Gregg Doyle: Super Bowl or bust for Indy

Not sure if I ever agree with Super Bowl or bust that would mean if we dont win this year we will just whither away and become the Jags or something.

I do agree that this is probably the year we should be there and will be there and will win it.  I do agree that if we do not there will be changes most likely with the HC and possibly GM.

All that to say I think we are the best team in the AFC right now ( its training camp I do realize that ).  I believe we have what we need to win the Super Bowl this year as long as we can as the article states stop the run and that remains to be seen.

GO COLTS :lombardi: :lombardi:

I hate it when folks say "we made the playoffs.  Anything more is just icing on the cake".  That is a mentality

that settles for less.  This team is built to win now.  Aim for the top and give everything a SB effort.  Anything less is

not satisfactory.  Let's win this now!

Yes, i know my thoughts don't translate to what is done on the field, but i want every player to have that mentality.

No,  I absolutely do NOT agree with the assertion of Super Bowl or bust.

The Cowboys did the same thing last year with their HC.   They did not extend him until AFTER the regular season.

Dallas had a great year, 12-4, but won only ONE post-season game.    And yet they re-signed Jason Garrett to a new deal at a big pay increase.

Irsay has publicly said this is NOT a Super Bowl or bust year.   He may have even said it more than once.  He has said he wants to see a better team.   A better defense,  especially a better run defense.   He said he wants to see fewer blow-out losses.    None of that is unreasonable.

But some people simply won't believe......   and they don't believe Irsay.   I think those people -- including Greg Doyle -- are wrong.

We'll reach the playoffs again.....   But I don't know how far we'll go....

$1000 to your $1 says they aren't... You don't have 3 years of improvement and roster overhaul then declare your management to be on the hot-seat.. That makes ZERO sense..

The only reason the Colts are winning is because of Luck. The coaching (Pagano and Manusky mainly) stinks.

That's a huge discredit to the rest of the team.. Luck helps a bit but lets not overglorify the guy, especially with his previous playoff performances. Manusky is the ONLY one I can put a flier on with being on the hot-seat.

Without Luck 3-13 Roster. Take it to the bank.

People expected Dallas to go 12-4, especially after what happened to them against SF opening day. I am 1 of those people that doesn't believe Irsay. He knows as well as the rest of the team knows what the elephant in the room is, & that is we must take out NE this year by any means. He's sick of losing to them & us fans & the team should be as well. Irsay is haunted by the fact that we didn't win more of these :lombardi: under Peyton, & I'm sure he's hell bent that doesn't happen under Andrew.

Respectfully disagree. I also had issues with coaching in many games. But they're far from inadequate. Pagano is probably one of the top 10 coaches in the league. The guys love him. Manusky managed to put up a decent defense with some very mediocre talent.

Unlike Jerry Jones who believes he is going to win the Super Bowl every year, Irsay is a bit more realistic.  He will say something when he believes it and he knows we have a legit shot at it now.  But I don't know where the bust part comes in.  We get Gore, Johnson and Mathis for a couple of years.  I think we have a window with those guys, but who knows?  Maybe our best is yet to come?  We should have a shot every year we have Luck and he'll only get better.

So if you take Luck off the team, you're saying we basically have the roster of the Jags or Raiders? You Luck cheerleaders know how to be amusing at times..

The colts went 2-14 without Peyton. Although I think Hasselbeck is better than Painter was but we probably wouldn't win more than 6 games without Luck. Maybe not quite 3-13 but we probably aren't a playoff team.

There must be tons of Luck cheerleaders in the media too. The roster is improved this year, but during his first 3 seasons the roster was below average.

Yeah, Luck helps more than "a bit". And what's wrong with his previous playoff performances?

Not even close to a playoff team

What makes you think Pagano is a top 10 coach?

After #1, it's subjective, so that's my opinion. Improvements each season, players love playing for him, etc. Also, he's gotten the best out of some mediocre talent.

And if you use the "take away Luck" argument, then take away the QB from every coach you rank above him for comparisons sake.

Again, it's subjective.

I wasn't going to use that argument. GB has a pretty good roster, but without Rodgers.....meh.

I don't know what to think about Chuck, but my guy tells me he's average. His biggest problem might be hiring coordinators....although he seems to have a home runs with the ST guy.

Dallas going 12-4 was considered one of the bigger surprises of the season.

I don't recall any expectation that that would happen.

My bad I meant to say ppl didn't expect them to go 12-4 after what happened to them opening day.

I disagree. I mean, of course it will depend whose playing QB.. but this roster is loaded with talent.

Not really. There is nothing special about the offensive line, defensive front 7, the safeties. The colts are loaded at QB, WR and TE

Epic fail.

The suggestion that the coaching has nothing to do with the games they have won is incomprehensibly misguided.

Way too broad of brush here.

As we have seen over the past few years, great coaching gets you over the hump to winning the SuperBowl.

Yeah, that was a great call by Belichick to purposely have his defense back up'ed against the goaline knowing Wilson would make a poor decision.

Yep. If Bill could have said what he really felt on the podium holding that trophy, he would have said, "we knew the only chance we had at stopping them on the one was if they threw the ball. Thank God they did."
