Greg Olsen.

Bc they both did well at the U and the Giants got some good use out of Shockey as well haha

O.J. Howard and Christian McCaffrey available at the Packers pick, who would you go with?

If all Julius Thomas can get in a trade is a 7th round draft pick,  I hope this makes it clear that Dwayne Allen is not going to bring the Colts a mid-round draft pick in return.      Not happening.

If we trade Allen,  all we're likely to get is a 7,  or, at best a 6 if a team is desperate.    But with this year's tight end draft,  no one should be desperate........

This is our reality......

Not really, our reality was always keeping Allen.  The decision is what they are willing/able to pay Doyle, and next year Swoope.   The decision was never about cutting Allen 1 yr. in to his new deal.  You knew that, right?

Kinda tough, probably Howard. There's just so many good rbs in this draft that you want to get a great TE, and go with a still good one in the 2nd. You may be able to do a trade for McCaffrey in the 2nd if you are the Packers and get Howard in the 1st.

Of course I did.

But I've seen a sizable number of posters here promote the idea that we should try and trade Dwayne Allen and maybe we could get back a 5.     That's been very popular here since Ballard took over and the story about Doyle testing free agency became public.

I'm simply trying to demonstrate to the "trade Dwayne Allen" crowd that the compensation the Colts would get would likely be pretty disappointing to them.

Really,   that's all.

As for 2017,  I'm all for keeping Allen, Doyle and Swoope.

id take nothing in return for him, if the other team was willing to take his contract.

replace him with an udfa blocking specialist

his dead cap hit is not that bad either, i think he is cuttable

reasons for letting him go-  he misses too many games

dropped passes at key moments in big games

his production does not match his contract, hasnt hit 500 yards in the last 4 seasons

blocking is over rated, colts were twenty third in rushing yards, and his missed block against clowney could have been one play that cost us a playoff appearance
