Very nice Joe Philbin article

When you think about it, we only added one proven starter in Robinson.

But we added coaches like Joe that we're counting on to bring out the best in all that young talent.  He hasn't coached O line in 10 years but I bet he'll be excellent at it.

If there is anyone questioning him about his ability to coach a NFL o line, read this.

The more I read about him the more excited I get about our o line.

Of all the offseason things we did -- my favorites were:

(1) Retaining Pagano

(2) Hiring Philbin

(3) Replacing Manusky

(4) Retaining Chud

(5) Hiring Krein (the Strength/Conditioning Coach)

(6) Addressing or OL in the draft

(7) Hiring Schottingheimer (QB coach)

(8) Not doing any crazy overspending for over-aged/priced vets in FA

So yes, I'm very excited about Philbin.  I hope people remember when we had Howard Mudd -- we frequently brought in OL in later rounds/UDFA who he turned into solid OL -- part of it was obviously a scheme fit, but part of it was purely coaching.

Philbin is going to be very good for us, I am optimistic!  And with Chud having a healthy offense and a full offseason, I think we'll be much better off than we were with Pep.

Someone posted a link to an article where 4 Offensive linemen had to get special coaching in the offseason because a lot of teams don't coach them up very well.  Along comes a guy like Philbin and he is taking the time to do that and he loves doing it.  Every Colt fan should be excited about this.

Nice track record. I didn't know he coached all those guys at Iowa.

Yeah, reading this article made me feel even better about him coaching our OL.

Looks like he is a teacher first, and loves being behind the scenes. His personality fits the Midwest and to me, his might be like a Dungy type demeanor that the players love.
