To be clear, a source tells me #Colts DT Art Jones now waiting for ANOTHER foot & ankle specialist, Dr. Robert Anderson, to review his scans

Yikes. Looks like he'll be out an extended period of time. Really wish he could of stayed healthy, we really, really need him down the stretch. Lets hope he's back for our tough stretch week 6 and beyond.

I was just coming to post this. Doesn't sound good. I'm getting used to not seeing him out there...

I can't see facebook or twitter at work.  Is the tone that he WANTS to play earlier?

If the first DR said he could play, why is he seeing another one?

This was the full text in the post:

Source: ‪#‎Colts‬ DT Art Jones is now seeking the opinion of another foot & ankle specialist--namely Dr. Robert Anderson. It's expected Dr. Anderson will review & discuss Jones' scans today. Jones already visited a foot and ankle specialist "referred by the Colts previously. That doctor said he felt (Jones) does not have to go on injured reserve and (Jones) can play in the 2015 season," the source said. I'm told Jones is seeking more specifics and a confirmation to his previous evaluation.

Sounds like an extended outage, but not more than 17 weeks.

Thanks.  That's actually better news than I envisioned.  I'd rather he take his time, get healthy, and come back for the playoffs (assuming...).

I guess we could IR him with a return designation so he doesn't take up a roster spot.

I think this is just Jones being cautious.

Obviously, this is probably is a pretty bad ankle sprain.

I imagine he is being extra cautious though because he hurt his ankle soon after he came back last year and wasn't the same for the rest of the season.

To be honest, I think we've got a pretty easy first 5 weeks with the injuries on Buffalo and NYJ's defense followed by 3 AFC South games.

Then we've got the Patriots and Saints who should be tough and then Carolina who I can't see being very good.  After that we have Denver.

I would be all for Jones taking 8 weeks off instead of 6 weeks and coming back healthy for Denver.

Heck, I think it'd be fine even if he took off until after the bye week and came back in week 11.

A healthy Jones will be very good to have come the post-season.  I would much rather him (and Mathis and Irving for that matter) be cautious and be able to stay healthy upon return.  No need to rush -- without Jones, I think we can easily be somewhere 6-3 or 7-2 at the bye week, which wouldn't be too bad.

Should've lost more weight in the off season. Watched him as he was trotting to the sidelines after the injury, needs to tone some of the gut. Once you get ankle or leg problems, you gotta start dropping weight to ease the bearing

Horse crap! He's a D-lineman... He puts more strain on his legs, ligaments, and muscles exploding off the ball then anything

Very true but people's bodies are different. To this day I'm still wondering how Vince Wilforks legs are still holding up with all that weight on them. I just don't see how Jones now has 2 ankle injuries in 2 seasons. I don't think he was rolled up on on the play in the Rams game

Sounds worse than I thought. Pagano said Jones probably hurt his ankle on the first play of the game, but he didn't come out until after the second play. That's why I thought it was probably a less severe injury. I haven't gone back and watched the first play to see what happened.

Edit: Just watched it. Ouch. He got bent backward pretty badly. I can't really see who falls on the back of his legs, but one of those 300 pounders did, and he was getting pushed by his man up top. Not good at all.

Browns announce release of 2011 first-rounder Phil Taylor; source says teams are already lining up for a crack at him.-pro football talk

Yes, please!  I remember wanting the Colts to draft him in 2011, but he went one pick before us.  With that said, I'm extremely happy about getting Castonzo with the next pick!

Wow, I know they weren't happy with him, but I didn't think they'd give up on him already.  I know it's a money thing, but can he play?

I doubt he makes it to our spot in the waiver queue though.

and that stinks because these are the types of injuries you can't do anything about...just freak accidents. That said, I think the team is better off depth wise to handle his absence.

is there anything he can bring to the table that the team doesn't already have?

Apparently the Browns don't think he's fully recovered from the knee.  They said they didn't know how much they could use him this season.  Meaning he wasn't worth the money.

I'm curious why they didn't try to get something for him?  At least a 7th rounder?

Yup. It cracks me up when people talk about dainty ankles and how he should have lost more weight, etc. After seeing the play on which he got hurt, nothing short of a force field would have prevented him from getting hurt. I'm surprised it's just an ankle, and not a knee or a broken leg. X-rays were negative, so that's a good thing...

yep, just put him on IR designated for return....don't rush him back so he can be 100 % upon return and give the youngsters more chance to develope.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Colts go in Phil Taylors direction if everything checks out medically.  I think they mainly cut him because they've got two good young nose tackles in Danny Shelton and the other guy Meder. Plus they have Randy Starks who can also play the nose if needed. No need for 4 NT

We do like to gather up former Browns

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to the idea. We could use him, I'm sure

Anderson came in for him during the game when it happened so I would say Anderson

Isn't he more suited for Langford's spot? I mean Kerr has some push. 3 sacks last season I think. His body type is also close to Jones. Does Anderson have the ability to push back the opposition's o-line?
