As I've stated above, let's not get carried away here - this "blog's" first published articles are from about a week ago.  Nothing to really see here.  It's all speculation, really.  What isn't speculation is the author's own two cents, some of it makes sense, but only if the underlying rumors are true (and we don't know how much of it is true) and a lot of it doesn't make much sense.  His thought process makes sense, but some things (i.e. what his finance source said) really don't.  It'd have the same authority as if someone just posted their thoughts on here in my opinion.

there were rumors on twitter last year of an affair between Grigs and one of the Irsay girls.  but there was never any proof of it other than talk.

Just because someone said something on Twitter doesn't mean it should be repeated.

Their source clearly has a nice cushy job within the organization, and would stand to lose that job if their name was made public.

Let's take that thought one step further.  I can only imagine a select few would be aware of said "information" and of the negotiations much less the mindset of Jim during the negotiations. How difficult do you think it would be for Jim to figure out who the leak is?

Would you risk your job for leaking it?

Would I personally do that? Probably not, NFL jobs aren't exactly a dime a dozen, and once you burn a bridge, it's likely that you'll have to find a new line of work. It's hard to imagine what this source would get out of leaking the info too. You'd assume that there's some quid pro quo arrangement, but what would be worth risking your job just so someone on Twitter gets to put info out to all of his followers?

This is infuriating...

"I can’t pretend to know why exactly Ryan Grigson has ingratiated himself so dearly to the Irsay daughters and Jim. My source has attempted to get that very answer, and in the end, it seems to be insanely simple. It seems that Jim Irsay sees Ryan Grigson as the son he never had. He always desperately wanted a son that played football that he could pass along the family business to, however had three daughters.
That is an insane reason to cloud your business judgment to the point that you ignore horrible job performance. Again, the franchise is a cluster under the Irsays.
I’m going to shoot you straight. Well, not that I’ve been sparing details anyway. Here is the ultimate truth: Peyton Manning isn’t coming. You really want to know why? Jim Irsay’s ego can’t tolerate bringing Manning in as a partner. Jim is Mr. Horseshoe, and not Peyton Manning, Bill Polian or Unitas himself is going to change that."

This all sounds like an opinion piece.

Exactly.  I don't buy any of this rumor stuff.  Too easy for someone to say it's true and everyone who WANTS it to be true starts passing it off as fact.  Well, heck, it's on the internet, so...

Meanwhile people's click counts increase and short term glory is attained.

Pfft.

I have no bias as to whether or not Grigson/Pagano stay or go.

But I don't believe this tale is based on inside information. I believe it is concocted from bits and pieces of rumor already suggested. Here's why I don't believe it:

After the 2nd Houston loss that essentially knocked the Colts out of the playoffs, Irsay gave an interview where he was composed and said there would probably be no changes. But, according to this guy, after the Oakland loss, "Irsay was beside himself".... I don't believe it. Most Colts fans including Jim Irsay expected the Colts to lose that game.

But here is this guy's most ridiculous "inside scoop":

"It seems that Jim Irsay sees Ryan Grigson as the son he never had. He always desperately wanted a son."

I personally do not care if some, or all of this story is true, but I don't believe this guy has any more inside information that we do.

Why can't people get that?  Let's face it, real 'leaks' are intentional 99% of the time.

One side or the other wants the story to get out in order to improve bargaining power or sway public opinion.

well what you just read was a bunch of unsubstantiated hearsay....but judge based on whatever evidence you want I suppose.

:applause:

That pretty much summed up the whole story for me clearly there was something going on and irsay could have made that deal but instead was an ego maniac and screwed it up.

It's just as likely gruden and peyton weren't interested and had nothing to do with grigson

I would believe that Irsay was really angry, Adam Schefter reported that he was before the last game of the season. And Irsay obviously wasn't telling the entire truth when he made that statement and most with any sense could tell he was leaving himself an out to make changes which he tried to do.

I agree.  I just don't see anyone gaining any leverage or popular opinion polls via this article.

As someone stated, looks more like an opinion piece or axe to grind article more than anything else.

If they weren't interested why even let it get to the point of negotiations? If Manning wasn't interested he could have shot it down in November right off the bat and this story never gets to this point.

The same people believing this are the same ones who believed yesterday's random tweet that pagano would be fired today.

Somehow the connection never gets made though.

These are the people who are out there in charge of the real world.

Yikes.

Do you have any sources stating that these are the people running the real world?

Get a grip bro.

And then another one showed up, as if on command.

What time does the press conference start?

Nothing would surprise me at this point.

Yeah, at this point, it's probably all a scam to numb us of the REAL 'real' news.

Too shocking to just come out with it.

Wait 'til we learn the REAL news is no news at all, wait....... I think I hear a harp in the background.

"Most with any sense" who read my post can see that my point is about his demeanor, not his statement. He wasn't "beside himself" after the Houston loss......like I said, I don't care if he was "beside himself" after the Oakland loss...... I just don't believe it.

All these sources without faces. It has to be true. And if it's a scam, job well done, for I am numb.

    • Rick Venturi today on the radio said he is more of a fan of speed with corners then what Ballard has done. He said young corners have to be able to recover from mistakes. I would almost like rodgers instead of Brent’s.
    • BBZ, what do you mean when you say Brents will be successfully targeted because of his size and speed? Aren't those his good traits?
    • Right. But we also are expected to draft a corner, So the fact that DeJean can play either position, makes me think Ballard could have his eye on him.
    • As a Ballard type player, he seems to fit the bill.  Big 10. Excels at zone coverage. Elite athlete. Special Teams standout, Good tackler. etc. Colts may be able to trade back, and still land DeJean   Considered one of the Safest picks. Seven 2024 NFL Draft Prospects Who Are Safest Bets to Succeed at Next Level https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10113875-7-2024-nfl-draft-prospects-who-are-safest-bets-to-succeed-at-next-level   DB Cooper DeJean, Iowa   A fractured fibula during a November practice tempered any excitement regarding Cooper DeJean's draft status. So he's not been in the same conversations as the class' top defensive backs, specifically Toledo's Quinyon Mitchell and Alabama's Terrion Arnold. DeJean's profile projects just as well or better than the aforementioned cornerbacks.   Three specific attributes set DeJean's floor higher than anyone else among the back end.   First, the reigning Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year presents the positional flexibility and traits to start at cornerback or safety at the professional level, with B/R's Cory Giddings highlighting his coverage skills:   "DeJean excels in zone coverage, but he's versatile enough to play man as well. He shows a smooth backpedal and the ability to keep his leverage and quick footwork with few wasted steps. Although he transitions well, there are times where DeJean hops into his breaks; allowing a step of separation.   "When in zone, DeJean does a great job of reading and reacting to the quarterback's eyes. Pairing that skill set with his route recognition, he often puts himself in good position with leverage and positioning.   "While working downfield, DeJean has the strength necessary to hand-fight with tight ends and bigger receivers, as well as the speed necessary to carry twitchier receivers downfield. He also does a very good job of locating the ball and playing through the catch point."   Second, the high school track standout is an elite athlete who captured Iowa state titles in the long jump and 100-meter dash. Many expected him to blow the doors off Lucas Oil Stadium. Unfortunately, he wasn't ready to test in Indianapolis after being cleared a few weeks earlier.   "His acceleration is incredibly fluid and super powerful," NFL combine trainer Jordan Luallen told The Athletic's Bruce Feldman last summer. "He's the best athlete I've seen in person, pound for pound."   Finally, DeJean adds significant value as an elite collegiate returner. Big Ten coaches also awarded him Return Specialist of the Year this past season. DeJean averaged 13.1 yards per punt return over the last two seasons. A top-notch contributor anywhere along the defensive backfield and on special teams will provide excellent value in the NFL.   Potential Landing Spots: Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles
    • He could, but I think he's way more athletic than people give him credit for and projects way better as CB. Definitely could be a good safety, but I think if we drafted him, he fits well as a boundary corner for us.
