3rd and long, you don't risk a deep pick or anything.  Run a simple play, get a few yards, be conservative, play the field position game

But.... MADDEN... where was the going for it on 4th down?

I never even get to 4th down on Madden.  Hail Mary to Hilton or Dorsett on every play!

Meh it's not that far different from calling the draw which a lot of coaches might call at this point in the game with that down and distance at midfield.

Of course that's a typical call. Just not something I'd have liked to see. No need to risk a pick, just throw it away if nothings there past the first down marker...

We are going to get absolutely shredded today. Doubt our offense will be able to keep up with them.

Watching Anquin Bolden run... I'm not sure what was sadder. How slow he was, or how the D still couldn't run him down!

Risk a sack and injury.  Be conservative in that situation.  It's way too early in the game to consider taking a risk

Defense can't stop giving up first downs

Or tackle, which is not good....

Haha, this defense is pathetic. They've had so many opportunities to fix it, and it's still so bad.

    • No to throw ointment in the mix but who exactly said Oakland would trade their #1 and #2 pick for the Colts #1?
    •   I never said anything about over-paying for him. Not sure how someone could possibly read what I wrote and come away with that.    And seriously; on what planet is Aiken ever going to be in Moncrief's realm. No need to answer, because it is rhetorical.
    • I like seeing Russell Wilson get a lot of love. A lot of people seem to knock him for having a strong defense, but something that gets lost is how consistently terrible his Oline is, as well as the sea of mediocrity he gets from his receivers. I know to some Colts fans it's pretty much sacrilege to put him over Luck, but at this point in their careers I would.
    • I would rather have #46 and #80 than Lamp. If Lamp slips to #46...great. If not, there will be a good defensive player available.
    •   But consider this... that Colts 2 14 team was 0 -13 with Kerry Collins and Curtis Painter.  Dan Orlovsky came in and helped the Colts to go 2 - 3 in the Colts last 5 games.  Yes, this is the exact same Orlovsky that went 0 - 12 to finish out the Lions winless season the year (Kitna started the first 4) before Stafford was drafted #1.   Tells me which of these teams Stafford and Luck inherited were better , no question.   Rushing ability is a great asset (Cam Newton is light years better at it than Luck!), but winning from the pocket is still the most important aspect in a QB's game.  Do not be fooled. And GM's/Owners are telling their running QB's (including Cam!)  to tame it some.  Luck's kidney laceration that ended his season being big reason #1.
