Has A Team Ever Had A Stranger Offseason Than The 49Ers Did?

Yeah its crazy man. I actually forgot about Anthony Davis retiring until I seen he wasn't on Madden. So Smith and McDonald get cut for getting in trouble. That's 2 big blows to a once juggernaut defense. Then Willis and Smith retire. That's 2 more huge blows. And what makes it worse is Borland who looked awesome last year, was expected to step up and become a starter. Then he retires. Yeah man. It was wild to say the least.

Going full Tim Roth mode is serious business.

The only difference is Tim Roth was likable in that movie, and it was heart crushing watching the poor guy bleed to death the entire movie.

I can't say I feel the same about the 49ers. The way they treated Harbaugh, and then the castle comes crashing down, they deserve it. This team was in the SB a few years ago and had the best linebacker corps in the NFL, and the management quickly destroyed all of that.

Ray McDonald - cut

Justin Smith - retired

Jim Harbaugh - left in FA

Frank Gore - left in FA

Anthony Davis - retired for now, presumably for 1 year as he has said

Patrick Willis - retired

Chris Borland - retired

Aldon Smith - cut

Certainly the craziest offseason I've seen.  Holy crap.

That's a hell of a lot of talent leaving a team. All of them would start for nearly all 32 teams. Crazy.

2010 Vikings are up there but I don't think they take the cake. I still remember that infamous clip of all 3 of the 41 year old's starting WRs standing on the sidelines laughing after leaving the game with extremely painful bruises and agonizing toe strains. It was worse than the Derrick Anderson incident.
