Hard count a chidlish play?

The hard count falls under the mental aspect of being a QB IMO. If the defense don't have enough discipline not to jump off side because of a hard count that's on them. As far as catching the defense with more than 11 on the field that's on the defense too. As far as the defenses getting caught off sides and extra men on the field it makes them frustrated and too much of that is never good. Mistakes and penalties follow.

I'm assuming this person has never played football in real life or in video game format, and therefore has no real understanding of the game of football.

Anyone that has actually played football will tell you the game gets a lot more "childish" than hard counts.  Anyone that has played against other people in Madden will tell you that "cheap" plays are half the game.

I am going to assume that this is the type of person that was in favor of many soldiers standing in a line wearing red shirts and being "honorable targets" instead of wearing brown and trying to blend in with the tree trunk you are hiding behind while shooting at the geniuses wearing targets for shirts...

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Following this to its logical conclusion, the offense should just tell the defense what the play call is when they line up.

And then Goodell will hand out participation trophies to everyone, including the audience! You know, just to be fair! :headspin:

Not only is the hard count used to get the defense to jump off-sides.....

But if you get them to do it enough during the course of a game,  it will eventually slow them up because they'll become a little more cautious.

And slowing them up will slow up the pass rush which will help the O-lineman and the offense as a whole.

This fan may think he's going the right sportsmanship idea,   but he simply doesn't know or understand football.

He claims to be a Packers fan and doesn't even know that their QB spells his name Rodgers?

It has a "D" in it!

Sounds like my dad with basketball.  He complains that whenever a team is down by just a few points with second left they start fouling.

Point is you have to make the foul shots to win close games like that.

In football you have to be mentally aware of what's going on.  You can't just go out there and just be thinking "kill quarterback"

Exactly . . . the game would be a lot less interesting to watch and I'm guessing a lot less fun to play if there wasn't a mental part to the game.
