Our 2015 draft class Vs Grigson's draft class. Game and rules

Recommended Posts

A person of interest can go from just that to the killer in a matter of a couple hours or a couple days. It happens often. Just watch The First 48. An officer can be easily interviewing the killer and not know it at the time (Do to not having the evidence at the time of the interview) then they find the evidence they need. Next thing ya know ya just interviewed the killer

It's more then just a simple football decision.  There is a bit of PR to worry about as well.

If anything becomes of it you just release him.....story over.

Sure, but why not take a flyer with a 6-7th round pick? You're virtually risking nothing for a big payoff. And as far as I know, which isn't much, wasn't he simply being interviewed by the police because he used to date the woman? It's not like there was a bloody glove or anything.

What happens if you spend the pick and it turns out Collins killed the woman?

Then the Colts go down in history as the team that drafted a double-murderer.    That's why everyone stayed away.

With the beating the NFL has taken the past year or so,  no owner wanted any part of that.    All 32 teams stayed away.....

And in the process become the organization who picked up a killer.....if that would have been the case...Obviously with hindsight that's not the case. We did not know that then though and if he would have been the killer the media would have made a huge circus about that and some much less professional would have likely taken the opportunity to drag up other issues in certain other peoples past in the organization...Next thing you know we are getting attention for multiple reasons and none of them positive

If he is charged then release him. What's the big deal? Like the nation that has the attention span of a 6 week old puppy is gonna remember who drafted some kid from LSU. Fans get on forums and Twitter and act like they care, but they don't.

And yes, that awful pounding the NFL has taken. A bunch of fake outrage.....as the ratings continue to be outstanding.

I don't mind disagreeing with that lot.

I don't think there's an argument for you,  or me,  or anyone else on this website that we know better than all 32 NFL owners.

There's a reason they all passed every time around.

When it comes to PR,  the NFL is normally pretty savvy.   But they had just finished their worst PR year -- ever.

Drafting a possible double-murderer was simply not acceptable to anyone in the NFL.    Not until Collins was cleared.

This. . . if Collins was drafted and he turned out to be the murderer then it puts the focus back on the NFL for the whole violence against women moral panic we are currently under.

29. Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon (pains me because I really have grown to love the Dorsett pick a lot. I think he was likely the true best BPA at 29 and I think he is going to be a star. I just love bolstering the trenches and happen to believe I can snag another very good WR with the next pick.)

65. Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas St.

93. Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford

109. Grady Jarrett, DT, Clemson

151. Shaquille Riddick, OLB, West Virginia

205. Josh Robinson, RB, Mississippi St.

207. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, DB, Oregon

255. Anthony Harris, S, Virginia

Overall I'm really happy with Grigsons draft class. It's really anyones guess if theirs can come out better than his. I bet hindsight says most of ours won't.

You know why he wasn't being drafted, because he threatened not to sign and it's a lot easier said than done to risk a draft pick for nothing. If he would of signed, a GM would of taken him, and it would of been earlier than the 7th. He was getting talked to by the police about a murder at the time. You can't expect Grigson or any other GM to draft him because of that and it won't be allowed here. Too big of an advantage over Grigson's draft. Everyone will do it and it will be a free hit.

But I was saying at the time someone should take a flyer on him. Hell, John Elway threatened to play baseball. Not my fault the owners stupidly wanted to make an example of a kid for the crimes of ray rice.

Yes, I'm stubborn.

Here is my draft...

1- DT Malcom Brown (He would play a lot of NT on passing downs, and would share time with Jones and Langford at DT/DE on running downs. I as a GM would draft plenty of help in the trenches first and foremost.)

2- CB D'Joun Smith

3- DE/OLB Trey Flowers (Gives us another option for the future at OLB. Can learn for a year under Mathis, and has more promise as a pass rusher than Werner.)

4- S Clayton Geathers

5- DT/DE Michael Bennett (Gives the Colts DL great depth now with adding Brown and Bennett.)

6- RB Josh Robinson

7- C/OG Andy Gallik (We are still a little uncertain who will be our C of the future, and Gallik provides another option there. He can also play OG when needed. Is from Boston College so he has the smarts.)

8- OT La'el Collins (This pick is obvious. He could easily be the Colts starting RT from day 1 or at least by mid season.)

Trey Flowers isn't much of a pass rusher. Potential to be an excellent strong side LB though.

  • 3 months later...

1:29 Landon Collins SS

3:1   Tyler Lockett WR

3:29 Paul Dawson ILB (hurts, bc Anderson is one of my favorite players from this draft)

4:10 Grady Jarrett DT

5:15 Michael Bennett DT

6:29 Gerod Holliman SS

6:31 Jeremy Langford RB

7:38 Quinton Spain OG

Bumping this out of curiosity. I wonder what everyone else thinks of their alternative drafts at this point of the year.

I'd replace Collins with Eric Kendricks, and Dawson with Henry Anderson. Could probably do something different than Michael Bennett in that case, also. Holliman isn't even on a team right now, not even a practice squad. Langford has had a couple of breakout games; he was always going to be good. Spain is on the Titans roster, hasn't played very much.

Jeremy Langford was a good call. So far anyways, looks better than Josh Robinson. Scrapping Henry Anderson in favor of Dawson was obviously one that I'd stick with Grigson on. Tyler Lockett woulda been a nice pick as well!

I put Jeremy Langford in so many of my mocks last year. He looks like he'll be better than Duke Johnson and Ameer Abdullah long term. He's definitely better than Coleman who is still fumbling like he did in college.
