Josh Johnson is Back -Luck Won't Start Tonight?

Hasselback is sick, Luck's injury seems to be a soap opera spy story and Johnson was signed-released-signed. What's in the soup? Houston talk radio suggests this means Luck will not start tonight and I hope they are right..

i think that Johnson was brought back because Matt is sick. Im sure Luck will start tonight but if forever reason he gets re-injured Josh Johnson is the as a backup plan.

Well for a few more hours at least we can hope Luck is much better than we all fear and leads us to a win and all this chatter is just gamesmanship against Houston so they don't know who to gameplan against.   If Josh Johnson ever sees the field, our season is over.

I said it earlier (as have others) - Andrew should not play tonight.  There's doubt because he's injured even though Pagano wants to continually paint an optimistic picture.

If Luck feels like he is good to go i think he should, This is a Divisional game after all and we need to secure the win. I would rather have our best players in the lineup.

I have yet to hear Luck isn't starting by anyone. You never know though with the way the media reports things and with the way the Colts are just keeping quiet about who is starting. If Luck doesn't start we will lose, you heard it here first. He needs to play. This is a huge game and can get us to 3-2 with a long break. This game is more important than the Pats game and can give us a 2 game cushion over the Texans + the tie breaker in the Division. Mike Greenberg just said Luck is playing.

It's not the Pagano I'm annoyed with, it's the fans. Pagano likely isn't sure, so he can't "come out and say yes or no".

i see i figure if he says he's good to go and can operate this faster offense let him have it division games late crucial with the way we've been struck with injuries and playcalling

Why are so many people hoping Luck doesn't play? If the doctors say Luck can play then he should absolutely play. Its that simple.

Because they feel important by giving an opinion with nothing to base it off of.  For all we know he could have played last week but they wanted to give him extra time.

I'll be absolutely shocked if Luck plays. Nothing indicates to me that he will.  Johnson gets brought back yesterday, Matt practices fully yesterday while Andrew still limited. Now these reports popping up that the Colts won't be surprised if Matt starts.  If they don't know by now whether or not Luck is ready to play, then he isn't ready.  Pretty simple to me.

Yep that makes sense....cut the guy Monday....sign em Wednesday without any practice time for a Thursday game

It's called a backup plan.  Both of our two primary QB options are coming off of something.  So, do you go into a game with just those two and hope for the best, or do you sign a guy capable of running standard plays just in case you need a relief option.

If, for any reason Johnson has to play, the play book likely becomes a bunch of basic plays we're capable of running with a QB who does not know our system.

And Hasselbeck is still sick it sounds like. Was in the hospital for an IV sometime this week.  Yeah, not good, could get real ugly quick.

After the game. He's not currently on the IV drip. Players play with all kinds of illnesses all the time.

Who didn't see this coming. Won't be surprised if he sits the next game too. I think the Colts are terrible liars. And not sure they are fooling others like they would like to believe.

I just think the Colts are looking at the big picture because of the huge rest he can get after tonight. Having said that this game isn't a gimme without Luck.

    • Was that the only good receiver taken in that draft? And did they give up multiple picks?
    • Yeah, I have no beef with MHJ as a prospect (I think some are pumping him up a little too much, and there's some name recognition probably influencing the way he's talked about). It would be awesome to have him on the Colts. But just like every other draft prospect in history, the possibility exists that he will not live up to the pre-draft expectations.    But during the pre-draft process, fans and media start falling in love with players. Terms like "generational talent," "future superstar," etc., start getting thrown around. And now we're talking about a prospect as if he's a lock for the HOF before he's even played a game in the NFL. That's fine, it's fun, we all do it. But that's different from actually scouting, setting a board, and making decisions for the team.   Each of us can point to a previous prospect that we loved and raved about and had them fitted for a gold jacket, but who bounced out of the league within 3-4 years. And the same is probably true for NFL scouts and decision makers. Which is why Ballard's comment today -- there is no such thing as a perfect prospect -- is so important to remember. I'm not against the team identifying a guy they really want and going up to get him, but I hope they're not just doing it with stars in their eyes.
    • Would Cincy have made the SB without taking Chase at #5. I got the answer, and it is easy, it is a FAT NO. They would have never got by KC as great as Burrow is. Giving up next years 1st round pick isn't the end of the world to land a generational WR. We still have picks in rounds 2-7 if we did that.
    • Definitely was, but essentially all of them received the same punishment initially.     Just thought it was curious, especially right before the draft. Has to put the CB spot for the Eagles in limbo.     Been wondering if Jontay Porter's NBA lifetime ban had any play in the decision.   Rodgers did bet on his own team.
    • sure hope he does we need a game changing pass catcher
