Philbin told PS players "Take it easy" on Tannehill

Philbin told practice squad players to "take it easy" on Tannehill after weeks of intercepting him in practice in an effort not affect the quarterback's confidence.

This has got to be a joke:

1. You shouldnt be performing poorly against PS players.

2. Why is the coach telling them not to hurt his confidence? He is a PRO! What are they supposed to do, drop the ball?

3. Unless you are trying to full on tackle Tannehill, why are they taking it easy?

This story has been refuted, and even the story that was reported by Omar Kelly is different than what OP is saying.

Evidently, PS players were going full speed to pick off Tannehill during a walk-through in London. Which is stupid, because it's walk-through. Even if Tannehill made this jerkish comment, the story isn't the comment or that Philbin had to make the defense go easy on him. It's that the defenders who were going full speed during walk-through had no respect for their QB, and had no respect for the head coach, as they reportedly refused to practice against Tannehill for the rest of the walk-through. The story is that Philbin lost the team, and let this fracture between the QB and even bottom rung players fester to the point that this happened during walk-through.

Again, that's if the story is even true.

I read that Tom Brady actually pays his practice players if they intercept his passes. Quite a contrast! Tannenhill could learn a thing or two. Then again, Brady paid the Deflator, too, albeit in autographed memorabilia, but I digress.

He needs to send out 31 e-mails to tell the rest of the league to 'take it easy on Tannehill'
